Curriculum Change
Concept of change:
Change is a constant law of nature. It always brings improvement. In
process of change something is restructured in a new shape, revised and
changed into new shape.
Change of curriculum:
When curriculum is evaluated then it needs to be changed into a new
better shape.
Drivers of curriculum change:
Drivers mean causes of which things a curriculum is changed.
1. Need of society and nation:
It is a big cause that if a curriculum is not shaped according to level or
minds of students, society and nation then it is changed so such contents
can be added that meet their demands.
2. Staff dissatisfaction:
If any old curriculum isn't enough effective for the teachers and
students are not satisfy to teach such a curriculum, then curriculum will
be changed.
3. Environmental change:
The impacts of global warming and climate change on earth and for its
prevention and awareness, our generation should be provided that
knowledge related to climate change or any other information related
to earth climate.
4. Demands of stakeholders.
The ideas of stakeholders and high valued persons are also included in
a curriculum; it needs to be changed if a curriculum doesn't meet their
ideas.

Restrictions of curriculum change:


1. Rigid or conservative minded teachers:
Teacher who are trained for the new change oppose the change because
they don’t have potential for new curriculum.
2. Strict values:
There are some strict values in society that obstruct for new change so
such contents couldn’t be added these are designed to such values.
3. Lack of fund:
Newly developed curriculum always needs funds to publishing new
books that causes of low budget it is not accomplished due to lack of
fund.
4. Shortage of time:
In a short academic time, curriculum cannot be taught and also teachers
cannot be trained in a short time. And also research for curriculum in a
short time is a big obstruct for curriculum change.
5. Lack of curriculum experts:
Usually there is lack of expert person who can help in to designing a
new curriculum in districts as well in country.
Need to change curriculum
 A curriculum needs to be changed to restructuring it according
to needs, interest and demands of students and teachers etc.
 To eliminate unnecessary units, contents and experiences etc.
 To introduced new contents, experiences practices and methods
etc.
 To meet local, national and international demands.

Keys steps for managing change in curriculum

1. Stimulus for change and situational analysis:

Stimulus for change mean the reasons of change such as students needs,
societal needs and advancement in knowledge and situational analysis
mean assessing the current curriculum to identify strength, weaknesses
and areas needing improvement.

2. Communication with stakeholders:

It is consulted with expertise, teachers, parents and students for their


any concerns, idea and feedback.

3. Planing phase:

This phase is the planning for sitting objectives according to diagnosed


information.

4. Implementation:
All objectives are implemented in curriculum.

5. Monitoring transition management:

Tracking process and addressing issues to ensure the chang is effective.

6. Evaluation:

Assessing the success of curriculum and identifying any further


improvement.
