Description of Air Vibe Scarf:
The Air Vibe Scarf is knitted from one tip to the other. Increases are made on one side during the first half of
the scarf. When the center of the scarf is reached, decreases are worked on the same side where the
increases were made until there are 6 stitches remaining. The entire scarf is knitted in alternating sections of a
simple lace pattern and garter ridges.

The scarf comes in 2 versions:

Version 1: Features 6 garter ridges between the lace pattern.

Version 2: Has 3 garter ridges between the lace pattern.

An i-cord edge is continuously knitted on both sides of the scarf. Both scarves have the same size since the
frequency of increases and decreases is the same.

After washing, the scarf measures 17 cm at the widest point and 118 cm in length.

The short gold version measures 76 cm in length and 13 cm in width. The gold version can be knitted with 3 or
6 garter ridges between the lace pattern, according to personal preference.

Yarn: The scarf can be knitted with 1 or 2 strands and is also ideal for using leftover yarn.

Yarn Alternatives for 1 Strand:

1 strand of Önling No 1, 75% merino wool, 25% angora, 50g/180m from Önling. (Color used in the picture:
Bolsana).

Consumption: Approximately 45g. One skein is sufficient for one scarf.

Yarn Alternatives for 2 Strands:

1 strand of Önling No 10, 70% mohair, 30% silk, 210m per 25g. (Color used in the picture: 3628) knitted
together with 1 strand of Önling No 12, 55% wool, 45% cotton, 800m per 115g.

Consumption: Approximately 15g of Önling No 10 (Color used in the picture: 3628) knitted together with
approximately 20g of Önling No 12 (Color used in the picture: 14).

Yarn Alternatives for 2 Strands Short Gold Version (Length 76 cm, Width 13 cm):
1 strand of Shiny from Krea Deluxe, 80% viscose, 20% polyester, 95m per 25g knitted together with 1 strand
of Deluxe Silkmohair from Krea Deluxe, 45% silk, 33% mohair, 22% baby alpaca.

Consumption: Approximately 25g of Shiny Krea Deluxe knitted together with approximately 20g of Krea
Deluxe Silkmohair.

Needles: Circular needle 4.5mm.

Gauge: 10cm x 10cm = 20 stitches x 28 rows on a 4.5mm needle in the textured pattern with your chosen
yarn AFTER WASHING. Lace pattern and texture change after washing, so gauge should be measured after
washing and blocking. However, as the Air Vibe Scarf is a scarf, gauge is not as critical. It may affect the size
of the scarf, but the pattern is forgiving and will still look great in different sizes. :)

KNITTING TECHNIQUES AND ABBRIVIATIONS
Several of the described techniques may be easier to understand by watching a video. If you haven't tried
them before, I recommend checking out tutorial videos on my Instagram profile @knityourvibe or on my
website www.knityourvibe.com.

inc: increase. Pick up the yarn between the two sts from behind with your left needle and knit it through the
back loop.
k: knit
k2tog: knit 2 sts together
p: purl
SSK: slip 2 sts, one at a time. Knit the two sts together through the back loop.
Edge stitches: The 3 first sts are always knitted. The last 3 sts are always slipped off with yarn in front of the
work (Sl3wyif)
YO - Yarn over: bring the yarn around your right needle between the sts. When
presented in the pattern, work the stich before as described, bring the yarn around your
right needle to create an extra stitch followed by working the next stitch as the pattern calls
for. On the next row, work the YO as a purl sts (on the wrong side), which will create a hole.

Lace Pattern
Alternate between lace patterns that lean to the right and left.

Every other lace pattern leans to the left – see diagram 1. This means the yarn over should come AFTER the
previous yarn over.

Every other lace pattern leans to the right – see diagram 2. This means the yarn over should come BEFORE
the previous yarn over.

TIP! Make increases/decreases on the first row of the lace pattern and the first row of the garter ridge pattern.
(If you are knitting 6 garter ridges, also make increases/decreases on the 1st and 7th row of the garter ridge
pattern.)

CAST ON
Cast on 6 sts in your choice of yarn using circular needles 4,5 mm. Work the tip of the scarf as follows:

1st row (WS): k3, sl3wyif, turn.

2nd row (RS): k until 3 sts remaining, 1 inc, sl3wyif, turn.

3rd row = k until 3 sts remaining, sl3wyif, turn.

4th row = work as the 3rd row.

5th row = work as the 3rd row.

6th row = work as the 3rd row.

7th row = work as the 3rd row.

Repeat row 2-7 till you have 12 sts on the needle.

Textured pattern
Knit according to diagram 1. Continue making increases within the edge stitch on every 6th row while working
the chart.

After diagram 1, knit garter ridges and edge stitches with increases on every 6th row as in the 2nd row.
Knit 3 or 6 garter ridges between each lace pattern section.

Then knit according to diagram 2. Remember to make increases on every 6th row.
Continue knitting garter ridges with increases alternately with diagram 1 & 2 until the scarf measures
approximately 51 cm. For the short gold version, knit until the scarf measures about 35 cm.

Choose the middle of a garter ridge section to transition to decreases, making the scarf symmetrical at its
widest point.

Knit garter ridges with decreases as follows:

Work the garter ridges with decreases as follows:

1st row (RS): knit until 5 sts remaining, k2tog, slip 3 sts wyif, turn.

2nd row: knit until you have 3 sts remaining, slip 3 sts wyif, turn.

3rd row = work as the 2nd row.

4th row = work as the 2nd row.

5th row = work as the 2nd row.

6th row = work as the 2nd row.

Knit the 1st and 2nd rows either 6 or 3 times in total, depending on whether you are knitting Air Vibe Scarf 1 or
2.

Remember to choose the same frequency as in the first part of the scarf where increases are made. Knit
alternately between diagram 1 & 2 between garter ridges. The last lace pattern is worked with approximately
12 sts on the needle. After that, knit garter ridges while decreasing on every 6th row until there are 6 sts
remaining on the needle. Bind off.

Finishing
Weave in loose ends, wash the scarf, and block it to showcase the texture pattern beautifully. Lay the scarf flat
to dry.
