5. Educational Qualification.

6. Other Eligibility Criteria. Prior to a candidate being permitted for appearing in recruitment,
following will be established in respect of the individual: -
(a) Should be resident of the Zone prescribed for recruitment for the unit to which he is
volunteering his services (Appendix-A).
(b) If he is in service of any Central/ State Government or Public Utility services, he has
to obtain permission from the Government for enrolment and also a certificate to the effect
that his services will forthwith be made available for service in the TA, whenever required.
(c) He should not belong to any Armed Force/ Reserve Force/ CAPF/ State Police Force.
(d) He should not be having any reserve liability.
(e) He should not have been dismissed from service from TA or forces as mentioned at
Para 6 (b) above.
(f) He should not be having more than one wife living.
(g) He should not have been convicted for an offence in criminal court.

7. Physical Standards:-
(a) Height - 160 cms (157 cms in case of Domicile of Eastern
Himalayan Region {Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal
Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam
and Hill Region of West Bengal (Darjeeling and
Kalimpong Districts)}, Indian Domicile Gorkha,
Garwalis and Ladakhis).

9. Trade Test.

(a) Soldier Clerk - Information Technology / Computer Proficiency test (the


Candidates will be tested on awareness of office use
software, typing, basic hardware knowledge etc as reqd of
a Clk in a unit).
(b) Tradesmen - Efficiency in their respective trade.

10. Tattoos.
(a) Candidates belonging to tribal communities/ from tribal areas, are permitted to have
permanent body tattoos on any part of the body, as per existing customs and traditions of the
said tribe to which a candidate belongs. Such candidates will only be permitted on producing
the following two certificates:-

(i) Self certification certificate to be signed by the candidates in the format as


enclosed (Appendix-B).
(ii) Certificate of belonging to a tribal community and permissibility of permanent
Body Tattoo(s) to be signed by DC/ DM or SDM of the District/ Tehsil where the tribe
of the candidates is presently settled in the format enclosed at (Appendix-C) (Name
and designation of the concerned official must be clearly mentioned).
(b) Permanent body tattoos of religious sentiment are only permitted on inner face of
forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/ back (dorsal)
side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable and
candidates will be barred from further selection.
11. Physical Fitness Test. - Physical fitness carrying 100 marks will be held as under:-

#Note :- For Soldier Clerk category, 1 Mile run, Pull ups will be qualifying test and no marks
will be awarded.

12. Written Examination. - Candidates who qualify in the physical and


medical examination will undergo written
examination, the Question Paper of which would
be bilingual (English & Hindi).

13. Examination Level. - The written examination would consist of one paper
(objective type) of two hours duration and of matriculate/ eighth class standard, as applicable,
having following syllabus of CBSE: -
(a) Soldier General Duty & Tradesmen.
(i) General Knowledge having 20 questions of 02 marks each.
(ii) General Science having 15 questions of 02 marks each.
(iii) Elementary Maths having 15 questions of 02 marks.
(b) Soldier Clerks.

(i) General Knowledge & Gen Science having 10 questions of 02 marks each.
(ii) Elementary Maths & Computer science having 15 questions of 02 marks each.
(iii) General English having 25 questions of 02 marks each.

(c) There will be no negative marking. The candidates have to score min 32 marks for
Soldier (General Duty) & Soldier Tradesmen and 40 marks for Soldier Clerks respectively to
pass the exam.

14. Date of written exam (CEE) will be communicated at a later stage to all candidates passing
physical, medical examinations and trade tests (wherever applicable).

15. Screening/ Aptitude Test (for Soldier General Duty of Home and Hearth Units including
162 Infantry Battalion (TA) JAK LI). For candidates who have passed Physical Fitness Tests,
medical test, trade tests (wherever applicable) and Written Examination, a screening/ Aptitude Test
will be conducted to ascertain a candidates suitability for carrying out tasks in these Battalions.

16. Preparation of final merit list shall be carried out only for those candidates who pass Physical
Fitness Tests and medical test, trade tests (wherever applicable), Written Examination (CEE) and
screening/ Aptitude Test (wherever applicable).

17. Documents Required. Candidates are required to carry the following certificates in
original alongwith two sets of Photostat copies of the certificates duly attested :-

(a) Birth Certificate. Birth Certificate issued by Registrar of Births and Deaths or 10th
Class Board Certificate showing date of birth.
(b) Education Certificates
(i) Education certificate with marks sheet of all educational qualifications achieved
by candidate i.e Matric/ Intermediate etc from recognized School/ College/ Board/
University.
(ii) Provisional/ online education certificate should be certified ink signed by the
head of the educational institution of concerned Board/ University.
(iii) Candidates with matric certificate from Open School should bring School
Leaving Certificate countersigned by BEO/ DEO.
(iv) Education Boards recognised by State Govt / UT administrations as enclosed
at (Appendix-D) will only be accepted.

(v) For 8th Class Pass Candidates. 8th class pass mark sheet and transfer cert
issued by school (both cert) should be countersigned by District Inspector of School/
District Education Officer.
(c) Domicile Certificate. Domicile Certificate with photograph issued by Tehsildar/
District Magistrate.
(d) Caste/ Tribe/ Community Certificate. Caste/ Tribe/ Community certificate affixed
with photograph of the candidate issued by the Tehsildar/ Sub Divisional Magistrate/ District
Magistrate.
(e) Religion Certificate. Religion Certificate to be issued by the Tehsildar/ SDM (if
religion as “SIKH/ HINDU/ MUSLIM/ CHRISTIAN” is not mentioned in caste certificate).
(f) Character Certificate. Character Certificate with photograph issued by Village
Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation/ SHO/ Head of Educational Institute within last six months.
(g) Marital Status Certificate. Married/ unmarried certificates issued by Village
Sarpanch/ Municipal Corporation within last six months.
(h) Relationship Certificate. Candidates who are Son of Serving Solider/ Son of Ex
Serviceman/ Sons of Widow/ Son of War Widow are required to produce the following
documents:-
(i) Relationship certificate issued from respective Record Office only duly signed
by Record Officer with Personal Number, Rank, Name and particular of the Record
Officer issuing the Relationship Certificate with office seal/ stamp is endorsed.
Relationship certificate should bear water marks of the concern Records.
(ii) A declaration to the effect as mentioned in Affidavit on Ten Rupees Non-Judicial
Stamp paper prepared by the ESM duly signed by 1st Class/ Executive/ Judicial
Magistrate is required to be submitted by the candidate at rally site. Format of
affidavit is attached at (Appendix-E).
(iii) Original Discharge Book of Ex-Servicemen also to be produced. Name and
date of birth of the candidate must have been recorded in it.
(j) Sports Certificates. The certificates issued by National/ State Sports
Authorities or Government bodies of particular sports in respect of the following will be
accepted:-
(i) Represented India at the International Level.
(ii) Represented State at the Senior/ Junior National Level.
(iii) Represented State at National Level in Khelo India Games.
(iv) Represented District at the State level and have won any medal in individual
event or have reached upto 4th position in the team event.
(v) Represented the State School Team in the events organized by All India School
Games Federation.
(vi) List of Sports for enrolment is attached as (Appendix-F).
(k) PAN Card & AADHAR Card. PAN Card & AADHAR Card are mandatory
documents for final enrolment.

18. Photographs. Twenty 20 copies of unattested Passport size colour photographs


developed on good quality photographic paper in white background not more than three months old.
Computerised/ photocopied/ shopped photographs will NOT be accepted. Photographs must be
with proper haircut and clean shave (except Sikh Candidates).

19. Important points for the candidates.


(a) Territorial Army, is purely voluntary organisation with part time commitment only.
The organisation does not provide or promise any permanent employment.
(b) The initial period of enrolment will be 07 (seven) years only. Extensions beyond
initial 07 (seven) years are subject to organisational requirement & fulfilment of other criteria
as laid down from time to time.
(c) On successful enrolment, employment will be based on Government Sanction and
organisational requirement.
(d) Longer embodiments as and when required by the organisation will be called for,
however, the same is not assured or promised.
(e) The organisation does not promise pension and the same is contingent to other factors
such as embodiment & qualifying service.
(f) Selected candidates will have to undergo training at nominated Training Centers
anywhere in India or abroad as decided by the competent authority.
(g) After enrolment, at any time during the first two years of training, if an individual is
unlikely to become an efficient soldier, he would be discharged from TA Service.
(h) Candidates after successful enrolment in TA would be governed by TA Act 1948, TA
Rules 1948 (as amended from time to time) and TA Regulations 1948 (Revised Edition 1976).
20 The authorities conducting the rally will not be responsible for any accident/ injuries
to the candidates during recruitment rally.

21. Instruction for Candidates.


(a) Recruitment is a free service, do not pay bribe to anyone.
(b) Beware of touts.
(c) If any investigation reveals any candidate’s involvement with a tout, the candidate’s
selection is liable for cancellation by the competent authority.
(d) Overwriting/ Tampering with Certificates is not acceptable.
(e) If after successful enrolment of candidate, it is revealed that the candidate had
produced fake documents and submitted false information for seeking enrolment, it will lead
to termination of service irrespective of length of enrolled service.
(f) Use of unfair means during Rally/ Medical exams/ Written exams will make
candidature liable for cancellation.
(g) Mobile Phones/ Digital/ Smart devices meant for Communication, Photography
or any other purpose will not be brought to the rally site/ written examination center.
