Project Name
Welel- Nunu Gravel Road project
Monthly Progress Report for Surveying Works
Client Name:-Oromia Road & Logistic

Authority

Prepared by:-Temesgen Wakweya (RE)

Date of Report:-October 25-2024

Monthly surveying report should be summarizing the surveying activities conducted over the
course of a month, highlighting progress, challenges, and any important observations. This report
should keep clients, stakeholders, or team members informed about the status of ongoing
projects. Below is a suggested structure for a monthly surveying report:
Monthly Surveying Report
1. Title Page
 Project Title: Welel –Nunu Gravel Road Project.
 Report Title: Monthly Surveying Report
 Reporting Period: ( October 25, 2024)
 Prepared by: Temesgen Wakweya (RE)
 Prepared for: Road and Transport works Directorate
 Date: (October 25, 2024)

2. Executive Summary
 Overview:- According to our plan until now we are production of pre casting Concrete
GPS Point , establish control point and reading static GPS point ,Cross-section data
collection & Establish benchmark with Averagely 150m.
 Progress:- Up to date we are received assignment Redesign of Welel Nunu Road project
we are done 18+000 KM collected cross section data & 18+000 KM establish control
point from 40km of total agreement (we are done by percentage 35% )
 Key Issues: Our project topography is very difficult for vehicle transport due to
Mountains and Escarpment terrain or high steep slope, political security issue , un
sessional rain fall , lack of Electric power , lack of fuel, and it is difficult for land
surveying because of alignment road is cover by Forest and coffee plant.

3. Introduction
 Project Description: -This project involves links Yamalagi wereda to Jimma Horro
Wereda 40km Redesign and Study of surveying Gravel Road Project).
 Objectives for the Month:- ( production of pre –casting Concrete GPS 28 Point , launch
control point and reading static GPS point , Data collection of Cross-section & Launch
benchmark ).
 Survey Area: Land surveying or Data collection of cross-section.

4. Activities and Progress

This section outlines the specific surveying tasks completed during the month. You can break it
down by weeks or areas surveyed.
4.1 Weekly Summary
 Week 1: communicate with focal person of wereda and having meeting with kebele
represent on interest of people about that project, Site investigation, how to manage
political issues and selection of GPS point with interval of 3km,
 Week 2:-Transfer known coordinate of EMA point from Chanka town which is 40 km
far from our project of 0+000km, Launch GPS 14 points i.e. 7 pre and Reading Static on
control point.
 Week 3:-Detail data collection from 0+000km up to 9+000km.
 Week 4: -Detail data collection from 9+000km up to 18+000km.
4.2 Progress against Objectives
 Area Covered: Describe the total kilometer surveyed ("Surveyed 18+000 km of the total
40+000 km site.")
 Work Completed: List the specific activities completed, such as Established control
point for 18+000km and collected detail data for specify km.
 Key Milestones Achieved: Mention any significant achievements (“Half of control
points established from the total kilometer, topographical data 35% complete.")
5. Issues and Challenges.
 Topography is very difficult for vehicle transport due to Mountains and Escarpment
terrain or high steep slope, political security issue, un sessional rain fall, lack of Electric
power, lack of fuel, and it is difficult for land surveying because of alignment road is
cover by Forest, coffee plant and satellite not fix fastly because high density of forest,
without our permission military forces using our car daily.
. 5.1 Technical Issues
 Equipment Malfunctions: no problem
 Data Errors:- no issue

 5.2 Environmental and Site Conditions

 Weather Conditions: Heavy rainfall delayed work on 5 days and
 Site Access: After 16+000km up to 40+000km no access road.
 Terrain Challenges: Topography is very difficult for vehicle transport due to Mountains

and Escarpment terrain or high steep slope and not suitable for surveying.

 5.3 Safety Issues

No issue.

6. Actions Taken
 Problem Resolution:-on issue of Electric power we have rent Generator and paid the
gasoil, on case of high density of forest by using daily labors clearing and cutting on
Right way of road, we have report to regrading body to stop using our car on issue of
military force, but there is no solution at all.
 Preventive Measures: - we have rent Generator for charging instrument and additional
equipment’s.
 Team Adjustments: - To execute our plan we have used our time effectively and adding
daily labor on necessary work.
7. Equipment and Resources
 Equipment Used: - Fixed GPS.
 Status of Equipment: good working
 Resource Utilization: Number of hours worked, personnel involved (Daily laborer), etc.

8. Data Analysis and Preliminary Results

 Data Collected: -Topographical maps for 18 km of the site were completed; data
collected for 35% of the km.
 Initial Analysis:-
 Accuracy and Quality Control:-Cross-checked survey points with EMA data and found
a 100% accuracy match.")

9. Next Steps
 Plans for Next Month:-
 Launch rest GPS 14 points i.e. 7 pre and Reading Static on control point.
 Detail data collection from18+000km up to 40+000km.
 Established benchmark with averagely of 150m
 Milestones to Achieve:-Complete the topographical survey for the entire site by end of
November.
 Resources Required: To overcome our plan additional crew of surveyor and surveying
equipment, Topography is very difficult for vehicle transport due to Mountains and
Escarpment terrain or high steep slope, so we request strong car.

10. Appendices
 Maps and Diagrams: Include any maps, diagrams, or charts generated from the survey.
Topography of road

 Photos: Pictures taken during the survey showing the site conditions or key features.
 Raw Data: Tables with GPS coordinates, elevation data, or other survey data collected.
We have attached raw data of daily recorded by excel.

Guidelines for Writing a Monthly Survey Report:

 Keep it concise and to the point. Provide clear, factual information.
 Use visuals, such as maps, charts, or images, to illustrate progress and findings.
 Include specific metrics, such as the percentage of work completed or the number of
sites surveyed, to quantify progress.
 Be transparent about challenges and provide solutions or mitigation strategies.
 Tailor the report to the audience, this report should be clear for any reader and
focusing on what they need to know, whether it's technical data or overall project
progress.
