O CHRIST-WORSHIPPERS! POEM BY IBN UL QAYYIM

ُ ‫يح لَنَا‬
‫سؤَال * نُ ِري ُد َج َوا َبهُ َّم ِم ْن َوعَا ُه‬ ِ ‫س‬ِ ‫ع َّبا َد ال َم‬
ُ ‫أ‬
O Christ-worshippers, we have a question,
seeking its answer from those who [allegedly] understand.

ِ ‫ص ْنع قوم * أ َماتُوهُ فَما هذَا‬

‫اإللهُ؟‬ ُ ‫اإللهُ ِب‬
ِ َ‫إذا مات‬
If The God was murdered by a people's action,
what kind of God is this – do you not understand?

َ ‫َو َه ْل أرضاه ما نَالُوهُ ِم ْنهُ؟ * فبُش َْراه ْم إذا نالُوا ِر‬

ُ‫ضاه‬
Was He pleased by what they did to Him?
If yes, glad tidings to them for achieving Pleasure Divine and Grand,

ْ ‫ط الّذِى فَعَلُوهُ * فيه فَقُ َّوت ُ ُه ْم إِذًا‬

ُ‫أو َهتْ قُ َواه‬ َ ‫س ِخ‬
َ ‫َوإِ ْن‬
But if He was discontented of their action on Him,
This means their power had subjugated His Power and Command!

‫يب لَ ِم ْن َدعَاهُ؟‬
ُ ‫ست َ ِج‬ َ * ‫الو ُجو ُد ِبالَ ِإله‬
ْ َ‫س ِميع ي‬ ُ ‫َو َه ْل بَ ِقى‬
Was the entire existence left without a God sustaining,
Or listening to the supplications [let alone answer] from across the land?

َ ‫ َوقَ ْد‬،‫ب‬
ُ‫عالَه‬ ِ ‫س ْب ُع * لَ ّما ث َ َوى تَحتَ الت ُّ َرا‬
َّ ‫ق ال‬ ّ ِ ‫ت ال‬
ُ ‫طبَا‬ ِ َ‫َو َه ْل َخل‬
And has there become a vacancy in the seven Heavens,
When He laid under the ground despite being above and beyond?

ُ ‫ َوقَ ْد‬،‫ت ا ْلعَ َوالُ ِم ِمن إِله * يُ َدبِّر َها‬

‫س ِم َرتْ يَدَاهُ؟‬ ِ َ‫َو َه ْل َخل‬
And were all the worlds left without a Divine Being,
to manage while nails pierced His Hand?

‫س ِمعُوا بُكاهُ؟‬ َ ُ‫ت األ َ ْمالَك‬

َ ‫ َوقَ ْد‬،‫ع ْنهُ * ِبنَص ِْر ِه ُم‬ ِ ‫ْف ت َ َخ ْل‬
َ ‫َو َكي‬
And how dare the Angels leave Him wailing,
Not helping nor saving – while watching from around?

‫وكيف أطاقت الخشبات حمل ال * إله الحق مشدودا قفاه؟‬

How could the wooden sticks be bearing,
The Weight of the True God when He was fastened,

‫ َويَ ْل َحقَهُ أذَاهُ؟‬،ُ‫طه‬

َ ‫ْف َدنَا ال َحدِي ُد إِلَ ْي ِه َحتَّى * يُ َخا ِل‬
َ ‫َوكي‬
And how could the iron nails pierce Him,
Thus harming Him, did He fail to withstand?

‫صفَعُوا قَفَا ُه؟‬

َ ‫ْث قَ ْد‬ َ ‫ْف تَم ْكنَتْ أ َ ْيدِى ِعدَا ُه * َو‬
ُ ‫طالتْ َحي‬ َ ‫َوكي‬
And how could His enemies' hands and grim,
reach Him and slap His rear – is this logical or sound?

ِ ‫سي ُح إِلَى َحيَاة * أ َ َم ال ُمحْ يى لَهُ َرب‬

‫س َواهُ؟‬ ِ ‫َو َه ْل عَا َد ال َم‬
And was Christ – to Himself - reviving,
or was there another Reviver around?

ُ ‫ض َّم َربا * َوأ َ ْع َج‬

ُ‫ب ِم ْنهُ بَ ْطن قَ ْد َح َواه‬ َ ‫ع َجبا ً ِلقَبْر‬
َ ‫َويَا‬
Amazing that a grave – to God – was confining,
Stranger even is the belly in which He was inside!

ُ‫ت ِم ْن َحيْض ِغذَاه‬ ُّ ‫ش ُهور* لَدَى ال‬

ِ ‫ظلُ َما‬ ْ ِ‫أَقَا َم ُهنَاكَ ت‬
ُ ‫سعا ً ِم ْن‬
For nine months, He was remaining,
Fed through blood, in darkness, shut-eyed!

ُ‫ فَاتِحا ً ِللثَّدْى فَاه‬،ً‫ض ِعيفا‬

َ * ً ‫ص ِغيرا‬ َ ‫ق ا ْلفَ ْر‬
َ ‫ج َم ْولُودًا‬ َّ ‫ش‬
َ ‫َو‬
Then he was pulled out of the womb as a small baby,
Weak, for milk, he was gasping and open-mouthed!

‫ َه ْل هذَا ِإلهُ؟‬، َ‫ ث َّم يَأْتِى * ِبالَ ِز ِم ذَاك‬،‫ب‬

ُ ‫ ث َّم يَش َْر‬،‫َويَأ ْ ُك ُل‬
He ate and drank, and did what that resulted naturally,
Is this [what you call] a god? No logic found!
‫ترا ُه‬ ْ ‫ع َّما‬
َ ‫اف‬ َ ‫سيُسأ َ ُل ُكلَّ ُه ْم‬
َ * ‫ارى‬
َ ‫ص‬َ َّ‫ت َ َعالَى هللاُ ع َْن ِإ ْف ِك الن‬
High and Exalted be Allah above the lies of Christianity,
All of these liars will be held accountable for their libels so profound!

ْ ‫ ألَى َم ْع ِنّى * يُعَظ ُم‬،‫ب‬

‫أو يُقَبَّ ُح َم ْن َر َماهُ؟‬ ِ ‫ص ِلي‬ ُ َ‫أ‬
َّ ‫عبَّا َد ال‬
O Cross-worshippers, for what reasoning,
Is exalted or blamed those who reject it and throw it on the ground?

ْ ‫َو َه ْل ت َ ْق ِضى العقو ُل ِبغَي ِْر َك‬

‫ َولَ ِم ْن بَغَاهُ؟‬،ُ‫سر * َوإحْ َراق لَه‬
Is it not logical for the cross to be broken,
along with the ones who innovated it and are crowned?

‫س ِمير َيدَا ُه‬ ُ ‫علَ ْي ِه ك ُْرها ً * َوقَ ْد‬

ْ َ ‫شدَّتْ ِلت‬ َ ُ‫اإلله‬
ِ ‫ب‬َ ‫ِإذَا َر ِك‬
Since the God was placed on it while hating -
it and His Hands were fastened well and nailed?

ُ‫سهُ إِ ْذ ت َ َراه‬ ْ ‫َب ال َم ْلعُو ُن َحقا * فَ ُد‬

ْ ُ‫ ال تَب‬،ُ‫سه‬ ُ ‫فَذَاكَ ال َم ْرك‬
That is really a cursed cross to be carrying,
So, discard it, do not kiss it when it is sighted around!

ُ‫طرا * وت َ ْعبُ ُدهُ؟ فَ ِإنّكَ ِم ْن ِعدَاه‬

ُ ‫لق‬
ِ ‫ب ا ْل َخ‬
ُّ ‫علَ ْي ِه َر‬
َ ‫يُ َها ُن‬
The Lord of creation was humiliated on it and dying,
and you worship it? You are one of His enemies as those in the Holy Land!

ُ‫عالَه‬ َّ ‫ظ ْمتَهُ ِم ْن أَجْ ِل أ َ ْن قَ ْد * َح َوى َر‬

َ ‫ َوقَ ْد‬،ِ‫ب ال ِعبَاد‬ ِّ ‫ع‬
َ ‫ف ِإ ْن‬
If – to the cross – you remain exalting,
Because to the Lord of the worshipper, it could withstand,

ُ‫سنَاه‬ َ ُ‫ ف ِإ ْن * َرأ َ ْينَا لَه‬،‫يب‬

َ ‫ش ْكالً تَذَك َّْرنَا‬ َّ ‫َوقَ ْد فُ ِق َد ال‬
ُ ‫ص ِل‬
And when the cross is hidden, then indeed,
Seeing what resembles it reminds of what happened.

‫القبر َربّكَ فى َحشَاهُ؟‬

ِ ‫ضم‬ ُ َ‫س َجدْت‬
ّ ِ َ‫طرا * ل‬ َ ‫للقبور‬
ِ ّ‫فَ َهال‬
So, why don't you prostrate yourself and worship grounds of burying,
Since, in the grave, your God was contained!

ُ‫ َوهذَا ُم ْنتَهاه‬،ُ‫ * فَ َهذَا ِبدَايَتُه‬، ْ‫سيح أَفِق‬

ِ ‫الم‬ َ ‫فَيَا‬
ِ ‫ع ْب َد‬
So, Christ-worshippers, wake up and start seeing,
That this is what the matter in entirety – simply explained.
