The Horse and The Snail

Once, there lived a horse in a big forest. He was well pleased with himself as he could run very
fast. One day, he saw a snail walking by. Seeing how slowly the snail moved, the horse started
mocking him. “You are such a slowcoach. Hey snail! Shall we have a race?” the horse asked. The
snail was very angry with the horse. “Okay! Let’s do it! We will race at the weekend,” said the snail.
The snail went home and called all his brothers and sisters to discuss this matter. He told
everyone about the race. They hatched a plan to outsmart the horse. Since all the snails looked the
same, they decided to trick the horse with their cleverness. When the day came, they left their
home very early. They started to wait in places away from each other all the way from the starting
point to the finishing line. As the race started, the horse ran a little and then looked down. He saw
the snail moving in front of him. The horse ran faster but the snail was still in the lead. The horse
started running harder and faster.
However hard the horse tried, he was still behind the snail. The poor horse finally called it a day
