BASIC JOB STEPS POTENTIAL HAZARDS RECOMMENDATIONS

1. Pre-Commencement Activities (Preparation of 1.1. Human Injury due to lack of communication 1.1.1. Barricade the working area (Physical Barricade)

1.6.2. Inspection / checklist and to be pass to AL-BINALI
HSE Dept. for documentation

1.7. Permit to Work 1.7.1. The required Permits to Work shall be obtained and
kept at work area at all times along with the JSA
and MSDS

1.8. Dust Control 1.8.1. Provision of dust masks for workers and
ensure their use as per MSDS
1.8.2. Provide dust mitigation by spreading water – if
possible (be aware of lying cables)

2. Mobilize materials, tools, and equipment to 2.1. Back injury (manual handling) 2.1.1. Manual handling shall be covered in daily pre-start
worksite meeting and be implemented on site
2.1.2. Buddy-buddy system may apply
2.1.3. Use of mechanical lifting if possible

2.2. Traffic and pedestrians 2.2.1. Audible reversing alarms shall be installed on
equipment / vehicles
2.2.2. Pedestrian safety precautions shall be discussed in
pre-start meeting.
2.2.3. All traffic rules and signs should be followed (on site
speed limit .
2.2.4. Only approved routes shall be used for access to
and egress from the site and fabrication
2.2.5. The drivers shall be made aware of the approved
routes
2.2.6. Trained standby-men with high-visibility vests shall
accompany the work activities near traffic/roads
2.3. Overturning of vehicle / Crash injuries 2.3.1. All drivers shall have valid Saudi Arabia driving
licenses
2.3.2. The areas where heavy equipment are working shall
be clearly marked on site
2.3.3. Safe access shall be maintained at site for vehicles
and equipment
2.3.4. Use of seatbelts shall be mandatory

2.4. Slips / Trips / Falls 2.4.1. Housekeeping shall be discussed in daily pre-start
meeting and be implemented on site on a daily
basis
2.4.2. Provide safe access / emergency walkways (free
from any materials)

3. (Unloading of Pipes, Structural and materials 3.1. Material Falls; Environmental hazard cause by 3.1.1. Use Approved lifting equipment with daily checklist
[for sand blasting and painting]) use of Lifting equipment (operator’s inspection)
equipment (Crane, Boom truck, Fork lift) 3.1.2. Only Riggers are allowed to give signals for the
crane
3.1.3. Only crane rigger will give signal for the crane
3.1.4. Approved support and stand for big pipes and
structures
3.1.5. Use softener (protection pad) to protect the sling to
damage from sharp edge materials
3.1.6. Use slings and shackles of the correct SWL for
unloading. Lifting gear to have the current
quarterly colour code displayed
3.1.7. Crane operation to be barricaded, restricted access
to unauthorized personnel
3.1.8. Two (2) tag lines are required for long pipe lifting
3.1.9. Provide lifting signboards
3.1.10. Provide approved Temporary Piping supports
3.1.11. Provide stopper to prevent the pipe to roll-over
3.1.12. Report all environmental spills

General Instruction:
- Only approved equipment to be used (crane, ,etc)
- No standing under a suspended load
4. Use of Generators for hand tools and 4.2. Electrocution 4.1.1. Use all necessary requirements including PPE for
Luminescent the task
4.1.2. Use only approved extension cables with quarterly
colour coding

4.1.3. Know the cable management (above 2 meters in


high, with flagging, avoid contact to any electrical
conductive materials)
4.1.4. Signs and marking of all underground cable facilities
General Instruction:
- Only colour coded equipment and tools are
allowed to use
- Only qualified electrician is allowed for electrical
work / alteration

SAND BLASTING WORKS

1. Use of Pneumatic Tools for Sand Blasting 1.1. Health Hazard / Injury 1.1.1. Availability of MSDS and Applied approved
(only at the approved area) Inspections by third party vendor.
1.1.2. Wear appropriate PPE as per MSDS Requirements
1.1.3. Only trained or qualified person (trained) is allowed
for handling and do the paint work as per MSDS
1.1.4. Restriction of the area by Barricade (Containment)
1.1.5. Available Emergency First Aid Box require for
the area including eye wash
1.1.6. Attachment of Whip lash Arrestor or Equivalent for
hose connections lash arrestor
1.1.7. Grounding and earthing requirements

1.2. Environment Hazard


1.2.1. Provide ground protection (for Compressor & Blast
Pots equipment)
1.2.2. Only approved PPE to be used / wear (including
breathing apparatus – if necessary)
1.2.3. Report immediately to AL-BINALI HSE Department
for all environmental Spills
1.2.4. Condensate Trap to be drained on regular basis
(monitored and registered in a logbook – with
date, time, and equipment name)

PAINTING WORKS
1. Use of Pneumatic Tools for Paint Blowing 1.1. Health Hazard / Injury to health 1.1.8. Availability of MSDS and Applied approved
(retouch painting) Inspections BY Third Party Vendor
1.1.9. Wear appropriate PPE as per MSDS Requirements
1.1.10. Only trained or qualified person is allowed for
handling and do the paint work as per MSDS

Use of Compressor and other kinds of Air


pump 1.1.11. Availability of MSDS and Applied approved
Inspections by third party vendor.
1.1.12. Wear appropriate PPE as per MSDS
Requirements
1.1.13. Only trained or qualified person is allowed for

completion
2.1.2. Good housekeeping practice shall be implemented
throughout the day
2.1.3. Daily Cleaning (collection of spread Garnets)
