OVERVIEW

The study was conducted for CNN by SSRS with representa8ve samples of registered voters in Georgia (n=732), and
North Carolina (n=750). SSRS is an independent research company. Surveys were obtained online and by telephone
from October 23-October 28, 2024. More informa8on about SSRS can be obtained by visi8ng www.ssrs.com.

Unless otherwise noted, results are reported below for likely voters. Results for each state have the following
margins of sampling error at the 95% confidence level and design effects:

Registered Voters Likely Voters

Error Margin Design Effect Error Margin Design Effect
Georgia +/- 4.7% pts. 1.67 +/- 4.7% pts. 1.65
North Carolina +/- 4.7% pts. 1.70 +/- 4.5% pts. 1.62

EMBARGOED FOR RELEASE:

Thursday, October 31 at 12:00 p.m.
NOTE ABOUT RESULTS

Ques8on text noted in parentheses was rotated or randomized. Values less than 0.5 percent are indicated by an
asterisk (*).

NOTE ABOUT CROSSTABS

Surveys were conducted among a representa8ve sample of registered voters in each state. Members of
demographic groups not shown in the published crosstabs are represented in the results for each ques8on in the
poll. Crosstabs on the pages that follow only include results for subgroups with a minimum n=125 unweighted
cases. Results for subgroups with fewer than n=125 unweighted cases are not displayed and instead are denoted
with "SN" because samples of that size carry larger margins of sampling error and can be too small to be
projectable with confidence to their true values in the popula8on.

MORE ON METHODOLOGY

A total of n=1,482 registered voters in Georgia and North Carolina were surveyed online and by telephone from a
registra8on-based sample purchased by SSRS from L2. The Georgia and North Carolina samples included an
oversample of voters modeled as likely African American on the voter file as well as oversamples of voters ages 18
– 34. All oversampled groups were weighted to their correct share of the registered voter population.

Sampled voters were invited to participate in the study through multiple contact methods, including a mailed
postcard, SMS (text-message) invitation in collaboration with Survey160 to sample who had a cell phone number
on file, email invitations to those with an email address on file, and multiple telephone call attempts to voters with
a telephone number on file. Upon receipt of the postcard, sampled voters could complete the survey online
(including by scanning a QR code on mobile devices) or by calling a toll-free number. All respondents were screened
for age, voter registra8on status, and state of voter registra8on prior to administering the survey. Respondents who
said they were under 18, not registered to vote, or not registered to vote in the state on file were excluded from
the survey. Those who did not confirm they were the named person on the voter file were also excluded from
analysis. Surveys were conducted in English and Spanish.

All respondents were asked ques8ons concerning basic demographics. The en8re sample was weighted to reflect
Census figures for the state's registered voters for educa8on and race/ethnicity. The sample was also weighed to
parameters from the L2 voter file for gender, age, party registra8on (North Carolina) or modeled party affilia8on
(Georgia), 2020 general elec8on turnout by mode of vo8ng, 2022 general elec8on turnout, 2024 primary turnout,
Census tract-level popula8on density, and Na8onal Elec8on Pool (NEP) region. The samples were also weighted to
parameters from the L2 voter file for the cross of race (African American, all others) by age, gender, and party.
Finally, the samples for each state were weighted among validated 2020 voters for recalled 2020 vote within NEP
regions. The benchmark for recalled 2020 vote was taken from county-level Na8onal Elec8on Pool (NEP)
presiden8al elec8on results provided by CNN.

Results for likely voters include all registered voters interviewed for the poll weighted by their predicted probability
of vo8ng in the 2024 general elec8on. This likely voter weight was created for each state by mul8plying the
registered voter weight by the modeled probability of vo8ng in the 2024 general elec8on. For voters ages 29 or
below, the probability of vo8ng was calculated as 0.25 8mes a voter file score plus 0.75 8mes a self-report score.
For voters ages 30 or older, the probability of vo8ng was calculated as 0.75 8mes a voter file score plus 0.25 8mes a
self-report score. The voter file score was assigned using a model built on the L2 voter file that included past
turnout history and demographic variables as predictors. The self-report score was assigned using a model built on
prior CNN-SSRS polls that included the self-reported likelihood of vo8ng and mo8va8on to vote as predictors.

Surveys were conducted among a representa8ve sample of the adult registered voters, age 18 or older, in Georgia
and North Carolina. Members of demographic groups not shown in the published crosstabs are represented in the
results for each ques8on in the poll. Crosstabs on the pages that follow only include results for subgroups with a
minimum n=125 unweighted cases. Results for subgroups with fewer than n=125 unweighted cases are not
displayed and instead are denoted with "SN" because samples of that size carry larger margins of sampling error
and can be too small to be projectable with confidence to their true values in the popula8on.
