How To solve Network Issues

Network connectivity is a complex matter. The root cause of a connectivity issue can be defective hardware, wrong connections, software errors
or misconfigurations and even the ISP. Being able to swiftly understand and solve a connectivity issue, is key to an effective technical intervention.

If you had changed the motherboard / Network card in a store with Black Box (Aruba 7010 or 7030), you must communicate
the MAC of the new mainboard to Helpdesk before installing the System Image.

Identifying hardware failures on the network card / motherboard.

(Rev. 6)

Identify Connectivity Issues.

The first indicator of a network issue, is the purple TGT screen staying for too long. If this screen
stays for more than 20 seconds, chances are there are network problems.
No Link:
If you wait until the timeout, you will see the Testing Setup screen. If the link is down, a
series of errors will appear.
Scroll down, if you confirm there is no link, follow How To solve Network Issues

Link OK, No connectivity to Inditex Servers:

If the ethernet link is up, but there is no connectivity to Inditex servers, The TGT splash
screen will not stay for too long, and you will see a popup stating Checks Failed on the Testi
ng Setup screen.
Make sure there is no issue in the Internet connection of the store, other devices should be
affected.
If the Internet connection is ok, confirm, with the Support team, that the MAC of the device is
properly registered on ClearPass with the appropriate role.

If you need to change a motherboard, or swap the complete system in a BlackBox equipped store, call Helpdesk
before doing anything else and provide them the MAC so they can add it to ClearPass.
FAQs
A message on the screen says: "AD Account: KO, Already exists. Please, delete it and try again.
The installation will stop, it is necessary to delete the account in AD at least 15 minutes before the installation.

In which cases should the system be reinstalled?

Only by request of the support teams.

If you have to replace a faulty C: drive, request authorization before starting the installation.

Are all USB flash drives valid for this procedure?

NO. Only high-quality ones are advised (SanDisk, Samsung, Kingston…) with at least 16Gb (Maximum of 32Gb for the 6140-A3R and
derivatives).

Even some "top branded" USB flash drives may fail to install, due to the chipset used.

The system has no connection to the network. Can I install anyway?

Only burning the image to disk can be performed without Network, the remaining steps require network connection.

I have changed the motherboard. Can I install without additional preparations?

NO.

The SN stored on the bios must be changed to the one on the external label. Follow How to change the S/N and model stored on BIOS.

The new MAC address needs to be added to ClearPass for the device to have full access to the network. Call Support and provide them the
new MAC address.

The BIOS SN does not match the label. Can I install without changing it?
NO. The SN stored on the bios is crucial to identify the machine. Follow How to change the S/N and model stored on BIOS to fix the issue.

Can I install the Linux image in stores which connect through Juniper VPN?
No, This image can only be installed in stores inside Inditex's network or which connect through a Blackbox.

A message on the screen says: "Install tests Failed, Please Check the Network connectivity of
the TGT".
There are network issues, Troubleshoot the network as on How to Solve Network Issues.

A message on the screen says: "Setup Failed".

The setup was unable to configure the device, usually due to network issues, Troubleshoot the network as on How to Solve Network Issues.

The screen of the Toshiba 6140-A3R (or variants) shows a scrambled image with white
background and black vertical lines.
This is caused by the BIOS not being configured in UEFI mode in the "Advanced Boot Setting" menu. Please, configure BIOS settings as
per TGT BIOS Configuration.

System Preparations
How to create the installation media.

Download The Image.

The first section of the installation guide contains the links and MD5 sums of the image and aditional
software. Click on the download links to download them with the browser, or copy the hyperlink to use
them on a FTP client.

You will need to use the appropriate user/password to access the FTP, which was shared through CyberArk with the respective managers or
authorized personnel. Read Access and use of CyberArk to know how to use it.

Verify the Image Integrity.

After Downloading the image, you will have to check the integrity of the downloaded file using the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier
(Windows-KB841290-x86-ENU.exe) which can be downloaded from the Tools folder on the Inditex ftp (ftp://itxftp.inditex.com/Tools/Microsoft%
20FCIV/Windows-KB841290-x86-ENU.exe)

Follow these steps once you have downloaded the Microsoft File Checksum Integrity Verifier (Hereafter FCIV) to extract the tool.

Browse to the folder where you have downloaded the tool.

Double-click over Windows-KB841290-x86-ENU.exe
Read & accept the EULA to be able to extract FCIV.
In the following window, press "Browse".
Select the same directory where the file to be verified is located and press "OK"
Press "OK" again, to extract the files.

To simplify the instructions, we will assume that you have extracted FCIV to the same directory where the file to be verified is located.

Navigate to the folder that contains the image file that you want to verify.
Once there, hold down your Shift key while right-clicking on any empty space in the folder. In the resulting menu, select the Open
command window here or Open PowerShell window here depending on what is available in your PC.
Run one of the following two commands depending on whether you use Command Prompt or PowerShell.

Command Prompt: fciv.exe [File To Be Verified]

PowerShell: .\fciv.exe "[File To Be Verified]"
FCIV will check the MD5 sum of the file and display it on the screen.

Check that the sum matches the one at the top of the Installation Guide. If It matches, proceed to the next step, if not, download the file again.

Burning the raw file to the USB Key.

Extract the image file contained in the downloaded ZIP to a known folder of your system, you will have to burn it to a USB flash drive using
the provided Win32DiskImager.

Pay special attention when selecting the destination drive, disk drive names may be different in your setup and this procedure will erase all
the information stored in the disk.

Open Win32DiskImager and follow these steps:

Click on the folder button, change the filter to browse for all the file extensions (*.*) and
select the image (.raw or .iso) file that you have previously downloaded.
Check that the image file was properly added to the "Image File" field.
Select the "Device" letter corresponding to USB flash drive.
Press "Write" and if everything is ok, confirm the warning dialog to start burning the image.

Wait until the progress bar reaches 100%.

Once done, a popup window will tell that the process has finished, accept it and extract the
pendrive from the USB port.
Once the image is created, windows will not recognice the USB drive format so ut
will prompt a window telling the USB drive needs to be formatted. Ignore this
message.
