Student Visas and Immigration

1. Student Visa Information
As an international student, you are likely to need a student visa to study in the UK. We advise you to self-
assess against the student visa criteria before accepting this offer to ensure that your prospects of obtaining
a visa to study in the UK are good. You can access the most up-to-date government information here:
Student visa - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). If you need to apply for a student visa to study at the University of
West London, you will require a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from us as your sponsor
institution, before applying for your visa. Please see detailed guidance here: UKCISA - international student
advice and guidance - Student route: eligibility and requirements. Please also refer to the UWL International
Student Visa Guide, a copy of which is included with your offer email.

2. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)

You will only be issued a CAS if this has been approved by the University. As part of the process, you may be
subject to a pre-CAS interview by an International Office staff member. You may also be asked to submit
additional financial documentation and answer any further queries if necessary.

The University reserves the right to refuse sponsorship or withdraw a CAS at any stage of the Admissions
process. UK Visa & Immigration rules also require universities to report any student who fails to enrol at the
expected time or who fail to attend classes and engage with their studies without authorisation, as well as
any student who discontinues or defers his or her studies.

The University must keep a copy of the passport of all its international students so please supply this with
your acceptance slip. You should provide a copy of the front cover of your passport, the page(s) including
your photograph and personal details. Copies of the relevant pages of your original passport will be taken at
enrolment to check your right to study in the UK. We will also require a copy of the Visa sticker in your
passport.

3. Differentiated Nationals
If you are a national of certain countries under Immigration Rules: Appendix Student - Immigration Rules -
Guidance - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) (see Differential evidence requirement for a Student ST 22.1), you may not
need to submit financial documents in support of your visa application for UK Immigration purposes.
However, you do need to prepare your financial evidence along with your visa application in case this is
requested by the caseworker during the consideration of your visa application. If financial evidence is
requested, please contact us immediately and we can advise and check its suitability before submitting it to
the caseworker.

4. What if my Visa is Refused?

If your visa is refused, you must advise the University as soon as you receive notification from the Home
Office. You must also contact us before submitting an Administrative Review so that we can assist you with
the process where appropriate.

5. Accommodation, Enrolment and Support

Accommodation options are available to view and book on the University's website here.

The University of West London encourages applicants and students to disclose their disability and/or support
requirements at the earliest opportunity, for example on the application form or at any interview, as this
helps staff to provide students with appropriate information and support.
Such early disclosure enables the University’s Wellbeing team to contact the applicant to consider
appropriate support requirements and to identify whether reasonable adjustments can be made prior to the
start of term.

Please note that whilst the University will endeavour to make reasonable and timely adjustments, if
reasonable adjustments cannot be made prior to the start of term, then your offer may be withdrawn or
deferred to the following semester/academic year.

You can contact the Wellbeing team on 020 8231 2739 or via email at [email protected].

The offer is subject to meeting the terms and conditions of the university and complying with applicable
university regulations.

Once you have accepted this offer, you have 14 days to cancel your acceptance. Further details, and full
terms and conditions can be found here. These must be read and understood prior to accepting your offer.
