1. How do we assess democracy’s outcomes? Or Why democracy is a better form of government


?
Democracy was better because...
1. Promotes equality among citizens,
2. Enhances the dignity of the individual,
3. Improves the quality of decision making,
4. Try to resolve conflicts,
5. Allows room to correct mistakes.

2. Why do we prefer democracy only for moral reasons?


Democratic Government:
1. They have formal constitutions,
2. They hold elections,
3. They have parties,
4. They guarantee rights of citizens.
Moral and prudential Reasons of democracy:
1. It reduce the chances of confliction among people
2. It has political stability.

3. How does democracy produce an accountable, responsive and legitimate government?


Accountable government:
1. The people choose their representatives through the election
2. They are answerable to the people or to the parliament.
3. It is responsible for all the decisions
4. People can replace the elected one in the next election.
Responsive Government:
1. They are elected by the people.
1. They are responsible towards the people and Parliament.
2. They promote the public opinion and take care of the people.
Legitimate government.
1. It may be slow, less efficient, not always very responsible.
2. But it's people’s own government.
3. Rule by selected people

4. Democracy not to lag behind dictatorships. Support this statement. Or Economic development
depends on several factors.
1. Country’s population size,
2. Global situation,
3. Cooperation from other countries,
4. Economic priorities adopted by the country, etc.
5. Explain the role of democratic governments in reducing economic disparities or Explain any
three ways in which democracies have been able to reduce inequality and poverty.
Democracy has been able to reduce inequality and poverty:
1. It gives equal rights to the people; it does not discriminate on the basis of sex, religion,
color, caste etc.
2. Democracy directs to a more equal division of privileges to under privilege which
overcomes poverty.
3. Democracy provides an opportunity to increase the interests of impoverished people.
4. Democracy promote a more transparent form of government.
5. Governments can promote equity, and reduce inequality and poverty, through the tax and
benefits system.

6. How does democracy reduces the possibility of tensions.


1. Democracy reduces the possibility of tensions becoming explosive or violent.
2. Democracy can evolve a mechanism to negotiate these differences.
3. Ability to handle social differences divisions and conflicts is a plus point of democratic
regimes.

7. "Democracies lead to peaceful and harmonious life among citizens." Justify this statement.
1. In most countries, the democracy produces a government that is accountable to the
citizens and responsive to the needs and expectations of the citizens.
2. Thus, it promotes equality among citizens.
3. People wish to be ruled by representatives elected by them as in a democratic government
i.e people's own government.
4. No society can fully and permanently resolve the conflict among different groups.
5. But we can learn to respect these differences and evolve mechanisms to negotiate them.
6. Democracy is best suited as it develops a procedure to conduct competitions.
7. Belgium is a successful example of negotiating differences among ethnic groups.

8. Dignity and freedom of Citizen. Explain


1. Democracy stands much superior in promoting dignity and freedom of the individual.
2. Every individual wants to receive respect from fellow beings.
The case of dignity of women.
3. Most societies across the world are male dominated societies.
4. Equal treatmen and respectt of women are necessary ingredients of a democratic society.
Based on caste inequalities.
5. Democracy in India has strengthened the disadvantaged and discriminated castes for
equal status and equal opportunity.
6. Perhaps it is the recognition that makes ordinary citizens value their democratic rights.
