Electrocardiograph (ECG) Block Diagram Component Definitions

Sensing Electrodes: These electrodes are strategically placed on the patient's body to
precisely detect the electrical signals produced by cardiac activity. These signals represent
voltage changes in the heart during each beat cycle.

These electrodes are placed on the patient's body to detect the electrical signals generated
by the heart, reflecting changes in the heart's voltage during beats.

Lead-Fail Detection: This essential circuit continuously monitors electrode connectivity to

ensure proper attachment to the patient’s body. Any detected disconnection triggers an
immediate notification, enhancing monitoring accuracy.

This circuit checks if the electrodes are properly connected to the patient’s body. If there is
a problem with the connection of any electrode, this system sends a notification.

Baseline Restoration: This advanced circuit stabilizes ECG signals by eliminating baseline
drift caused by patient movement or low-frequency interference, thus improving signal
fidelity and accuracy.

This circuit adjusts the ECG signals to remove any baseline drift that may be caused by
patient movement or low-frequency noise, making the signal more stable and accurate.

Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC): The ADC component is responsible for converting the
analog ECG signals into digital data, which allows for efficient processing and storage within
the device's digital systems.

It converts the analog signal captured by the device into a digital format so it can be
processed and stored by digital systems.

Isolated Power Supply: This power supply is designed to ensure electrical isolation between
the ECG device and the main power source, guaranteeing patient safety during operation.

It provides power to the isolated circuits within the device, ensuring patient safety by
maintaining electrical isolation between the device and the main power supply.

Operator Display: This screen provides real-time visualization of ECG waveforms and
critical patient information, aiding the operator in accurate patient monitoring.

This screen displays the real-time ECG waveforms and other critical information regarding
the patient's condition to the operator.

Keyboard Interface: The keyboard allows the operator to control device settings, select
specific channels, input patient data, and make adjustments as needed for optimal device
performance.

This is the interface used by the operator to control the device, such as selecting channels,
inputting information, and making necessary adjustments.
Control Program: This microcontroller-based program manages data acquisition, signal
processing, storage, and display, streamlining the device's operational workflow.

This program runs on the microcontroller and manages the process of data acquisition,
organizing signal processing, storage, and display.

ECG Analysis Program: This program analyzes collected ECG data by performing waveform
analysis, peak detection, and calculating intervals between heartbeats to provide
comprehensive assessments of cardiac function.

This program analyzes the data collected by the device, such as waveform analysis, peak
detection, and calculation of intervals between heartbeats to assess heart condition.
