General Instructions:

i. This question paper consists of 39 questions in 5


sections.
ii. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal
choice is provided in some questions. A student is
expected to attempt only one of these questions.
iii. Section A consists of 20 objective type questions
carrying 1 mark each.
iv. Section B consists of 6 Very Short questions carrying
02 marks each. Answers to these questions should be
in the range of 30 to 50 words
v. Section C consists of 7 Short Answer type questions

should be in the range of 50 to 80 words.
vi. Section D consists of 3 Long Answer type questions
carrying 05 marks each. Answer to these questions
should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.

of assessment of 04 marks each with sub-parts.

37 Hydro carbons are the organic compounds of carbon 4


and hydrogen, which are obtained from coal, petroleum
and natural gas. Hydro carbons and their derivatives
maybe saturated, unsaturated, cyclic and aromatic. Due
to their large number, in order to corelate and have a
systematic study of organic compounds they have been
further classified into a number of series or families
known as homologous series.
A) Why are unsaturated hydrocarbons more reactive
than saturated hydrocarbons?
B) How will you differentiate between saturated and
unsaturated hydro carbons?
C) Write the structural formula and electron dot
structure of cyclic hydrocarbon- cyclopentane.

C)The molecular formula of Pentane is C5H12. Write
all the possible isomers.
38 All human chromosomes are not paired. Most human 4
chromosomes have a maternal and paternal copy, and
we have 22 such pairs. But one pair called sex
chromosomes, is odd and not always being a perfect

39 In a simple electric circuit, the current through a 4


conductor depends upon its resistance and the potential
difference across its ends. In various electrical
appliances, we often use resisters in various
combination. In our household, various appliances are
connected in parallel.

(b)Mention the factors on which the resistance of a
cylindrical conductor depends.
