INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) celebrated International Women's Day on March 9, 2024,
organized by the Department of CSE in association with the Notre Dame University Computer Club
(NDUBCC) and presented by Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT). The event was marked by the
presence of distinguished individuals, including honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Fr. Patrick Daniel
Gaffney, CSC, Treasurer and Associate Professor Dr. Fr. Subash Adam Pereira, CSC, Director of English
Language Center Fr. Tom McDermott, CSC, Deputy Registrar Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC,
Deputy Exam Controller Fr. Badhon Hilarious Rozario, CSC, Asst. Director of Student Affairs Sr.
Shagorica Maria Gomes, CSC, Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Aloke Kumar Chakraborty, Chairman of the
Department of CSE Prof. Dr. Shaheena Sultana, Club Moderator Prof. A.H.M Saiful Islam, Associate
Prof. Dr. Fernaz Narin Nur, Co-Moderator Lecturer Humayara Binte Rashid and faculty members

The festival commenced with the exhilarating Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT) presents “Luna
Shamsuddoha Intra University Programming Contest – 2024” and the “Quiz Competition”. This initiative
reflects the university's dedication to promoting inclusivity and recognizing the contributions of women in
various fields, including programming, where female participation is actively encouraged and celebrated.
The programming contest and quiz competition attracted a vast number of students, all eager to
demonstrate their coding skills and problem-solving abilities.
Moments Captured at the Programming Contest
The Luna Shamsuddoha Programming Contest started at 8:00 am, with 19 teams participating. The
winning team was “Int3” consisting of Shah Md. Rafiul Kadir, Sukla Topoti Saha Prome and Sumaiya
Islam Sonali. The runners-up were “Doa_Roilo” with members Rejuana Azad, Evangelist Richard Gomes
and Md. Hemal Ahmed.
The quiz competition was only open to CSE-23 participants. The winners of the Quiz Competition were
as follows: Apurbo Francis Costa secured first place, Md. Irfan Jafor came in second place and Mishal
Cornelious Palma achieved third place.
The main program started at 10:00 am with speeches given by Associate Prof. Dr. Fernaz Narin Nur and
special guests. Following that, a thought-provoking panel discussion took place, featuring accomplished
women from various sectors. The moderator for the panel discussion was Prof. Dr. Shaheena Sultana,
Chairman of the Department of CSE. A roundtable meeting on the theme 'Invest in Women: Accelerate
Progress' fostered insightful discussions among esteemed participants.
Esteemed guests comprised Barrister Nazmus Salehin, a renowned Advocate in Bangladesh Supreme
Court; Dr. Selina Sharmin, a distinguished Associate Professor in the field of CSE at Jagannath
University; Ms. Fatema Jahan, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh; Naznin Munni,
Assignment Editor at DBC News and Md Abul Kalam Azad, Head of Sales of Linde Industries
Private Limited. The day kicked off with an interactive session led by the guest speakers, where they
shared insights into their respective journeys and the challenges, they overcame to achieve success. The
event aimed to inspire and empower female students to pursue careers in STEM fields and break
traditional gender stereotypes. The guests were presented with a token of honor. Additionally, winners of
the “Luna Shamsuddoha Programming Contest” and “Quiz Competition” were awarded crests and prize
money as recognition for their achievements.

Then the 8th anniversary of Bangladesh Notre Dame University Computer Club was celebrated with a

The highlight of the Women's Day celebration featured a cultural program organized by the students of
the Computer Science and Engineering department. The event showcased the diverse talents of students
through captivating acts and dance routines that specifically celebrated and portrayed the essence of
womanhood but also served as a testament, underscoring the university's commitment to fostering
creativity and providing a platform for self-expression.
The seminar was enlightened by Prof. A.H.M. Saiful Islam's speech, during which he shared his valuable
advice, marking the conclusion of the event. The success of the Women's Day celebration at Notre Dame
University Bangladesh highlighted the institution's dedication to creating an inclusive environment that
empowers women to thrive in their chosen fields. These events serve as a testament to NDUB's ongoing
mission to support and inspire students, fostering an atmosphere where every individual can reach their
full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
