1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Project Background
The Idd El Shargi (IS) field is located in the Arabian Gulf, 80 km east of the Qatar peninsula and 20 km
south of Halul Island. The majority of the processing of the IS production is carried out on a complex of
platforms called Production Station One (PS1), which has been extended and rearranged several times
over the lifetime of the field.
Oil and produced water from PS1 is transported to Halul Island via pipeline. The produced gas from
PS1 complex is compressed and dehydrated before it is exported to Mesaieed via 24” pipeline. Prior to
gas export it is blended with gas from PS2 and PS3. Part of the export gas is also used as fuel gas and
lift gas.
Phase 5.2 Project includes three new wellhead platforms (WHP) IS-T07, IS-S07 and IS-V09, and
associated pipelines and umbilicals, and modifications at the existing PS1 platforms. These WHPs are
Normally Unattended Installations on 4 legged jackets with 16 slot design of 4x4 configuration.
• 10” Water Injection Pipeline from Subsea Wye (Near PS-1K) to IS-S07
This report includes the quantities of flanges and fittings as listed below.
• Riser hanger flanges as summarized in Table 4-1 of Sec. 4 and also detailed in Table 5-1 of
Sec.5.
• Subsea flanges as summarized in Sec. 4 which include the followings.
̶ Subsea pipeline tie-in flanges (as detailed in Sec. 5);
̶ Flanges used on subsea skid piping and those used for subsea skid piping tie-in with
pipeline (as detailed in Sec. 6).
Subsea flanges may be updated based on finalized spool and subsea skid piping arrangement.
• Topside flanges and fittings along topside pipeline from riser top to pig launcher/receiver as
presented in Sec. 7.
The quantities are provided by piping discipline. However, this may be updated based on
finalized topside pipeline route layout.
• Welding test rings as summarized in Table 4-4 of Sec. 4.
1.5 SYSTEM OF UNITS
The international system (SI) of unit is adopted as the main system of units throughout the project,
unless otherwise noted. Although some of the computer programs have been developed using the
imperial units, the results shall be reported in SI units.
2.0 GENERAL
Carbon steel forged flange shall be in accordance with QP-STD-R-001 (QP Standard for Material
Selection for Sour Services), DEP 31.40.21.34-Gen, DEP 31.40.21.37-Gen and Project Specification
for Flange Doc. No.4497-YPS1-7-14-0003 and Hanger Flange Doc. No.4497-YPS1-7-14-0004.
a Material grade for all flanges shall be ASTM A694 F65 and shall be suitable for sour service
requirements as per NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 with amendments/supplements in QP-STD-R-
001 Rev 3 and DEP 39.01.10.12-Gen.
b The flange type shall be designed in accordance with ASME B16.5 and ISO 15590-3.
c Gaskets for subsea flanges shall be designed in accordance with ASME B16.20 and shall be
octagonal “R” type RTJ gaskets, except for RF blind flange for pre-commissioning. RF spiral
wound gasket is used for RF blind flange for pre-commissioning.
d Subsea pipeline flanges for permanent usage shall receive a minimum of 3.2mm thick cladding
of Inconel Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) as per DEP 31.40.21.37-Gen. The entire flange face and
ring groove surfaces of subsea flanges are to be cladded.
e Blind flanges for temporary closure at riser bottom, pipeline pulling and termination heads,
which may be wet stored on seabed for a certain duration, and permanent blind flange on
subsea skids shall be cladded with a minimum of 3.2mm thick Inconel Alloy 625 on groove only.
f Flange supplied shall be suitable for welding to pipeline in accordance with Specification for
Pipeline Welding Doc. No. 4497-YPS1-7-14-0009.
h Subsea flanges for permanent usage shall be coated with thermally sprayed aluminum (TSA)
with minimum thickness of 250 microns.
i Bolts and nuts for subsea application shall be in compliance with ASTM A320 L7M and ASTM
A194 Gr. 7M respectively. For subsea bolts and nuts, the coating shall be SermaGard 1105
base-coat of 38-50 microns thickness and SermaGard 1280 top-coat of 12.5-25.4 microns
thickness based on section 10 of 4497-YPS1-5-0008.
j The stud bolt length shall be sufficient to accommodate hydraulic bolt tensioner equipment.
Subsea studs shall have additional length of 400mm to satisfy hydraulic tensioning
requirements.
k Nuts intended for subsea application shall be pre-drilled ‘Tommy bar’ holes to facilitate
tightening by the hydraulic tensioner.
l The requirements of bolts, nuts and gaskets shall be in accordance with Specification for
Flanges, Doc. No. 4497-YPS1-7-14-0003.
m Hanger Flange shall have minimum 150mm straight hub length to meet the requirement for
further UT of field girth welds at both ends.
The contingency and spare quantities herein are based on common industry practice, code
requirement and identified quantities required for testing.
The below flanges and fittings’ contingency philosophy applies for the submarine pipelines.

2. The subsea flanges considered are from riser hanger flange (top of riser) to riser hanger flange (top of riser) at the other side, include swivel flange at
tie-in point of spool and skid piping. For subsea skid weld neck flange and topside piping flange refer to section 6.0 & 7.0 of this MTO respectively.
3. Cladding of pipeline WN and Swivel flanges require 3.2mm Inconel 625 cladding on Ring groove, and flange face as per 4497-YPS1-7-14-0003.
4. Cladding of blind flanges requires 3.2mm Inconel 625 cladding on ring groove only.
5. TSA means the flange shall be coated with thermally sprayed aluminum (TSA) with minimum thickness of 250 microns.
6. 1UN means the flange shall be painted with schedule 1 UN external coating as per QP-SPC-L-002. 1UN shall be applied by EPIC CONTRACTOR at
fabrication yard. Flange supplier to apply water based anti-rust vanish before delivery to CONTRACTOR.
7. For temporary flange used for onshore hydrotest and pre-commissioning, water based anti-rust vanish is acceptable.
8. Hanger Flange shall have minimum 150mm straight hub length to meet the requirement for further UT of field girth welds at both ends (e.g. minimum
150mm).

1. The number of spare parts for flange bolts and nuts for onshore installed riser pre-commissioning is equal to 30% of the actual amount.
2. The number of spare parts for flange bolts and nuts for pre-commissioning of spool piece, offshore installed riser and subsea installation is equal to

1. Hanger flanges and subsea tie-in flanges shall be manufactured by the same manufacturer; test rings provided for pipe dimension apply for both

2. Test ring bevel shall be beveled per requirement of approved WPS.
3. The material, specifications, heat treatment process, chemical composition, supply status, manufacturer, and batch number of the test rings shall be
consistent with the flanges.
4. Materials with the largest CE&PCM in the project regardless of size must be selected and supplied for welding procedure and welder qualification.
The CE of the welding qualification material shall not be lower than the maximum CE-0.02 of the project material; The PCM of the welding
qualification material shall not be lower than the maximum PCM-0.015 of the project material;
CE=C+Mn/6+(Cr+Mo+v)/5+(Cu+Ni)/15;PCM=C+Si/30+(Mn+Cu+Cr)/20+Ni/60+Mo/15+V/10+5B.
