CONTENT SUMMARY

Objectives: Enhance language skills and develop critical thinking.


Paper – I English Language Total Marks (100) - Passing Marks (40)
The objective of this course is to enhance the English language skills (grammar,
reading, writing, listening and speaking) of the law students. The students would be
trained to express their ideas, feelings and experiences in English. The course shall
motivate the students to develop the habit of self-study. The students shall be
encouraged to participate in class activities to enhance their communication skills.
The course contents include:
01. Basics of Grammar
02. Parts of Speech and use of Articles
03. Analysis of Phrase, Clause and Sentence Structure
04. Tenses: Past, Present & Future
05. Punctuation and Spelling
06. Direct and Indirect Speech
07. Active and Passive Voice
08. Correction of Errors
09. Précis Writing and Comprehension (answers the questions on a given text)
10. Vocabulary (including basic legal terms)
11. Idioms, phrases and Sayings
12. Translation (English to Urdu and Urdu to English)
Note: Extensive reading would be required for vocabulary building. Documentaries
may
be shown for discussion and review.
