SELECTION CRITERIA
Pan Am Age Group Championships 2024
1. Final selection must be ratified by the ASAJ Council
2. Swimmers must be a Jamaican Citizen and comply with all World Aquatics eligibility rules listed
under Section 3 of the World Aquatics Competition Regulations.
3. Swimmer must be registered with the ASAJ a minimum of three weeks prior to the start of the
final local qualifying meet.
4. Qualification Period
a) Times swum from September 1, 2023 – June 23, 2024 will be considered.
5. Qualifying Times
a) Qualifying times will be as follows for the respective age groups (ages are as of December
31, 2024):
• In the 12-14 year old age group: Swimmers must achieve a minimum of 500 AQUA
Points in at least one (1) event
• In the 15-18 year old age group: Swimmers must achieve a minimum of 645 AQUA
Points in at least one (1) event
• In the 19-21 year old age group: Swimmers must achieve a minimum of 670 AQUA
Points in at least one (1) event
b) Times must have been swum in a long course meet sanctioned by the ASAJ or other AQUA
recognized federations.
c) The swimmer must be ranked in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the event in which the qualifying time
is achieved.
6. Relay Criteria
In the event that that three (3) swimmers have automatically qualified in an age-group, a
fourth swimmer (meeting the minimum AQUA points for their age group) will be selected to
be part of a relay team whose combined times as determined by Hy-Tek would match or
better the median 8th place time for the event of the past three editions of the Pan Am Age
Group Championships/UANA Cup. In the event that a relay event was not swam at a
previous edition of the Pan Am Age Group Championships/UANA Cup, the median 8th place
time for the event of the past three editions of the CCCAN Swimming Championships will be
used.
• The 12-14 year old age group will utilize the 11-12 Relay Time Standards
• The 15-18 year old age group will utilize the 15-17 Relay Time Standards
• The 19-21 year old age group will utilize the 18&Over Relay Time Standards
