1 PURPOSE

The purpose of this specification is to define the requirements for the numbering of Technical
Documentation.

2 SCOPE

Note that within technical documentation:

• Engineering documentation, including Process Licensors documentation
• Fabrication documentation,
• Vendor documentation,
• 3rd Party and audit documentation,
are treated as different document classes; each class has specific (and different) document
management requirements.
This means each class has different attributes required in the electronic document
management system.

In its current revision, this specification describes the method by which Engineering
Documentation shall be identified and numbered. Future revision will cover also numbering
of other types of technical documentation.

Additional attributes are required to be maintained for population of COMPANY Document

Management Systems. The definition of these additional attributes is not the purpose of this
specification.

By application of the above, the present revision excludes:

a. Shop fabrication drawings and related documentation which are numbered in

accordance with the Fabricator's own standard procedures (to be defined).

b. Vendor documentation which shall be numbered in accordance with the Dolphin

Energy Vendor data and Documentation Requirements specification Number;
DOL-0000-QSP-01133
The format of this number will be made of:
• Purchase order number reference,
• Document type code, consistent with the Vendor Document Requirement List
• Sequence number,
• Revision index.

However Vendor PID’s related to tagged items of major equipment (packages) and
of Process Licensors shall be:
• Numbered in accordance with Section 5.2 of this specification,
• Established with the same drawing format (e.g. using the same drawing title
block) and the same drafting conventions and symbols as the P&IDs produced
by main engineering contractors.

DOL-0000-GSP-00001 REV A15

3 DEFINITIONS AND PROJECT IDENTIFICATION

3.1 Technical Documentation

The term "technical documentation" as used in the context of this specification encompasses
engineering drawings, calculations and text based material, i.e. technical specifications,
study reports, philosophies, manuals and procedures, including maintenance and operation
manuals, assessments (e.g. EIA), G&G documents, etc…

It does not include management system procedures and manuals, which are not of a
technical nature and not subject to the document numbering system defined herein.
3.2 Contractor

The person or entity who is party to a contract with Company for supply of work/services
and/or associated materials and equipment.

3.3 Project Identification

Project Designation: “Dolphin Gas Project"

The projects consist of the following constituent parts:

Upstream:
Dolphin Wellhead/Production Platform 1
Dolphin Wellhead/Production Platform 2
Upstream Subsea Pipelines and Umbilicals
Ras Laffan onshore treatment plant, and utilities
Ras Laffan offsites (Harbour area, etc..)
Ras Laffan base camp

Midstream :
Ras Laffan Export compression and metering facilities (located within the fence of the
onshore treatment plant)
Gas export pipeline
Taweelah receiving and custody transfer facilities
Taweelah to GASCO tie-in point

Downstream:
Downstream Pipeline Al Ain to Fujairah
Jebel Ali receiving and custody transfer facilities

The above classifications will be used to identify each specific area, where appropriate
(see Appendix 1).

5 of 10
DOL-0000-GSP-00001 REV A15

3.4 Drawings

All drawings to contain within their title block in a clear and concise manner the following
details:

Reservation for the Dolphin Energy Ltd corporate logo

Dolphin Energy Ltd (in Arabic and in English)
Dolphin Energy Ltd Contract Number
Contractor's logo and name.

For typical example refer to Appendix 5.

3.5 Documents

All documents to contain on their front cover sheet in a clear and concise manner the
following details:

Reservation for a potential Dolphin Energy Ltd corporate logo (not available now)
Dolphin Energy Ltd (in Arabic and in English)
The appropriate constituent part as referred to in Section 3.3.
Dolphin Energy Ltd Contract Number.
Contractor's logo and name.

For typical example refer to Appendix 6.

4 RESPONSIBILITIES

a. The Contractor is responsible for ensuring that technical documentation prepared by

them, or by sub parties/contractors, such as Process Licensors, meet the
requirements of this specification.

b. Dolphin Energy shall ensure that technical documentation for the Project complies
with this specification.

5 DRAWING NUMBERING

5.1 General

The numbering system consists of utilising the following identifiers.

Area Code (Three Character Alpha Code or Alpha numeric)

Defines the area/facility to which the drawings refer. (Refer to Appendix 1).

6 of 10
DOL-0000-GSP-00001 REV A15

Location Code (Four Character Alpha and/or Numeric Code)

Designed to divide the area/facility into easily definable locations. (Refer to Appendix 2)

Note: As a general principle, for the onshore facilities, the location code is made of the three
digits of the unit number plus one digit related to the train number.

Discipline Code (Single Alpha Character)

Identifies the discipline responsible for producing the drawing. (Refer to Appendix 3)

Document Type (Two Character Alpha Code)

Defines the drawing type or content. These are identified in Appendix 4.

Sequential Number (Five Digits)

5 digit numbers ranging from 00001 to 99999 These can be applied to each different
combination of AREA – LOCATION – DISCIPLINE & DOCUMENT TYPE;

The drawing number (with any sheet number) shall never be used twice to identify a second
drawing, even if the first drawing has been deleted, cancelled or voided.

Multiple Sheet Drawings (Two Digits)

If two or more sheets are required to complete any particular drawing a sheet number facility
is available; this shall also be utilised to group common drawings (e.g. Cause & Effect
Matrices, P&ID's related to one specific process system number).

Each unique sequence number shall commence with a sheet number default of .01 . Not
necessary if only one sheet is used

For typical example refer to Section 5.2.

5.2 Typical example of general drawing number, including Process and Instrument
Diagrams (P&ID’s)

RLP-1010-PPI-20204.01

Area (Appendix 1)

Location (Appendix 2) Sheet Number (Section 5.1)

(if required)
Discipline (Appendix 3)
Sequence Number (5 digits)
Document Type (Appendix 4)

When quoting drawing numbers, the number shall be followed by the revision identifier
(refer section 7).

7 of 10
DOL-0000-GSP-00001 REV A15

6 DOCUMENT NUMBERING

6.1 General

The numbering system consists of utilising the following identifiers.

Area Code (Three Character Alpha Code)

Defines the actual area/facility to which the documents refer. (Refer to Appendix 1)

Location Code (Four Character Alpha or Numeric Code)

Designed to divide the area/facility into easily definable locations. (Refer to Appendix 2)

Note: As a general principle, for the onshore facilities, the location code is made of the three
digits of the unit number plus one digit related to the train number.

Discipline Code (Single Alpha Character)

Identifies the discipline responsible for producing the document. (Refer to Appendix 3)

Document Type (Two Character Alpha Code)

Identifies the document type. These are identified in Appendix 4.

Sequential Number (Five Digits)

5 digit sequential numbers ranging from 00001 to 99999 These can be applied to each
different combination of AREA – LOCATION – DISCIPLINE & DOCUMENT TYPE

The document number shall never be used twice to identify a second document, even if the
first document has been deleted, cancelled or voided.

Where a document exists (ie as produced during FEED or earlier contract) the number shall
be retained with the document up revised. It will not be renumbered.

6.2 Typical example of document number

RLP-1010-PMA-10004.01

Area (Appendix 1) Volume identifier, when

required (optional)
Location (Appendix 2) Sequence Number (5 digits)
