5. Proposed title of Standard Integrating Commodity-Based and Trip-Based Approaches of Freight
Demand Modelling
Using Trip Length Distributions
6. Aspect Product Specification
7. Define subject of standard Traffic Planning
8. Most Relevant Technical Department CED (Civil Engineering Department)
Part - 3
9. Scope of proposed standard This standard covers integrating these approaches using TLDs can lead to more
efficient and
effective freight demand modeling, benefiting both logistics providers and
policymakers.
10. Purpose and Justification Traffic planners requires data cum
reporting and data collection resources to design the best economical
routes benefiting socially and economically. In this process if there is an
approximate function to convert tonnage trip length distribution (TLD) to
truck (trip) TLD then the work of data cum reporting and data cum
collection would be easy for the planners.
11. Likely users of standards and their inputs Transportation Planners, Logistics
Companies, Government Agencies, Researchers and Academics,
Freight Operators, Urban Planners, Environmental Analysts etc
12. Any related standards/series of ISO 37120, ASTM E2150 and NCHRP Report 606 (Offers guidelines for the use of commodity
standard/system standard required to make flow data for transportation planning, which can be integrated with trip-based approaches)
this subject standard complete
13. When the final standard would be required 30-09-2020. The paper has been published on February 2023.
14. Any specific problem being faced
without this standard Government Departments specially in CPWD, Inconsistent Data Interpretation,
Inefficient Planning and Difficulty in Policy Making.
15. Bearing with Govt legislation regulation, etc Currently, there are no specific
government regulations or legislation directly addressing the
integration of commodity-based and trip-based approaches in freight demand
modeling using trip length distributions.
