Q1. Fill in the blanks with the correct option.
i. A raster graphics or bitmap image is a dot matrix data structure that represents a generally
rectangular grid of pixels (points of colour).
ii. PPI (Pixels Per Inch) and DPI (Dots Per Inch) are the standard units for measuring image size.
iii. Recommended resolution for printed images is 150-300 dpi, for web images it 72 dpi.
iv. Resolution is the number of pixels on a printed area of an image.
v. In the Swatches palette you can choose a foreground or background colour and add a
customized color to the library.
vi. The Free transform command lets you apply transformations (rotate, scale, skew, distort
and perspective)
vii. The Hue/Saturation command adjusts the Hue (colour), Saturation (purity) and lightness of
the entire image.
viii. The Gradient tool creates a gradual transition between multiple colours.
ix. The Healing brush tool lets you correct imperfections, causing them to disappear into the
surrounding image.
x. Gradient Overlay fills the layer’s content with gradient.
xi. Inner Glow adds glow that emanate from the inside edges of the layer’s content.
xii. Layers let you organize your work into distinct levels that can be edited and viewed as
individual units.
xiii. Layer blending mode defines how the layer’s pixels blend with underlying pixels in the
image.
xiv. Layer Mask allows you to hide certain parts of the layer, which can then be revealed by
using the paintbrush and the white paint colour to expose portions of the layer.
xv. Layer Visibility (the eye icon) shows that the selected layer is visible.

xvi. Linear Gradient shades from the starting point to the ending point in a straight line.
xvii. Mirror Gradient mirrors the same linear gradient on either side of the starting point.
xviii. Outer Glow Adds glows that emanate (spreads) from the outside edges of the layer’s
content.
xix. Radial Gradient: Shades from the starting point to the ending point in a circular pattern.
xx. Inner Glow adds glows that emanate (spreads) from the outside edges of the layer’s
content.
xxi. Pattern Overlay: fills the layer’s content with pattern.
xxii. Radial Gradient: shades from the starting point to the ending point in a circular pattern.
xxiii. Style Palette: allows you to view, select and apply pre-set layer styles.
iii. The ____________ paints one part of an image over another part of the same image or
over another part of any open document that has the same colour mode.
(a) Clone Stamp Tool (b) Bevel and Emboss (c) Angular Gradient
vi. ____________ shades from the middle to the outer corners of a diamond pattern
(a)Colour palette (b) Colour overlay (c) Diamond gradient
vii. _____________ adds a shadow that falls behind the contents on the layer.
(a) Free transform (b) Filter gallery (c) Drop Shadow

viii. _____________ is a preview of many of the special effects and filters.
(a) Free transform (b) Filter gallery (c) Drop Shadow
ix. _____________ Lets you apply transformations (rotate, scale, skew, distort and perspective) in
one continuous operation.
(a) Free transform (b) Filter gallery (c) Drop Shadow

SA MPLE QUESTI ONS
Q1.(a) Why is it important to save images for web and print media in graphic design? [2]
While saving pictures for the web we have to be careful about the size of the file. As on the
web, we are always keen to keep the file size small. The smaller the picture size, the faster the
website’s loading time.
Q1.(b) How is the Perspective Crop tool used ? In what scenarios is it befeficial? [1]
Pictures of an object taken from sides/angle, are cropped and the perspective is automatically changed
to the “front view”. This is done by using the PERSPECTIVE CROP TOOL.
How to use: Select the Perspective Crop tool from the Tools.
In what Secenarios is it used? Fashion Design, Advertising of Products, Nature Photography etc.
Q2.(b) How are Pixel Per Inch and Dots Per Inch used for measuring image size and quality? [2]
Picture Resolution: Image Density is called the picture resolution. The Higher the resolution,
the higher the quality and the bigger the file size.
PPI: Pixels Per Inch : Digital image resolution (screen display) Eg 1024 x 768 etc.

DPI: Dots Per Inch: Printing resolution (physical output) eg. , material, cloth etc. 72 dpi for the
web image and 150 to 300 dpi for the image printed on paper or other materials.
