OBSERVATION REPORT BY MISS AGIDI SANDRA ON SUPPORTED TEACHING IN SCHOOLS AT DURING

SECOND SEMESTER BREAK

WEEK ONE

DAY ONE :23/10/2023

FAMILIARIZATION WITH SCHOOL

On 23rd October, 2023 was the day I went for my STS observation at Old Ningo Presby Basic ‘B’ school. I
arrived at the school premises at exactly 8:00am, when I got there they were already in class which
lesson has started. I was directed to the head master’s office, we exchanged greetings and I submitted
my letter. After reading through, he assigned me to the mathematics teacher. My mentor was already in
class so I joined him in the JHS1 class and he introduced me to the learners. He was teaching on the topic
REAL LIFE PROBLEM, after the lesson he assessed the learners by giving them exercise it was time for
break so they went for 30minutes break around 9: 30am. The school was formerly called Old Ningo
Presbyterian Primary, which was established in the year 1946. On 13th September, 2005 the school was
split into two and renamed Presby Basic ‘A’ and ‘B’ respectively. The ‘A’ stream was headed by Mrs
Comfort Hormeku and ‘B’ stream was under Mr. Emmanuel Nartey. I noticed they have KG, LOWER,
UPPER and JHS block. The head master’s office and the staff room was located between upper primary
and the JHS block. The library was beside the JHS3 class and few distance from the washroom was the
football park location and the compassion block. The canteen was located at the back of the upper
primary. The school does not have a mono desk but rather have a dual desk which accommodates two
learners. The sitting arrangement was one boy and one girl. There were 16 teachers in the school, 10
female teachers and 5 male teachers including the head master. One of the school routine I have
observed was that every learner must put on black shoe with white socks if you do other wise it will be
seized. I was given the school time table which time was allocated for morning classes from 6:30am to 7:
50am so learners come to school early and tidy up the compound by 6:25am leaners are in class and
ready for the morning class to begin. My lead mentor introduced me to the staff the following day. After
closing, I went to the headmaster and bid for permission and I took my leave.
