6 _______Parts Replacement Situation: Inverter Replacement __________________ 6 -1
Safety Note 1
WARNING When carrying out the work steps and checks, the product-
specific safety information contained in the documents, as well
as the general safety information must be observed.
Safety Measures 1
• Before taking any action in the generator, switch it off at the control console Off switch.
LED
LED
Fig. 1
WARNING When the generator is switched off, there is still voltage present
at the T3 transformer and on the switch-on circuit.
After switching off the generator, there is still approx. 600 VAC
voltage present on the D510 inverter board! This is indicated by
the LEDs on the D510 board (Fig.1).
The voltage dissipates within approx. 2 minutes to < 30 V; the
LEDs go off at approx. 30 V.
• To prevent unintentional triggering of high voltage or radiation, set the IGNITION switch
on the D500 to OFF (no control of the inverter).
WARNING If the power storage option is configured, it must be cut off from
the generator using switches SW1 and SW2 (Fig.2) to switch off
power to the generator and the power storage option. However,
there are still approx. 600V DC battery voltage present in the
power storage cabinet!
The SW2 switch in the power storage cabinet must be secured
prior to switching it on again (Fig.3). To do this, slide back the
white square sleeve(1/Fig.3) and secure it with a lock (2/Fig.3).
Then perform a measurement to assure that power is switched off
to the generator; to do this measure the:
• DC battery output voltage (+ / -) at the power connection of the
power storage cabinet (6/Fig.4).
• 400V AC output voltage (13 / 14) at the power connection of the
power storage cabinet (2/Fig.4).
If these measures are not observed, death or serious bodily injury
can occur from electric shock.

Service Mode:
Switch OFF (Position 1):
- Normal status
Switch ON (Position 2):
- Following a restart, the generator goes into the service mode
• For further information, see the Polydoros IT Wiring
Diagram
S1 Service Switch 1
To be independent of the control console (generator switch-on mode), the S1 switch in the
generator must be switched off. If the switch remains in the switched off position, it is not
possible to switch on the generator.
NOTICE Absolutely take note: for the normal mode, always set the switch
to the ON position.

Corrective measures:
• Bring the S4 IGNITION switch in the correct position (ON) or check the function.
• Check high voltage; if high voltage builds up to less than 20kV (check on D500_X186 at
Pin UTact), then -> replace the Tube unit; first read out/noteA the Tube data; then
perform the following adjustments: 1) Static Inverter adjustA; 2) Learn filamentA.
• If no high voltage builds up, check the oscillation current signal on the D500 Pin
X210_Iload-> if there is an oscillation current signal, there is a short-circuit in the HVT or
in the high voltage circuit; also check for a short-circuit on D530 X13 and X11; if there is
no short-circuit:
- Replace the Tube unit; first read out/noteA the Tube data, then perform the following
adjustments: 1) Static Inverter adjustA; 2) Learn filamentA
• Determine the oscillation current using the single oscillation testO; check the oscillation
current (D500_X100_F_INV) and oscillation pulse (D500_X210_I_load):
- 1) If there is no control, replace the D500 and perform a reconfiguration and
readjustment (see Err003: D500 Error),
- 2) If no oscillation pulse is generated, replace the Inverter unitI and perform a
readjustment: Static Inverter adjustA.

NOTICE Depending on the power line input voltage, the TF1 and TF2 trans-
formers must be connected, see Wiring Diagram Fig.1 and
the descriptions on the transformers.
The F1 fuse also depends on the line power input voltage:

LED’s 4
• V1 (yellow): On (Power On). Goes on when the output voltage from the PFC (Power
Factor Correction) is ok.
• V3 (green): LD (Charge ON). Goes on when the charge is 95% above the floating
voltage (123V).
• V5 (green): RDY ("ESU ready" Signal). Goes on when the ESU ready signal is ok.
• V6 (red): WAR ("Warning). Goes on when the temperature on the heat sink is too
high, or the battery voltage is too low. No battery charging possible.
Troubleshooting 4
• LED V5 (green) "RDY" does not go on and V6 (red) "WAR" goes on:
- SW2 switch = OFF
- Check the X3 plug-in connection between the D120 boards.
• Disconnect the X11 and X2 plug-in connections on the battery bank to be replaced.
• Replace one or more battery banks.
- Disconnect the two mounting screws on both the left and right side of the battery bank.
- When replacing the middle battery bank, the ground connection must be undone.
- When lifting out the battery bank, please note that the weight of the battery bank is
30kg.
- When installing the middle battery bank, the jumper (between batteries 4 and 5) must
be removed (Fig.5) and a ground connection (Fig.6) must be connected in its place.
Fig. 5
Fig. 6
• Connect the battery banks to each other (X11 and X2 connections) as shown in Fig. 1.
CAUTION Make sure that the battery banks are correctly cabled! Each bank
must be connected to the one above it. Not to itself! This would
result in a short-circuit!
• Check half the battery output voltage at terminals + and Gnd1 (5+6 Fig.3); it must be
approx. 292V.
• Check half the battery output voltage at terminals - and Gnd1 (5+6 Fig.3); it must be
approx. 292V.
• Reinstall the F13 fuses.
• Switch on the SW1 switch.
• Check the AC output voltage at terminals 13 and 14 (2 Fig.3); it must be approx. 400V.
• When charging of the batteries is completed, check the "ESU ready" signal at terminals
11 and 12 (1 Fig.3); it must be approx. 0V (24V DC = battery charging has not yet
finished).
• Disconnect the X1, X2 and X3 plug-in connections on the battery charger board to be
replaced.
• Replace the battery charger board.
• Reconnect the X1, X2 and X3 plug-in connections
• Reinstall the F13 fuse.
• Set the SW1 and SW2 switches back to on.
• Check the DC voltage (6 Fig.3); it must be approx. 585V.
• Depending on the line input voltage, the TF1 transformer must be connected, see Fig. 1
and the description on the transformer.
• Set the SW1 and SW2 switches back on.
• Depending on the line input voltage, the TF2 transformer must be connected, see Fig. 1
and the description on the transformer.
• Set the SW1 and SW2 switches back to on.
• Remove the F4 and F10 fuses from the BK1 battery bank.
• Replace the SW2 switch.
• Reinstall the F10 fuse in the BK1 battery bank.
• Set the SW1 and SW2 switches back to on.
