DMaaS with Full Flexibility for your Hybrid Cloud

Notes:

Hybrid cloud support requires flexibility in storage targets for performance and scalability.

Whether you are protecting data on-premise, physical machines, or cloud native database application
customers need flexibility to decide where to protect their data.

Let’s look at how the data flows through the system, there are two deployment models for VMs, Databases,
and Files.

The first, on the left-hand side, is recommended for on-prem, which uses a Backup Gateway.

The ackup ateway is Metallic software installed on a customer’s Windows server. It allows them to take
backups across the local network with a high level of performance and keep that active local copy, which also
allows for quick recoveries across the local network.

For the cloud copy, they can write either to the Metallic® Recovery Reserve or to their own storage, either in
Azure or AWS.

On the right-hand side, we have the direct cloud deployment model.

This is for servers that reside in the cloud where customers install Metallic software on those servers, and
those servers write directly to the Metallic® cloud storage service.

In all cases, connections from the servers being backed up and from the Metallic gateway are all outbound
from the customer’s network so no inbound connections are required.
