Surpassing her bandmate Rosé, who

During his ongoing military service in the
South Korean Army, Jimin, renowned as a
singer-songwriter and a member of the
globally acclaimed boy band BTS, has
recently opened up about the challenges
and reflections brought on by a
challenging military life.

Enlisting alongside fellow BTS member
Jungkook on December 12, 2023, Jimin
has spent significant time in training,
gaining new insights that have prompted
him to reflect on his relationships outside
the military.
In a candid moment shared with his close
friend and fellow artist Ha Sung-woon,
Jimin expressed heartfelt regret for not
maintaining closer contact during Sung-
woon’s own military service. Sung-woon,
a popular figure in the Korean music
industry and a member of the former boy
group Wanna One, disclosed in a recent
interview with GQ Korea's July 2024 issue
that Jimin had reached out to him during
his military stint.
During their conversation, Sung-woon
recalled Jimin’s apology, revealing, “Once
Jimin, who was in the military, called me
and said that he was sorry. I asked him,
‘Why are you sorry?’ and laughed because
I knew exactly how he felt. He said,
‘Hyung, I played too much when you were
in the military… I am so sorry that I didn’t
call you…’” Sung-woon empathized with
Jimin’s realization, humorously pointing
out the challenges of military life, saying,
“Hey, you see? Right? You can now feel
how hard it was for me right? But now I’m
getting out!”
Sung-woon, 30, completed his military
service as a corporal on April 23, 2024,
after enlisting on October 24, 2022.
Meanwhile, Jimin continues his service,
with expectations for his discharge in June
next year.

firestorm of global outrage among ARMY,
the dedicated fandom of BTS, with a
controversial response to fans’
anticipation for Jimin’s upcoming second
solo album, 'MUSE'.

Scheduled for release on July 19 while
Jimin serves in the military, the album’s
pre-release track, 'Smeraldo Garden
Marching Band (feat.
Loco)', is set to debut on June 28. As fans
worldwide mobilized to support the
release through platforms like X, the
situation took an unexpected turn.
Ray Kurzeka, Vice President and Head of
Streaming at Geffen Records, responsible
for the U.S. distribution of HYBE’s music,
which includes BTS, posted what many
perceived as a dismissive remark.
He tweeted "song of the year" alongside a
link to a song by Gracie Abrams featuring
Taylor Swift. This action was swiftly
interpreted as belittling Jimin’s upcoming
solo album and K-pop in general,
reflecting insensitivity towards Asian
artists and reinforcing notions of Western
cultural dominance.
The backlash from ARMY was immediate
and widespread, with fans asserting that
such remarks from a key figure
overseeing BTS’s U.S.

distribution were 'disrespectful' and
'mocking'. They called for an apology
from Kurzeka and demanded clearer
communication about purchasing options
for Jimin’s album. However, instead of
addressing the issue directly, Kurzeka
chose to delete the controversial post,
lock his X account, and deactivate all
personal social media profiles, a move
that further fueled fan anger and
discontent.
The response from both Geffen Records
and HYBE, BTS’s management agency,
has been notably silent, leaving fans
feeling ignored and betrayed. Many within
the fandom expressed disappointment
and frustration, pointing out the
companies’ failure to protect their artists
despite previous assurances of support.

statement posted on the fan community
platform Weverse on June 24, the agency
expressed deep concern over the
escalating defamation, insults, and

towards Zico across various online
platforms.

According to AllKpop, “We have confirmed
that recently various malicious posts and
comments involving defamation, insults,
and spreading false information about our
artist Zico have been indiscriminately
written on online communities and social
media”, the agency declared, highlighting
the severity of the situation.
The statement continued with a decisive
tone, addressing the specific nature of the
false rumors and their impact on Zico’s
reputation, “Particularly, the spread of
malicious rumors and false information,
which are clearly unrelated to the artist,
has reached an intolerable level of
severity, prompting us to take strong legal
action”.
KOZ Entertainment affirmed their
proactive stance in combating these
issues, stating, “Accordingly, we have
collected evidence from various online
communities and social media and
submitted complaints to investigative
agencies. We plan to continue collecting
evidence and filing complaints on a
regular basis”.
Regarding recent baseless accusations
linking Zico to the theft of the late Goo
Hara’s safe, which resurfaced after a
montage of the suspect aired on
'Unanswered Questions', the agency
vehemently refuted any connection,
clarifying, “We also confirm that the
recent rumors about the artist are untrue
and we will respond firmly to these as
well”.

The agency assured a rigorous approach
to identifying and pursuing legal action
against those responsible for spreading
malicious content, “We will take strict
measures against those who post
malicious comments, based on evidence
gathered from fan reports and our
monitoring. We will hold them
accountable to the end, regardless of the
time it takes, and there will be no
leniency or settlements in any case”.
Concluding their statement, KOZ
Entertainment emphasized the
importance of community support in their
efforts, “Your interest and reports are a
great help in our legal response.

Entertainment”.
The controversy arose following the
broadcast of 'Unanswered Questions' on
June 22, where a composite sketch of a
suspect involved in the robbery of the late
Goo Hara’s safe was revealed after four
years. Speculations linking Zico to the
incident surfaced on social media, drawing
connections to his past comments about a
'golden phone'. However, KOZ
Entertainment swiftly rebutted these
allegations, asserting their commitment to
pursuing legal action against the
propagation of false information.
