We would like to express our special thanks to our mentor Dr.
Yogita Naruka for her time and efforts she provided throughout
the semester. Your useful advice and suggestions were really
helpful to me during the project's completion. In this aspect, I am
eternally grateful to you.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Team

BLOG
INTRODUCTION
We have always heard people saying there is some ‘unauthenticated activity’ taking place through their
accounts. We still have no idea how such things happen
without our prior noticing and we sometimes don't even pay
heed to it considering it a technical glitch initially, and later on
losing some critical data because of carelessness.
Well, have you ever wondered who can access your personal
information online? Or how do you protect yourself from
hackers, scammers, and identity thieves? What are your rights
and responsibilities as a digital citizen?
All this is basic information that every individual must know
and be careful about. Until and unless the population is much
updated to the cybercrimes taking place, our data is not safe! Data or technically, digital data we fail to
realize what an advantageous resource it is for the people who know how to use it, so let's be responsible
and keep it safe!
TIPS AND TRICKS
The internet is a vast and wonderful world, where we can explore, learn, and connect. 1But the internet also
has its dark and dangerous side, where hackers, thieves, and bullies lurk. How can we protect ourselves from
these online threats?
In this blog, we will give you some handy tips and tricks for digital security and privacy that you can apply
to keep your online life safe and sound.
2
Digital security and privacy are like a lock and a key. They go hand in hand to safeguard your data.
3
Without digital security, your data is like an open door, inviting attacks and breaches. Without digital
privacy, your data is like a glass window, revealing your activities and preferences. Use Strong and Unique
Passwords, Enable Two-Factor Authentication, and Update Your Software and Apps.
MAJOR THREATS FACED ONLINE
● Extremely Poor Password Hygiene
Passwords are important for your online security, but they can also be the
reason why hackers can get into your accounts. Bad password practices
can lead to attacks like credential stuffing and account takeovers, where
hackers use passwords that they stole or guessed to access your
accounts.
● Inadequate Data Security Training
Cyber security drills are a good way to teach employees
how to keep digital privacy. They should learn the data
security protocols, which are the rules for protecting
the sensitive data of the customers.
● Shoulder Surfing
Shoulder surfing is a way that thieves use to get information from users who
are not careful. Before the internet, they would look at users' phones as they
pressed numbers or put in data.
Now, shoulder surfing has changed with the internet, and it means that the
thief watches the user's shoulder to see what they are writing or seeing on their
screen and can steal personal data.
● Lack of Faster Breach Response
Even if you have the best security protocols in place, a data breach can
still happen. Maintaining digital privacy does not only mean that you
need to protect your organization from every cyber-attack, it also means
preparing for prompt response, if a breach has to happen. Many lack a
faster incident response plan.
IMPORTANCE OF DIGITAL SECURITY AND PRIVACY
The importance of digital security and privacy cannot be overstated. As
we navigate the digital landscape, a collective effort from individuals,
businesses, and governments is essential to establish and uphold standards
that prioritize both security and privacy in the digital realm.
● Protection Against Cyber Threats
● Preservation of Personal Privacy
● Trust in Digital Transactions
● Organizations can reduce the chances of a successful attack and
minimize the damage that an attack can cause
4
Digital security and privacy are oxygen to our online lives. Without them, we suffocate. With them, we
breathe.1’’They are not a luxury, but a necessity. They are not a privilege, but a right. They are not a
burden, but a benefit.
FUTURE OF DIGITAL SECURITY
Digital security and privacy are 5the most important and the
most challenging issues of our time. We cannot afford to
ignore them or take them for granted. We must all take action
to protect ourselves and others from the dangers and threats of
the digital world. The future of our digital security and privacy
depends on us.
CONCLUSION
Digital security and privacy are the most important and the most challenging issues of our time. Our data is
our own responsibility. We shall be highly alert when surfing the web and make sure our information is at a
safe place. Above mentioned tips are crucial and enough to make your experience amazing!
So, make the right use of the internet and don’t let your information be used. And, have a 6happy journey in
the virtual world of the internet!

Subject: Highlights of blog on Digital Security and Privacy
Respected Ma’am
I hope this letter finds you well and happy. I am writing to share my views on digital security and privacy,
which are vital issues in our modern world. With smart devices everywhere, we are responsible for
protecting our privacy and security online. As digital citizens of our nation, we need to appreciate the
importance of digital security. It should be our top priority to keep our information secure. I chose this topic
to raise awareness among my peers about the digital threats and cybercrimes that we face today.
ELEMENTAL OF DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP
Digital literacy is a key part of digital citizenship because it helps people use, understand, and contribute to
the digital world in a responsible way. Digital literacy has many benefits, such as:
● It helps people deal with the abundance and quality of digital information.
● It gives people the skills to participate in online society, economy, and education.
● It protects people from misinformation and online risks.
● It reduces the digital gap and promotes equal access to technology.
● It encourages lifelong learning and adaptation to digital changes.
Digital literacy covers not only technical skills but also critical thinking, information evaluation, and ethical
decision-making online. It is a comprehensive and influential skillset that shapes how people engage with
the digital world.
BACKGROUND STUDY
Digital security and privacy are crucial for protecting and controlling online information and
communication. They have many benefits, such as:
● Preventing cyber-attacks that can damage data and systems. "At the bottom, the elimination of
spyware and the preservation of privacy for the consumer are critical goals if the Internet is to remain
safe and reliable and credible."
● Controlling what information is shared, with whom, and why online. "Privacy is not an option, and it
shouldn’t be the price we accept for just getting on the Internet."
● Reducing the digital gap and promoting equal access to technology. "In digital era, privacy must be a
priority. Is it just me, or is secret blanket surveillance obscenely outrageous?"
● Encouraging lifelong learning and adaptation to digital changes. "We demand privacy, yet we glorify
those that break into computers."
Digital security involves measures and technologies to stop cyber-attacks and user awareness and behaviour
to avoid online risks. "Security is always excessive until it’s not enough." Digital privacy involves rights and
practices to decide what information is shared online and ethical and legal issues of data collection, storage,
and processing. "It used to be expensive to make things public and cheap to make them private. Now it’s
expensive to make things private and cheap to make them public." Digital security and privacy are linked
and sometimes conflict, so it is important to balance them and be aware of online consequences. "When it
comes to privacy and accountability, people always demand the former for themselves and the latter for
everyone else.
LITERARY DEVICES USED IN BLOG
● PERSONIFICATION
(Have a happy journey in the virtual world of the internet!)
Personification is a technique of giving human qualities or abilities to non-human things, such as animals,
objects, or concepts. It is used to create vivid imagery, emotional appeal, or symbolic meaning in a text.
Here, the personification is the phrase "have a happy journey", which implies that the internet is a place
that one can travel to and explore, and that it has feelings and emotions. The personification also creates a
friendly and optimistic tone, as it wishes the user a pleasant and enjoyable experience in the online world.
● SIMILE
(Without digital security, your data is like an open door, inviting attacks and breaches.)
A simile is a comparison of two things that are essentially different but have some similarities, using the
words "like" or "as". In this case, the simile compares the lack of digital security to an open door,
implying that it is vulnerable, exposed, and easy to access by unwanted intruders. The simile also creates a
sense of urgency and danger, as it suggests that the consequences of having no digital security are serious
and harmful.
● METAPHOR
(Digital security and privacy are like a lock and a key.)
A metaphor is a comparison of two things essentially different but with some commonalities, without using
the words "like" or "as". In this case, the metaphor compares digital security and privacy to a lock and a
key, implying that they are both essential and complementary for protecting one's online identity and data.
The metaphor also suggests that digital security and privacy are not easy to achieve or maintain, as locks and
keys can be broken or lost.
RHETORICAL DEVICES USED IN BLOG
● CONTRAST
(But the internet also has its dark and dangerous side, where hackers, thieves, and bullies lurk.)
Contrast is a technique of highlighting the differences between two or more things, ideas, or characters. It
can create tension, suspense, or irony in a text. In this case, the contrast is between the positive and negative
aspects of the internet. The word "but" signals the shift from one side to the other. The contrast also creates
a sense of balance and fairness, as the sentence acknowledges both the good and the bad of the internet.
● ANAPHORA
(Digital security and privacy are the most important and the most challenging issues of our time.)
An anaphora is a repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses or sentences. It is used
to create emphasis, rhythm, or coherence. In this case, the anaphora is the phrase "the most", which is
repeated twice to stress the significance and difficulty of digital security and privacy in the current era. The
anaphora also creates a parallel structure that links the two issues together.
● HYPERBOLE
(Digital security and privacy are oxygen to our online lives.)
A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement that is not meant to be taken literally, but rather to emphasize a
point or create a dramatic effect. In this case, the hyperbole compares digital security and privacy to
oxygen, implying that they are essential for survival and well-being in the online world. The hyperbole also
conveys a sense of urgency and importance, as it suggests that without digital security and privacy, one's
online life would be in danger or at risk.
● ANTITHESIS
(They are not a luxury, but a necessity. They are not a privilege, but a right. They are not a burden,
but a benefit. )
Antithesis is a technique of contrasting two opposing ideas, words, or phrases in parallel grammatical
structures. It is used to create emphasis, balance, or irony in a text. In this case, the antithesis is between the
words "luxury" and "necessity", "privilege" and "right", and "burden" and "benefit". The word "not" signals
the opposition between each pair. The antithesis also creates a persuasive effect, as it implies that the subject
of the sentence (digital security and privacy) is indisputably valuable and desirable.
