PRECAUTIONS

For security reasons, and to avoid property damage, be sure to follow safety precautions when using the
multimedia system (hereinafter referred to as the "headunit" or "radio"), defined by the manufacturer or the
vehicle dealer.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Menaco customware provides interoperability between the stock software of Media‐Nav multimedia devices and
third party software developers.
Menaco provides the following main functions:
‐ Uses a few more navigation programs with a variety of cartographic bases,
‐ Connects the multimedia system to the Internet (via USB‐modem or Android‐smartphone)
‐ Smartphone screen mirroring on Media‐Nav screen,
‐ Supports interchangeable skins,
‐ Provides a multimedia player that supports different formats of audio and video data,
‐ Connects the Media‐Nav system to the diagnostic OBD adapter,
‐ Supports the ability to connect a rear view camera,
‐ Switches to firmware and back,
‐ Supports all functions of the original multimedia device.

START MENACO CUSTOMWARE

To switch on and off the car multimedia system please follow the user's manual for Media‐Nav radio.

1. Media‐Nav Main Menu

By default, Menaco started flashing buttons "Map" or "Way" in Media‐Nav Main Menu (Note: If
these buttons do not appear in the radio menu, make sure the button is "ON" in the menu Media‐Nav
Evolution / Settings / System / Navigation included).

Button causes the manual switch on of the rear view camera.

Button causes the Settings Menu.

2. Menaco Main Menu

2.1. The Menaco Main menu is displayed after clicking the "Map" or "Way":

2.2. Additional pop‐up buttons shall appear by clicking on the Media‐Nav volume keys (on the radio or on the
steering joystick):

Note:
Composition, location and image of Menaco Menu buttons may differ from the figure depending on the options
you ordered with Menaco configuration, as well as the country of supply.

2.3. The buttons correspond to the following functions (press one of them to work with the program):

‐ "Navigation program "Navitel Navigator"

‐ "Navigation program "Seven Ways" (when pressed for more than 1 second navigation software Progorod
displays)

‐ "Navigation program "Progorod" (this program displays when Seven Ways is pressed for more than 1
second)

‐ "Media Player"

‐ "Internet Browser" (when pressed for more than 1 second the Total Commander file manager displays).

‐ "The Total Commander file manager" (this program displays when Internet Browser is pressed for more
than 1 second)

‐ "Return to the Main Menu of Media‐Nav"

‐ "Manual activation of rearview camera"

‐ "Starting hobDrive diagnostic program"

‐ "Screen mirroring mode for Android smartphone"

‐ "Media‐Nav pop‐up volume indicator" (the Main Menaco Menu displays


when pressed for less than 1 second; the Menaco on‐screen keyboard displays / hides when pressed for more than
1 second)
‐ At the bottom of the Menaco menu screen it displays the name of the current radio
station or the name of the audio file being played by the regular audio player.

‐ Pop‐up button and is intended to control the Internet connection via 3G modem.

‐ Pop‐up button produces USB‐ports reset. USB Flash or the modem will be disconnected, all programs
running from a USB drive will be closed emergency!

‐ Pop‐up button calls a Menaco Settings Menu.

‐ Pop‐up button turns the currently running program and displays Menaco menu.

3. The Settings Menu

The Settings Menu looks as follows:

Button is intended to switch between Menaco mode and regular firmware mode. When you click on
the button a new screen will appear and after 25 seconds the radio restarts in the regular mode. Switch to the
Menaco mode is carried out similarly.
Button allows you to enable / disable manual show images from a rear view camera. Corresponding buttons
will be hidden in all menus in the case of a ban. This button is duplicated in the Menaco Settings Menu.
Button allows you to enable / disable the automatic display of images from a rear view camera in the
presence of a signal. This button is duplicated in the Menaco Settings Menu.

4. Menaco Settings Menu

Menaco Settings Menu looks as follows:

4.1. Button is intended for system messages menu button that looks like this:

press to save system messages in a file SystemLog.txt on USB Flash.

4.2. Button designed to invoke the video input settings menu that looks like this:

Left located settings allow to control the conditions under which the image from the video input will be
displayed:
 adjustment allows you to enable / disable the automatic display of
images from the video input when reverse gear is engaged. After switching off the reverse gear
image display will continue for about 10 seconds. If this is not desired, disable this option.
 adjustment allows you to enable / disable the automatic display of
images from the video input when a signal is present. This setting is duplicated in the Settings
Menu.
 adjustment allows you to enable / disable manual show
images from the video input. In case of a ban corresponding buttons will be hidden in all menus.
This setting is duplicated in the Settings Menu.
On right selecting the type of setting is adjustable camera: NTSC or PAL.

4.3. Button designed to display the Menu button remapping that looks as follows:

It is technically possible to remap volume keys on MediaNav Evolution, as well as the steering column
control buttons. When you press the keystroke reassign reassign keys will occur.
To reassign some of the keys, follow these steps:
 Select from a list of key reassign (Or make a push).
 press buttons to activate another list.
 Select from a list of key reassign (Or make a push).
 press Thereby adding a new remapping keys in the list.
To remove redirection keys, select it in the list and click the reassignment .

press to save the settings.

4.4. Button It is designed to bring up the menu of various settings Menaco, which is as follows:

 adjustment allows you to enable / disable the display of the


lower line in the Menaco menu when running navigation software.
 adjustment thus reducing the volume of audio messages
navigation programs during a phone call.

press to save the settings.

4.5. Button is intended to exit the Menaco Settings Menu.

Note:
Some Menaco options can be changed using the configuration file. The configuration file will be described below.

5. Settings Menu of changeable skins of Menaco

Button is intended for calling the Menaco changeable skins (screen images) Menu.
It is possible to download the skin from the previous version at folders \Storage Card\Menavrus and
\MD\Menavrus.

SWITCHING FROM MENACO TO THE MEDIA‐NAV AND BACK

If necessary you may switch from Menaco to Media‐Nav firmware, go to Settings / System, and in the upper right
corner of the screen, click on the button with «Renault» icon . You will see the idle screen after 30
seconds, the radio will restart in normal mode.
The reverse inclusion Menaco may be carried out in the same menu by pressing the button with the "globe",
located next to the button of "Renault" .

SETTING TIME AND TIME ZONE

Configuration is performed by regular radio functions in accordance with the user manual. Important: After setting
the time zone, stop the car engine and wait for 30 seconds. The subsequent inclusion of the radio will restart it
after this time, and time settings are stored correctly.

RESTART MENACO

When you operate the radio and it "hung" for some reason (for example, when you start excessively large video
file), restart the radio (turn off the radio and remove the key from the ignition for 30 seconds).

REMOVING MENACO

Install the update Media‐Nav Evolution firmware using standard ToolBox in accordance with the user’s manual.
Menaco will be completely replaced by firmware.

NAVIGATION PROGRAMS

Depending on the configuration of Menaco software package chosen by you, it can be supplied with different
navigation systems, such as "Navitel Navigator","Seven Ways","Progorod".

ACCESS TO MENACO FILE SYSTEM

Attention! Caution! The Total Commander CE file manager (button in the Menaco menu) is included in
Menaco.

The Total Commander file manager is displayed when the Internet Browser button is pressed for more than 1
second.

In no case do not perform any operations on the folder Storage Card/System, to completely withdraw the radio
down! Also, you can not format the Storage Card section!

Use the file manager with caution, do not remove or replace any files on the internal memory of the radio, if you
are not sure in their actions. This can lead to complete damage of the radio.

All methods to run programs can be configured in the file /Storage Card/menavrus/menavrus.cfg. Edit this file
carefully, without breaking the syntax.

To close the random access to the Total Commander CE file manager, rename (or delete) a file named total.exe in
folder Update/ in the USB Flash.

REAR VIEW CAMERA

1. If your vehicle is equipped with rear‐view camera, Menaco can display images from it to the screen of your
Media‐Nav Evolution. All the necessary software support for cameras Media‐Nav Evolution contained in the
firmware Menaco.
2. Menaco also enables the connection of a wireless rear view camera.
3. NTSC or PAL standards are supported to connect the camera.
4. A connecting diagram for the rear view camera can be found at https://menaco.co/rear‐view‐camera.
5. The Menaco revolutionary method used in determining the presence / absence of a signal at the analog
input video recorders! Added possibility to use a wireless camera, and other video sources. On the radio
connection is not necessary to connect the 12V from the reverse lamp. It has a function of automatically
detecting signal MCHS input. The method of working with the camera gives a 100% secure, there is not even
a theoretical possibility of violations MICOM controller configuration. Now it is possible to enable and
disable determination signal without restarting the recorder.
6. Menaco provides two modes of the rear‐view image output ‐ manual and automatic (provided the
configuration buttons for manual and automatic mode on / off the image display).
7. The Manual mode of the rear view camera is set by pressing the "camera" button in the lower right corner of
the Menaco menu.
8. The Automatic mode of the rear view camera (if connected camera) occurs automatically when reverse gear.
9. The camera image arrives before the firmware is fully downloaded.
10. Ability to display the camera in full screen. It is necessary to additionally install

11. Ability to mirror the camera image (Menaco Settings ‐> RVC).

MULTIMEDIA PLAYER CORE PLAYER

1. Open the video player by clicking "Media Player" in the Menaco menu. At the video player enter the path to
the video files or music, which are pre‐placed on a flash drive. To do this, use the lower horizontal panel
video player menu. A flash drive is shown as a drive of \MD.
2. A full 12‐band equalizer is built in the video player.
3. The video player carries a 4‐channel sound (if the car is equipped with 4 speakers).

4. In a playback mode of the video player, a sound of the regular player is paused, but a sound of the build‐in
radio is turned off.
5. The video player saves the current playlist automatically, you do not need to consistently get out of the
player.
6. The video player saves the last track.
7. It is possible to automatically display the Menaco, RADIO or MEDIA menus at startup (Menaco Settings ‐>
MISC).

The resolution of the viewed video files must be no higher than 800x480.
If the source video file does not meet to the above parameters, please use converters.

If you are viewing the video and for some reasons radio "hung" (for example, when you run over a large file), restart
the radio (remove the key from the ignition for 30 seconds and the radio will automatically reboot).

How to install the language in the Core Player

The Core Player has the ability to set any language desired.
1. Click the icon in the video player Menaco menu (open video player).

2. Click the small triangle in the upper left part of the screen video player (Menu opens the video player).
The following sections appear in the pop‐up menu: File (File) View (View) Play (Listen) Tools (Service)? (About
the program)

3. Click Tools (Tools) menu in the video player. A drop‐down list, select Settings (Options).

4. Press the bottom left button Select Page (Page). A drop‐down list, select the Language (Language) ‐ the
second picture.

5. Click on the arrow to the left / right and select the desired language (you can choose from the drop down
list of languages ‐ second picture).

6. Press the OK button (to confirm your selection of the desired language).

7. Get out of the player (restart the video player).

EQUALIZER

Fans of quality music to listen to music files is recommended to use a 12‐band equalizer, which is embedded in the
video player.
Using the equalizer you can change sound timbres (sound hues) by your wishes to obtain a higher‐quality sound.
In the equalizer you can choose 1 of 10 preset sound configuration options or adjust the equalizer manually
according to personal preferences.
Turning On The Equalizer

1. Open the video player from the Menaco menu.


2. Display the video player menu by clicking the small triangle in the upper left part of the video player screen.
A video player menu opens with these 5 sections:
File View Play Tools ?

3. Select Tools / Equalizer (Service / EQ), and turn on the equalizer, putting a "bird" in the Enabled (Enabled).

Equalizer Settings

1. Sound mode presets.


Select the desired range of sound tones from a predefined list:
 Bass Boost
 Classical
 Dance
 Live
 Pop
 Rock
 Soft
 Techno
 Trebble Boost

2. Manual Audio Control mode (Customs).


In the graphic equalizer mode, the user has the ability to independently adjust the frequency equalizer 12 bands in
its sole discretion. Setting the equalizer sliders to the required level, you can create your own sound configuration.
3. Please note that the edited EQ settings are not automatically saved. Save your settings to a file by clicking Save
Profile (Save Settings). Such stored settings (files) can be somewhat, then it is convenient to choose as needed.
4. Press the Reset button (Reset) to return the equalizer settings to the initial state.

5. Click the Delete Profile button (delete settings file) and select the settings file you want to remove, if necessary.

CONNECTING TO THE GLOBAL INTERNET

When you press the volume button (on the radio panel) further float internet‐connection control buttons

Internet connection, the keys will function properly only after the connection and settings of the modem! Modem
configuration is described in detail in the corresponding Instructions for configuring the USB‐modem.

Button resets the USB‐ports! USB Flash, or the modem will be unmounted, all programs running from a USB
drive, will be closed emergency! Similarly, a modem or distortion of the stick.

At the bottom of the screen displays the current station Menaco or title of the current song tenured player, and

Internet connection indicator . With an active Internet connection, this indicator is green When you try to

connection can be found by clicking the gear wheel That pops up on the left of the main screen Menaco by
clicking on the radio volume control buttons. You can also save a log‐file analysis for errors and send to support.
When you press the volume buttons are also displayed the reset button in the main menu Media‐Nav (Lower

left corner) and return to the menu Menaco (Upper left corner). (These buttons are especially handy if you
have disabled the display of the bottom status bar Menaco in the configuration file).

Setting up for the Internet USB‐periphery

Setting of USB‐modems and mobile phones

The Menaco have the opportunity to access the Internet via modems and mobile phones based on Android:
1. Modems in HILINK mode.
If you buy a new modem to a cellular network, it will work in HILINK mode by default. To work with the
modem in Menaco 4.1.0.1 added RNDIS drivers and MODSWITCH. When connected to a Media‐Nav
modem is required to transfer to the desired song that carried driver MODSWITCH. At the moment,
Menaco supports only work with modems HUAWEI. Working with other modems greatly complicated by
the need to write the config MODSWITCH driver.
To access the Internet through a modem HUAWEI HILINK mode, perform the following steps:
1.1. Insert the SIM card and make sure that your modem connects to the Internet from a computer
running Windows after installing all the drivers.
1.2. Plug the modem into the Media‐Nav and exit in Menaco menu.
1.3. In case of successful adjustment indicator internet podklyuchneniya in the bottom row should light up

green .
1.4. At the moment, Menaco is unable to access the SD / MMC card inside HILINK modem. This is due to
RNDIS driver.

If you want to use your modem with the Media‐Nav without connecting a USB flash drive to a USB
hub, you will need to copy the contents of a USB flash drive into the Media‐Nav. To do this, start the
Total Commander, and then copy the contents of a USB flash drive to the section \ Storage Card4.

2. Modems in STICK mode.


Translation modem in STICK mode usually requires rewriting.
Setting such modems is described in a manual configuration STICK.pdf modem mode.

3. Mobile phones based on Android.


From a technical point of view, the mobile phone does not differ from modem HILINK mode because It
uses the same RNDIS driver. Moreover, the use MODSWITCH driver usually is not required.
To access the Internet via a mobile phone based on Android take the following steps:
3.1. Make sure that your mobile phone has internet access via the mobile network or Wi‐Fi.
3.2. Connect your mobile phone to Media‐Nav USB cable.
3.3. In the mobile phone settings, scroll to "USB‐modem", also known as "Tethering" and activate it.
3.4. If successful, configure the Internet connection indicator in the bottom menu bar Menaco should light

up green .
3.5. If you want to use your mobile phone with Media‐Nav without connecting USB‐stick through the USB‐
hub, you need to copy the contents of the USB‐stick into the Media‐Nav. To do this, start the Total
Commander, and then copy the contents of the USB‐stick in the section \ Storage Card4.

SCREEN MIRRORING OF MOBILE ANDROID SMARTPHONES

Menaco has the ability to mirror screens of mobile phones based on Android. Audio is transmitted via
Bluetooth.
To use the Mirror function, the free program ScreenStream over HTTP:

1. Connect your mobile phone to Media‐Nav via Bluetooth.


2. Connect your mobile phone to Media‐Nav USB cable (via USB‐hub, because the need is okay as USB‐
stick with cards and file manager).
Note: If you want to connect your mobile phone to Media‐Nav without USB‐hub (ie without the USB‐stick),
you need to copy the contents of the USB‐stick into the Media‐Nav. To do this, start the Total Commander,
and then copy the contents of the USB‐stick in the section \Storage Card4.
3. Find and activate the «USB‐modem» mode, also known as «Tethering", in the mobile phone settings.
4. After a successful setup, an Internet connection button at the bottom of the Menaco menu should

turn green .
5. Install the free application Screen Stream over HTTP from Play Market on your phone.

Important: The ScreenStream over HTTP application must be installed in the internal memory of the
mobile phone. In some smartphones, the ScreenStream over HTTP application is installed by default in the
additional microSD memory of the smartphone. In this case, you need to transfer the application to the
internal memory of the mobile phone.

5.1. Launch this application. The main menu of the application looks something like this:

5.5. Put the phone in portrait mode, rotating it.


5.6. Click "Start broadcast" in Annex Screen Stream over HTTP

5.7. Press in the Menaco menu to start the mirroring application.


5.8. During the mirroring will be transmission of sound from your phone via Bluetooth.
5.9. Close mirroring application and go to the Menaco menu by clicking in the upper right corner.

SETTING USB SERIAL DEVICE TYPE ELM327 (OBD‐adapter)

Note: This section is only for users who have ordered the most complete set of Menaco.

Important:
‐ OBD‐adapter must support USB Serial profile.
‐ does not guarantee functioning absolutely any adapters!

1. In Menaco embedded configuration files for OBD‐adapters on chips CH341 (idVendor = 0x1A86; idProduct =
0x7523) and PL2302 (idVendor = 0x067B; idProduct = 0x2303). The work of these adapters is possible without
any additional configuration, so you can go directly to step 4. Otherwise, you must first create a config USB
device.
2. Create config USB device should be carried out in accordance with section "2. . Creating MODEM.CFG USB
device configuration file for your modem "in the manual configuration to STICK.pdf mode, but the
configuration file itself should have a few other options in the section« [USB2COM.COMPORT] »:

3. Suppose you have decided to name the new OBDII.CFG configuration file. Create a configuration file must be
copied into the MCHS.
3.1. OBDII.CFG copy the file to the USB root of the stick.
3.2. Insert the USB flash drive to MCHS, turn it on, go to the menu Menaco.
3.3. Start Total Commander.
3.4. With the help of Total Commander, copy the file from the root OBDII.CFG USB flash drive \ MD \ folder in \
Storage Card \ Menavrus \ USBCONFIG at MCHS.
4. To work OBD‐adapter is now required only to run HOBD and put the correct port and the car profile.

DESCRIPTION OF CONFIGURATION FILE MENAVRUS.CFG

Important:
‐ The configuration file is located in the memory of the radio on the way \Storage card\menavrus\ menavrus.cfg.
‐ If your USB‐Flash in menavrus folder at startup radio will be located menavrus.cfg, it will be used.
‐ If you edit the configuration file, note that its contents are case sensitive!
‐ In order not to edit this file manually, you can use the graphic configurator on the radio device by pressing the

hardware button + or ‐ , than the pop‐up button on the Menaco Menu, then the button.

In version 4.1.0.1 the configuration file has the following structure:
