***INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING GRAPHICS***
1. Construct a parabola, with the distance of the focus from the
Directrix as50,also draw a normal and tangent to the curve at a [L2][CO1][14M]
point 40 from the directrix.
2. Construct an ellipse, with the distance of the focus from the
directrix as50mm and eccentricity is 2/3. Also draw a normal and L2][CO1][14M]
tangent to the curve at a point 40 from the directrix
3. Construct an hyperbola, with the distance of the focus from the
directrix as 50mm and eccentricity is 3/2.Also draw a normal and [L2][CO1][14M]

4. A circle of 40mm diameter rolls along a line for one revolution
clockwise. Draw a locus of a point on the circle, with the line. [L2][CO1][14M]

6. Draw an Epi-Cycloid of rolling circle 40 mm diameter (2r) which [L2][CO1][14M]
rolls outside of another circle (Base circle) of 150mm diameter (2R)
for one complete revolution. Draw a Tangent and Normal at any
point
on the curve.
7. Draw a hypo-cycloid of a circle for 40mm diameter, which rolls [L2][CO1][14M]
inside of another circle of 200 mm diameter for one complete
revolution in counter clock-wise. Draw a tangent and normal at any
point on the curve.
8. A wire is unwound from a drum of 40 mm diameter. Draw the locus [L2][CO1][14M]
of the free end of the wire for unwinding through an angle of 360 0.
Draw also a Normal and Tangent at any point on the curve.
9. Draw an involute of a hexagon of 25 mm side for one convolution. [L2][CO1][14M]
Draw tangent and normal to the curve at a distance 100 mm from
the
centre of the hexagon.
10 Construct a diagonal scale of RF= 1:32,00,000 to show kilometers [L2][CO1][14M]
and long enough to measure up to 400 km. Show the distance of
257 km and 333 km on your scale.
11 Construct a plain scale of RF=1/8 to show decimeters and centimeters [L2][CO1][14M]
and read up to 1m. show a length of 7.6dm on it.
12 Construct a vernier scale to read meters, decimeters and centimeters [L2][CO1][14M]
and long enough to measure up to 4 meter. RF of the scale is 1/20.
Mark on your scale a distance of 2.28 meters. ( Backward/ Retrograde

***PROJECTIONS OF POINTS, LINES AND PLANES***
1. Draw the projections of the following points on the same ground line, [L2][CO2][14M]
keeping the projectors 25 mm apart.
a. 40 mm above the HP and 20 mm behind the VP.
b. 40 mm above the HP and 25 mm in front of the VP.
c. on the VP and 40 mm above the HP.
d. 25 mm below the HP and 25 mm behind the VP.
e. 15 mm above the HP and 50 mm behind the VP.
f. 40 mm below the HP and 25 mm in front of the VP.
g. on both the HP and the VP.
2. A Point ‘P’ is 35 mm above the HP and 50 mm in front of the VP. [L2][CO2][14M]
Another point Q is 25 mm behind the VP and 40 mm below the HP.
Draw the projections of P and Q keeping the distance between their
projections equal to 90 mm. Draw straight lines joining (i) their top
views and ii) their front views.
3. a). A line AB 70mm long is inclined 40 0 HP and parallel to 30 mm in [L2][CO2][14M]
front of VP. The end A is 15 mm above the HP and 20 mm in front
of VP, Draw the projections of straight line .
b). A line PQ 70mm long is parallel to 40 mm above HP and
inclined to VP. The end P is 20 mm, end Q is 50 mm in front of VP
respectively. Draw the projection of the line. Determine the
inclination with the VP.
4. A line AB of 70 mm long, is inclined 300 to HP and 450 to VP. The [L2][CO2][14M]
end A is 20 mm above the HP 10 mm in front of VP. Draw the
projections of the straight line.
5. A line PQ, 80 mm long has its end P, 10 mm above the HP and 15 [L2][CO2][14M]
mm in front of the VP. The other end Q is 65 mm above the HP and
50 mm in front of the VP. Draw the projections of the line and find
its
true inclinations with the HP and the VP
6. A line EF, 85 mm long has its end E, 25 mm above the HP and 20 [L2][CO2][14M]
mm in front of the VP. The top and front views of the line have
lengths of 55 mm and 70 mm respectively. Draw the projections of
the line and find its true inclinations with the HP and the VP.
7. The midpoint of a straight line AB is 60mm above HP and 50mm in [L2][CO2][14M]
front of V.P. The line measures 80mm long and inclined at an angle
of 300 to H.P and 450 to V.P. Draw its projections
8. A rectangular plane of 60mm*40mm is resting on shorter edge on [L2][CO2][14M]
the ground and inclined 450 to V.P. The plane surface is inclined
at 300toH.P. Draw its projections.
9. Draw its projection of circular of 70mm diameter rests on the HP [L2][CO3][14M]
on a point A of its circumference. The plane is inclined to 35
degree to HP.The top view of the diameter through the point A is
making an angle of 45 degree with VP. Draw its projections.
10 Pentagon of side 30mm rests on the ground on one of its corners with [L2][CO2][14M]
the side containing the corner being equally inclined to ground. The
side opposite to the corner on which it rests is inclined at 30 deg to
VP and parallel to HP. The surface of the pentagon makes 50 deg
with ground. Draw the top view and front view.
11 A hexagonal plate of side 20mm is rests on VP on one of its sides [L2][CO2][14M]
inclined at 45deg to the HP. The surface of the plate makes an
angle 30deg to the VP. Draw the final top and front view.
12 a) A regular hexagonal plane of 30 mm side has a corner at 20 mm [L2][CO2][14M]
away from V.P and 50 mm from H.P. Its surface is inclined at
45degree to V.P and perpendicular to H.P. Draw the projections
of the plane.
b) A regular hexagon of 25 side has its one edge on H.P. The surface
of the plane is perpendicular to V.P and inclined at 40 degree to
H.P.
Draw the projections of the plane.

1. (a).A hexagonal Prism, side of base 25mm and axis 50mm long [L3][CO3][14M]
rests with one of its base edge makes an angle of 600 to VP and
axis perpendicularto HP. Draw its projections.
(b). A cone of 30 mm diameter and 70 mm height rests on the
ground on apex with its axis parallel to VP and Perpendicular to
HP. Draw the projections.
2. A pentagonal prism with side of base 30mm and axis 60mm long is [L3][CO3][14M]
resting with an edge of its base on HP, such that the rectangular face
containing that edge is inclined at 600 to HP. Draw the projections of
the prism when its axis is parallel to VP.
3. A cylinder of diameter 30 mm and axis length 50 mm is resting on the [L3][CO3][14M]
HP on a point so that its axis is inclined at 45degree to the HP and
parallel to the VP. Draw its top and front views.
4. Draw the projections of a pentagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and [L2][CO3][14M]
altitude 60 mm when it rests on the ground on one of its base edges
with the axis inclined at 30˚ to the ground and parallel to the VP.
5. Draw the projections of a cube of side 40 mm when it rests on one its [L3][CO3][14M]
corners with the solid diagonal parallel to both HP &VP.
6. A pentagonal pyramid, side of base 25 mm and axis 50 mm long rests [L3][CO3][14M]
with one of its corners on the HP such that the axis is inclined at an
angle 30 degree to HP and one side of the base is perpendicular to
VP.
Draw its projections.
7. Pentagonal Prism base 30mm side and axis60mmlong has an edge of [L3][CO3][14M]
base in HP, axis inclined at 450 to ground and parallel to VP.
8. A square prism of base side 35 mm and axis length 60 mm lies on [L3][CO3][14M]
the HP on one of its longer edges with its faces equally inclined to
the HP. Draw its projections when its axis is inclined at 30˚ to the
VP.
9. Draw the projections of pentagonal prism of base edge 25mm and axis [L3][CO5][14M]
height 50 mm is resting on one of its rectangular faces on the HP.
The axis of the solid is inclined at 45˚ to the VP.
10 A Hexagonal Pyramid of side of base 30 mm and axis 60 mm long [L3][CO3][14M]
is resting on one of its base edge on V.P. Draw the projections of the

on base edge on HP such that triangular face on Hp and the axis
makes an angle of 45 degree with the VP. Draw its projections.

***SECTIONS OF SOLIDS AND DEVELOPEMENTS***
1. a) A right circular cone of 50mm base diameter and of altitude
60mm is lying on base on HP, such that the axis of the cone is
parallel to VP. It is cut by a section plane parallel to HP and [L3][CO5][7M]
perpendicular to VP and 30mm above HP. Draw the sectional
plan and elevation of the solid.
b) A cylinder of base diameter 50mm and axis 70mm long resting
[L3][CO5][7M]
on HP with its base, such that the axis of the cone is parallel to
VP. It is cut by a section plane parallel to HP and perpendicular
to VP and 40mm above HP. Draw the sectional plan and
elevation of the solid.
2. a) A cylinder of base diameter 60mm and axis 75mm long resting [L3][CO5][7M]
on VP with its base, such that the axis of the cone is parallel to
HP. It is cut by a section plane parallel to VP and perpendicular
to HP and 10mm infront of VP. Draw the top view and sectional
front view
b) A cone of base diameter 50mm and axis length 60mm is resting
on HP on its base. It is cut by a section plane is perpendicular to [L3][CO5][7M]

3. A hexagonal pyramid side of the base 30mm and altitude 70mm [L3][CO5][14M]
rests with its base on HP and with a side parallel to VP. It is cut by a
cutting plane inclined at 350 to HP and perpendicular to VP and is
bisecting the axis. Draw the sectional plan of the pyramid and true
shape of the section.
4. A cube of 65mm long edges has its vertical faces equally inclined to [L3][CO5][14M]
the VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the VP. So that
true shape of the section is regular hexagon. Determine the
inclination of the cutting plane with the HP and draw the sectional
top view and true shape of the section.
5. A cylinder of base diameter 40mm and axis length 60mm is resting [L3][CO5][14M]
on HP one of its generators with its axis parallel to HP. It is cut by a
plane inclined at 400 to VP and perpendicular to HP and is bisecting
the axis of the cylinder. Draw its top view, sectional front view and
true shape of the section.
6. A hexagonal prism of side 50mm is resting on HP on one of its base [L3][CO5][14M]
with two vertical faces being parallel to VP. It is cut by a cutting
plane inclined at 450 to VP and is 8mm away from the axis. Draw its
top view, sectional front view and true shape of the section.
7. Draw the projections of a cylinder of base 40mm diameter, axis [L3][CO5][14M]
50mm long resting on ground on its base. Also draw the

that edge makes an angle of 300 to VP. And axis is parallel to VP.
Draw its projections. Also draw the development of the lateral
surface of the solid.
10 A pentagonal pyramid, side of base 30 mm and height 60 mm, stands [L3][CO5][14M]
with its base on HP and an edge of the base is parallel to VP and
nearer to it. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP, inclined at 40° to
HP and passing through a point on the axis, 32 mm above the base.
Draw the sectional top view. Develop the lateral surfaces of the
truncated pyramid.
11 A hexagonal prism, having base with a 30 mm side and a 70 mm axis, [L3][CO5][14M]
is resting on its base on the ground with a side of base inclined at 45°
to the V.P. It is cut by an auxiliary inclined plane making an angle of
45° with the H.P. and passing through a point 15 mm below the top
end of the axis. Obtain the development of the lateral surface of the
truncated prism.
12 A cylinder of base diameter 50mm and axis 70mm is resting on [L3][CO5][14M]
ground with its axis vertical. It is cut by a sectional plane
perpendicular to VP, inclined at 45 0 to the HP, passing through the top
of a generator and cuts all other generators. . Draw the development of
its lateral surface.
