2- SCOPE OF WORK
2.1- General Description
The scope of work to define the method to install shoring and protection for the duct bank in phase 2 zone 1 which is
collapsed and pended while the construction work by previous and other contractor.
2.2 Purpose
The purpose is to ensure that the work and the related activities are going on without significant risk to health
and or safety the areas of the work is clear from any obstruction and to safe all embedded utilities possible to be
damaged or disturbed during the scope of work.

2.3 Plant and equipment
All Equipment shall have TUV’s and provided with safety precautionary signal and Alarm system.
Equipment and Tools
- Cranes
- Shackles, chains, slings
- Vibro Hammer – ICE 815 or equivalent.
- Chain Blocks, pullers
- Impact Wrenches
- Torque wrenches
- Various hand tools (spanners, podgers, levels hammers, socket sets)

2.4 Site Planning and Preparation
❖ Prior to mobilizing the equipment on site, working area for crane position, material stocking shall be planned. Both
party representative shall inspect all equipment prior to the start of job
❖ PTJ Will assign safety officer approved by MARAFIQ/ILF Department to supervise the protection work and any related
works to ensure that MARAFIQ ES& H requirements will be follow.
)
2.5 Work Methodology
Qualify and investigate utilities weather active or abandoned and report status for consideration.
Safety personnel will enforce ES&H standard such as posting safety warning signs & barricades for protection.
2.6 Work procedure:
- Guides made of steel beams shall be used as per site requirements. survey marking of sheet pile periphery and
existing utilities prior starting the JOP .
- The crawler crane shall be set in proper position and secured in place. Barricade the location of the crane, materials
and area to be piled.
- Crane specification and lift radius will be confirmed in lift plan to be provided for approval before erection commences.
- Secure the lifting area by barricading and not allowing unauthorized personnel within the crane radius.
- With the aid of the main hook block of the crane, Vibro-Hammer will be lifted
- Sheet piles SP3W of 12m long with 600mm width will be used, which will be placed within the accessible distance, shall
be lifted by the auxiliary hoist and transferred to the vibro-hammer, which then clamps in its jaws securely.
- The sheet pile is rig over to the location of the pile position and driven to the required depth or until hard strata
whichever is reaches first.
- Upon completing the driving of the pile, it is release from the Hammer and move on to the next sheet pile. Each
adjacent pile is guided into the groove forming an interlock and driven in the same way as the previous one.
- Provide an access for the excavator and dump trucks when driving the pile, especially in wide areas to be excavated.
Piles on access are usually driven lower than the existing grade to allow passage of the trucks and other necessary
equipment inside.
- start the excavation after completing the installation of all the sheet pile with interlock system.
- After reaching required level, excavation shall be stopped and if required steel beams bracing shall be fixed with welded
joints. If any welding related activities shall be done, it would be by experience welder, Bracing will be done by using the
HEB300 H-Beams after installing the Sheet Piles Bracing will be placed at 0.5m to 1m depth from top of the sheet piles.
- Once the civil work is completed backfilling shall be done, simultaneously bracing shall be removed once the backfilling
reaches the respective bracing level.

- On completion of the works, the sheet piles are extracted or left in position as per the discretion of the engineer in-
charge.
- After completing the extraction work, all equipment and material will be demobilized from site. All rigging equipment
shall be fully inspected.
2.7 Organization, Responsibility & Supervision
Site supervisor:
It is the responsibility of the site supervisor to look after the safety of his personnel and equipment.
It is the responsibility of the site supervisor to guide his workers to perform quality work by following the correct
working procedure.
It is the responsibility of the site supervisor to report to the site engineer all irregularities committed by the worker for
proper disciplinary action.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to provide flagman to equipment works.
Safety officer:
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to conduct safety inspection on daily basis.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to rectify unsafe work going on by workers by giving them quick advice on
how to correct their unsafe practices.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to stop work if he finds any risk situation & allow them to continue only if
rectifying has been complete.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to make sure that safety warning sign & protection for ongoing works are
implement.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to inspect drivers/operators TUVs and licenses.
It is the responsibility of the safety supervisor to report to his supervisor any incident/accident happened in the prior to
site.
Quality control inspector:
It is the responsibility of the QC inspector to conduct site inspection on going work activities on daily basis.
It is the responsibility of the QC inspector to correct work not following quality
It is the responsibility of the QC inspector to check materials used in the site as per approved submittal.
3. Health & safety
3.1 Risks and hazards
Accident & injuries due to equipment:

Worker hit by the dump truck doing reverse movement.
Worker over run by the moving equipment due to poor visibility & not wearing life vest reflective vest during dusty
weather operation.
Collision of equipment due to lack of warning system e.g. back up alarms, emergency light.
3.3 Personal Protective Equipment:
The following are listing of personal protective equipment:
Helmet
Safety shoes (with steel toe)
Hand gloves
Safety goggles
Dust mask
Life vest reflective vest
Personal protective equipment will be considered only as a “last resort of defense” against potential risk and hazards,
where so ever possible hazards and risk to be addressed and reduced by other means.
PTJ will ensure that adequate stock of personal protective equipment is ready either available on site or store, personnel
PPE shall be considered as consumable items.
All used PPE shall be manufactured shall comply with ES&H standards.
3.4 Information to Personnel
All manual& operating workers with in the project site will be conformed& reminded by conducting safety toolbox
meeting to report any risk of unsafe working condition that requires safety attention.
3.5 Emergency procedures
The following are safety procedure will be implement in case of accident:
No one is allowed to touch the victim except first aider
Don’t change or replace anything in the scene
In case of fatal or minor accident, Don’t Panic seek the assistance immediately
Use emergency telephone contact posted on site for rescue action towards the victim.
