interpreted that a child may have an interest in making a career as a footballer, cricketer etc.

APTITUDE "Aptitude" is something very important especially for students who are trying to enter
corporate world or going to write any competitive exams. I Personally Feel "Aptitude is not
Knowledge or Skills that one has learned over the years, it's a 'natural talent' that someone posses."
However, it can be explored and developed within by us and that can be achieved by understanding
and practicing the concepts of aptitude. ( Please refer to page no. 13 to read "Tips to improve
Aptitude" ) An individual with good aptitude skills are considered better than others because they are
fast at their mind and good at problem solving skills. Thus aptitude has become the most important
soft skills these days.

Conclusion, suggestions and Guidance:
Madhura came across as an stable minded, confident, sensible woman who intends to perform well as
well as be a good and pleasing person for all. She has this tendency of repeating statement that she
wants to emphasis on, a number of times. She is a person whose defence mechanism comes to
conscious play the very instant she’s been pointed out of her repeated thoughts and statement as she
goes into explaining the sequel of her actions even when it is not necessary and uncalled for. Here,
Case Study data: By Rajesh Jamwal – IGNOU, MAPC – Enrollment No.
2001281009. Contact: 9867267228 – [email protected]
she becomes emotionally unstable and reveals a side which is not visible in the first instance. She
defends her stance as to the fact that no salary has caused her great financial inconvenience and it’s
the end of the world for her, because of which she was of impression that she is unsuitable for the
quality and quantity of work she’s been doing, hence had the need to visit the career counsellor. Upon
deconstructing her reports, I highlighted her aptitude strengths in mechanical, verbal and writing
abilities basis of the conversation despite her scores displayed average. She had his innate knack of
grabbing and retaining attention when she was speak and her body language supported her overall
aura. Using nuances of SFBT, I informed of her repetitions of statements to emphasise a specific
statement which are negative in nature and are the ones that reinforces her negative thoughts, to
which, at first she first accepted, then defended and then reflected on it and accepted it again saying
that such repetitions is doing herself more harm. I also told her to pay extra attention to the urge of
repeating a statement, reflect on her thoughts, categories them into positive or negative and choose the
appropriate thoughts if she get an urge to repeat a specific thought. She thoughtfully agreed and
mentioned that she realized that perhaps this repetition is casing her additional anxiety and to
overcome this she’ll work on this suggestion diligently. Basis of her personality scores, she’s scored
good and was in line of her present state, she comes across as dominant, enthusiastic and realistic
person. However, her score is high indicating as imaginative, but in the sense being, she imagines
herself to be perfect and hence is unable to accept criticism which causes her to be defensive. The
same was brought to her notice, which at first she refused, then reflected on our discussions from the
beginning and expressed that that was her innate nature. She mentioned that she’ll work towards
working on her emotional thoughts and be more acceptable to taking things in the light of constructive
criticism rather than just criticism. Madhura, is an intelligent person who prefers to work things
herself rather than being dependant on others, which reflected well from her scores in mechanical
reasoning. She can be classified as a person having a dominant kinaesthetic learning ability and in
combination with higher average scores in verbal and writing abilities, can enhance her career / job
related performances to a higher levels.
Bases of her scores in aptitude and personality, she was advised to be in her current profession and
utilize her strengths by accepting more activities that requires her to have detailed conversations [as in
counselling] with her students. With a proper check on her innate repetitive behaviour, she is sure to
do very well in a counselling and placement profession that she is currently in.
