Statement of Purpose for UNT Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Program

From Classroom Curiosity to AI-Powered Learning: A Passion for Transforming Education:

My fascination with the human mind, ignited by the science fiction of Isaac Asimov, blossomed into a
pursuit of tangible impact during my undergraduate studies in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer
Science. This journey, with an impressive 8.0 GPA, saw me delving into realms of Linear Algebra,
Calculus, Probability, and Data Structures, each piece meticulously laying the foundation for my current
ambition – to revolutionize education through the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence.

My academic internships offered invaluable stepping stones. At the University of Hyderabad, I explored
the fundamentals of AI, while honing my Linux and data structures skills. This academic grounding
propelled me into the industry, where my final semester internship at a start-up thrust me into the
dynamic world of Natural Language Processing. Here, I learned to extract and categorize text,
empowering our system to distill resumes into their key components. This practical experience
cemented my desire to leverage AI for a greater good – enriching the learning landscape.

Today, as a full-time Software Developer, I'm immersed in the cutting edge of Deep Learning. My
current project tackles the intricate challenge of optimizing container packing by recognizing box
dimensions from images. Witnessing the power of AI to solve complex real-world problems further
fuels my conviction to apply it to the realm of education, a space ripe for disruption and positive
change.

This brings me to UNT's MS in AI program, its interdisciplinary approach resonating deeply with my
vision. The program's emphasis on Machine Learning, particularly within the HiLT Lab, perfectly aligns
with my passion for "Classroom Response Technology." Dr. Nielsen's "Comprehension SEEDING"
project, using NLP to assess student understanding in real-time, speaks directly to my heart.
Witnessing this research unfold with over 1700 users weekly affirms my belief in its potential to
revolutionize pedagogy.

My short-term goal is to hone my skills and knowledge within this dynamic program, ultimately joining
a leading AI Edu-tech or AI-Cogni company. Yet, the call to contribute to my own country's educational
landscape echoes louder. My long-term dream is to establish a start-up in India, bringing the magic of
AI-powered learning to underprivileged schools in rural areas. A state-level selection at the Idea
Hackathon conducted by the Indian government for a similar project further validates my vision and
underscores the urgent need for such intervention.

My path, paved with academic excellence, relevant internships, and an unwavering passion for
education-empowering AI, leads me to the doors of UNT's MS in AI program. I am confident that within
its stimulating environment, amidst renowned faculty and collaborative opportunities, I can forge the
skills and knowledge needed to fulfill my aspirations. I am eager to contribute to the vibrant academic
community, engage in impactful research, and ultimately, unlock the full potential of AI for every
student, wherever they may be.
