In case of no reuse/recycle of waste water, Give brief note on
justification as why no reuse/recycle.
As it is a Active Pharmaceutical ingredient and its intermediate
manufacturing unit, the product quality standards are very high. The purity
required as per the pharmacopeia is more than 99.5%.If the treated effluent
is recycle in the process there is every possibility of microbes and organics
entering the API and its ingredients.
Iii Waste water generation (KLD)
Brief Note on worst case scenario for waste water generation(Qualitative and
Quantitative):
The worst case scenario will be when API’s namely Prasugel,Losartan Potassium and
Probencid will be manufactured.
The concentrated stream about 5 kl/day will be generated of COD about 76000 mg/l and
TDS about 2,29000 mg/l. This effluent will be segregated at source itself. It will be collected
in the newly proposed 5 kl storage tank. The concentrated effluent will either then be sent
to BEIL CMEE Dahej or evaporated in house.
Brief justification in case of no process effluent generation or no industrial effluent
generation or no high concentration effluent generation from proposed project
(Whichever is applicable).
Not applicable
Iv Treatment facility within premises with capacity
[In-house ETP (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary), MEE, Stripper, Spray Dryer,
STP etc.
The high COD and high TDS streams will be segregated at source. Out of the total
quantity of 29 kl/day of effluent about 4 kl/day of effluent will be high COD and high TDS.
This stream will be directly collected and sent to BEIL CMEE at Dahej or will be
evaporated in inhouse MEE/MVR Plant. The 25 kld low COD and low TDS streams will be
taken to Primary and secondary ETP and tertiary ETP units and after treatment will be
discharges into GIDC drain after meeting with disposal norms.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION: ETP (EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT)
The details of ETP are as under.
All non-toxic and biodegradable streams of wastewater will be collected in treated in
collection cum equalization tank. Then it will be taken to flash mixer where lime, ferrous
sulphate. alum and Polyelectrolyte will be done. The effluent will then be taken to filter
press .The sludge will be separated and disposed to TSDF and the supernatant will be
given secondary treatment by taking to primary clarifier, Aeration tank and secondary
clarifier. The secondary sludge will also be disposed to TSDF. After passing through
Pressure sand filter and activated carbon filter the treated effluent will be collected in
Treated wastewater Holding tank from where it will be finally discharged to GIDC drain.
Treatment scheme including segregation at source. (Give Characteristics of
each stream i.e. COD, BOD, TDS etc.) In case of stream segregation,
Separate ETP (ETP-1, ETP-2….) for each stream shall be proposed.

III Fugitive emission details with its mitigation measures:
Fugitive emissions will be mainly in the form of volatile organic compounds
and acid fumes.
For control and mitigation of the same following steps will be taken
All the reactions and processes will be carried out in the closed reactors with
maintenance of required temperature and pressure.
The working area will be periodically monitored for presence of fugitive
emissions and it will be ensured that they are well with in prescribed permissible
limits.
The industry will adopt closed material feeding system for centrifuge, layer
separation, filtration and distillation.
The unit will ensure that there are minimum joints, flanges and valves and there
are no leakages from the same as it will be a material loss.

III VOC emission sources and its mitigation measures
In API and its intermediates units VOC air emissions are from reactor vents,
manholes, material loading and unloading, acid gases (halogen acids, sulphur
dioxide, nitrous oxides) fugitive emissions, from pumps, sample collections,
valves, tanks. It mitigation measures are detailed in the column of LDAR in the
Environment management plan submitted along with.
IV Justification of Reuse of solvent:
Major benefits of solvent recovery and reuse of solvent are
Significantly reduces purchase of expensive replacement solvents.
Cost of hazardous waste disposal is reduced.
Reduced inventory requirement of expensive solvents.
Makes the project economically viable.
Increases overall plant efficiency and profitability.

Applicability of PESO :
Company will take PESO permission after getting EC, If any expansion in
hazardous chemical is done ,if applicable.
II Process safety details : (If applicable)
Bromination Process:
. A full-face or half-mask respirator with ammonia or sodium ash chemical
cartridges, NIOSH approved pressure-demand self-contained breathing
apparatus or pressure hose, and masks with egress bottles will be used while
handling bromine. All respiratory equipment will be carefully maintained and
stored in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Chlorination
The chlorine utilized in the chlorination will have a detection system. The traces
of HCL and CL2 from the Process during plant shutdowns, upsets, and product
changeovers will be removed in the Alkali scrubbers. CL2 Gas detection and fire
protection systems Periodic inspection and maintenance system the reactors not
in operation at atmospheric temperature will be provided with glass wool lagging
in containing the heat; motors and other rotating equipment machines will be
provided with suitable safety guards.
