PERFORMING UMRAH
The things which one packs at home
before leaving for the Hajj, whould include
a good thick plastic rope, a few big pins and
a thick cloth which can be used for privacy
alternatively readymade STANDY’S are
available which are foldable, light weight
& easy to carry which can be used for
privacy.
Two Farz & Two Wajib of
UMRAH
Their are two fardh and two Wajib acts
in the Umrah. The two Fardh acts are:
1. Donning of the Ihram with the intention
(Neeyat) of the Umrah and recite the
Labbaik.
2. To Circumambulate (Tawaaf) the
Ka’abah 7 times. The two wajib are:
6
1. To observe the Sa’ee 7 times on the Safa
and Marwah.
2. To shave or trim the hair on one’s head
(Halaq)
Put on the Ihraam and observe two rakaat
of Nafl Salaat with the intention of the
Ihraam. In the first rakaat, recite the surah
“Qul Ya aiyyu hal kaafiroon” and in the
second recite “Qul Hu Walla Hu Ahad”
then the men should remove their headgear
and make the intention of performing the
Umrah. The women should put on a visor
glass or a hat and over it a veil, so that the
cloth does not touch the face, and their face
is not seen by a Non Mehrem. If they are in
the condition to observe Salaat, they
should perform it, and if not, just observe
the intention. the intention should be
recited in the Arabic as
7
“Allahuma innee ureedul umrata fayassirha lee
fataqabbalha minee”.
(O ALLAH! Please make it easy for me to
perform the Umrah and please accept it.”) After
this, the men aloud and the women should, in
the tone with which they recite the Qur’an,
recite the Labbaik.
It is wajib to recite once and Mustahib to recite
thrice. After this the conditions of Ihram
become enforced upon oneself. Maintaining
those and reciting the Labbaik reach Makkah.
The guides will stop their vehicles at the
respective buildings. On reaching one’s room,
hammer the nails into the walls and put on the
cloth brought along for partition and privacy.
Take rest and relax yourself , perform the
wudhu. Carry a handbag along with you which
has three compartments in it. Keep the Qur’an
in the first compartments, along with the
Munajaate
8
Maqbool/Hizbul Aazam, miswak,
Tasbeeh, and a book on supplications, In
the second, a book on the benefits of Hajj
and a guide to hajj. A Prayer mat which has
a plastic bottom and cloth on the top to be
kept in the third. Keep the footwear in a
Separate Bag. Lock the room and leave
the key in the counter, Then reciting the
Labbaik go towards the Baitullah from any
Door Before entering, remove the left
slipper first and then the right. Put them in
the Slipper bag brought along. Enter with
the right foot, Put forward the right foot
first in the Baitullah, reciting.
9
Bismillahi wassalatu wassalaamu ala
rasoolillahi (saw) Allahummagh firli
zunubi waf tahli abwaaba rahmatik.
Bismillahi dakhaltu wa’alaihi
tawakkaltu wanavaitu sunnatal
e’itikaaf.
The moment your first gaze lands upon the
Baitullah, recite.
10
Allahuakbar Allahuakbar Laillaha Illalahu
illalahu. Lailaaha illalahu. Allahumma Zid
Haazal baita tashreefou wa takreemou wa
ta’zeemou wa ma habbahAllahumma Zid
Man sharrafahu wakarramahu mimman
hajjahu avi'tamarahu tashreefou
watakreemou wata'zimou wabarra.
Allahumma antassalaam wa minkassalaam
haiyena bissalaam wa adkhilna darassalaam.
Supplicate to Allah with complete humility.
Reciting the Labbaik, go near the Ka'abah.
Stop the recital here. The men should take
the top sheet of the cloth from below the
armpit of the right hand and put it over the
left shoulder. Then observe the following
neeyat,
11
"Oallah! I will make Tawa’af around the
Baitullah. Please make it easy for me and
accept it. Reach near the Green Light in such a
way that you stand in front of Hajra-e-
Aswad and behind you the Green Light.
Men should raise both their hands till
ears and women should raise their hands
till shoulders and recite Allahu Akbar and
”and performing the Istelaam (pointing both the
palms from a distance and kissing the
Right hand palm without making any sound) at
the Hajre Aswad, (black stone) Recite the following Dua
12
Note: Istelaam is similar to kissing the
Hajra-e Aswad.
the men should observe the ramal in the
first three rounds by broadening their chests
rolling their shoulders and taking short steps
like wrestlers. If there is a lot of crowd,
then one can walk in a normal as one does.
Then. the remaining four circuits should be
done in a normal manner. There is no ramal
for women. If there is a lot of crowd, the
men can perform the Tawaaf with their
women from distance. Recite the third
Kalima during the Tawaaf. When seven rounds
are completed, at the eighth round observe
the istelaam.
Perform two rakaat of Wajibut Tawaaf
behind the Muqame Ibrahim or wherever a
13
Place is available. The women too should
observe the same. After the Salaat, drink
as much water of zam zam as one can.
Remember a Believer will drink to his
full . While a Hypocrite (Munafiq) cannot
do so. Recite the following Dua before
drinking the zam zam.
Allahumma inni asaluka ilman nafi’a wa
amalam mutaqabbala wa rizqan halaalan
taiyeba wa shifa’am min kulli daa.
It is mentioned in the Hadith that “Allah
will fulfill the intention of the person who
drinks the zamzam with a wish. Face the
ka’abah and supplicate one’s desire.
Then observe the istellam for the ninth
time and reach the hills of the Safa and
14
Marwah and perform the Sa’ee. The
method of performing the Sa’ee is that one
should first stand on the hill of the Safa and
make the intention as thus and recite.
“Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar
wa lilahil hamd” make the intention as:
Allahumma innee ureedus sa’ya baina safa
wal marwati sab a’ta ashwatin lillahi ta
aala fayassirhu lee wa taqabbalhu
minnee”.
(O Alah! I intend to perform the Sa’ee on
the Safa and the Marwah with 7 circuits
Please make it easy for me and accept it.”)
Turn slightly to the left, you will face the
Baitullah. Suplicate with at least 25
aayaths and the recite,
15
“Abda’ou bima bad’a Allahu bihi innas
safaa wal marwata min sha’a irillah:.
(I start from the very place where Allah
started. Verily, the Safa and Marwah are
from among the sings of Allah.)
Then walk from Safa towards Marwah. On
The way, one will come across the
(Melain-e-Akhzarain) green lights and
green Pillars Recite,
Rabbigh fir warham wa tajaavaz amma
ta’lam innaka antala’ azzulakram
Walk with a fast pace from that spot. If one
cannot remember the Dua then just say. “O
Allah! Forgive me, have mercy upon me.”
16
If women are accompanying, do not
make them to walk briskly along with
you but tell them to come slowly, and go
ahead, after clearing the area (Melain-e-
Akhzarain) green lights and . green
pillars, wait for them. Then taking them,
reach the Marwah. Turn slightly towards
right and supplicate (Du'a). Then walk
towards Safa as one had done from Safa.
The Seven (7)
Rounds Of "Sa' ee"
1. Safaa to Marwah
2. Marwah to Safaa
3. Safaa to Marwah
4. Marwah to Safaa
5. Safaa to Marwah
6. Marwah to Safaa
7. Safaa to Marwah
17
“Sa'ee" starts from Safaa and ends at
Marwah. It is Mustahib to observe 2 rakats
salaat after completing "Sa'ee".
after coming out of MarWah, the men
should shave their heads. Women, after
reaching their rooms should hold the hair
in front and cut one inch of hair from right
side or can get it done from their Mehrem.
Alhamdulillah, the Umrah is completed .
After taking bath men can wear the
stiched clothes. After Umrah till the start
of Hajj season, try to spend more time in
Tawaaf. , Similarly do the same after the
Hajj season. "Since 120 blessings
(Rahmaths). descends on Baithullah. "
60 upon those performing Tawaaf
40 upon those performing Salaat.
18
20 upon those gazing at Baithullah.
If one intends to do Umrah again, then
reach Masjid-e-Aisha & make intention
and do the Umrah again.
Three Farz of Haj:
1. To recite Labbaik after putting on
the ihram & invoking the Niyat of
the Haj
2. The Stay at Arafath (Waqoof e
Arafath).
3. The Tawaaf E Ziyarath.
Six wajibs of Haj:
“(Dum is incumbent on the Hajees on missing
even one of the below mentioned wajibs)”
1. The Stay at Muzdalifa (From Dawn
to Sunrise)
2. To strike all the three devils with
pebbles.
3. To offer the sacrifice. (Qurbani)
19
4. To shave the head (Halaq)
5. To perform the Saee.
6. The farewell Tawaaf (Tawaaf E Wida)
The Five Days Of Hajj
A practical guide in the light of
experiences:
Usually the guides start sending the Hujjaj
to Mina from the 7th night of Zil Haj, so it
is better to keep ready one's luggage in a
short and compact manner. For example:
l) One pair of stitched clothes.
2) An extra pair of Ihraam sheets.
3) An air pillow.
20
4) A coloured lungi.
5) Soap.
6) Scent. (Ittar)
7) Jug or Mug.
8) Bread and Jam.
9) Fruit.
10) Sattoo (sweetened barley meal).
11) Tomato and onions.
12) A little salt.
13) Cloths to screen.
14) Rope.
15) A plastic prayer carpet (Musallah).
16) A plastic or rexine mat to sit.
17) A bag for footwear.
21
Note The timings of the Namaaz
observed at Makkah in a notepad. the
pattern in which the timings is displayed
at harram Shariff is as follows
1. Zohar..................
2. Asar..................
3. Maghrib..................
4. Ishaa..................
5..Fajr..................
6. Ash Shurooq..................
Ash-Shurooq indicates Sunrise. Namaz-e-
Ishraaq should be performed 15-20 minutes
later than the time indicated.
Cut the finger and toe nails. Reduce the
moustache. Grow a beard. Shave the hairs
below the navel and the armpits. Take a
thorough Ghusul (obligatory bath) and put
on the Ihraam, but the women should first
cleanse themselves before the Ghusul. The
scarf which they tie on their head is not a
22
part of Ihraam, but only to cover their hair.
If the head cloth is opened, the Ihraarn does
not break, if the scarf is removed since they
should remove the scaf while performing
wudhu If "Wudhu" is not valid, then even
the "Namaaz" will not be valid. Also if the
"Tawaaf' is performed without the"Wudhu"
then a "dum" will be incumbent on the
person. It is excellent for men to observe
two Rakaths of namaaz in "Baitullah"
with the intention (neeyat) of Ihraam.
After the namaaz remove the cloth from
the head, observe the "neeyat"(intention)
of the Haj. The neeyat should be done as
follows:
Allahumma inni Uridul-HajjaFayassir-
huli Wa- Taqabbal-hu Minni
23
(O Allah! I intend to perform the Haj. Make
it easy for me and accept it.) It is excellent
for the women to observe the namaaz in their
dwellings(Rooms). If they are in a state of
monthly periods it is not permissible to
perform the namaaz, then just observe the
intention (neeyat) and then' say the “Labbaik,
Uttering the Labbaik is as follows
Labbaik Allaahumma Labbaik Labbaika Laa-
Shariika Laka Labbaik lnnal-Hamda Wanni'
mata Laka Wal- Mulk Laa-Shariika Lak
The men shall recite the Labbaik aloud and
the women silently, Then they should reach
mina with the guides transportations on that
night or the dawn of the 8th of Zilhaj.
24
1. The First Day Of Haj:
The Departure to Mina: From the dawn
of 8 Zilhaj one should observe the Zuhr,
Asr, the Magrib, Isha and the Fajr namaaz
of 9 Zilhaj, totaling five, at Mina. Either
pray the Qasr (traveller's) namaaz, or the.
regular full namaaz.
Note: If the stay is more than fifteen days
from the day of arrival at Makkah till the day
of leaving to mina, then the Hajee will be
considered as “Muqeem” (resident) and it
will be compulsory on hajee to observe the
namaaz in regular manner.* and if the stay is
less than fifteen days as “Musafir” (traveller)
& it is compulsory in the ‘Qasr” manner.**
*He will observe the full namaaz at Mina,
Arafat & muzdalifa.
25
** He will observe the Qasr.namaaz even
at Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifa.
Since the actual day of the Haj is the 9th of
Zilhaj and the presence is required on the
field of Arafat, Allah (swt) did not levy any
responsibility at Mina. Just perform every
namaaz with the congregation (Jamaat) at
its' prescribed time and be busy in either
learning or teaching the tenets (Arkaan) of
the Hajj or any other religious principle
and relax. There is no other ritual to be
observed.
2. The Second Day Of The Hajj
The Departure to Arafat: From Fajr
Salaat of 9th Zil Hajj to Asr Salaat of 13 th
Zil Haj, it is Wajib to recite Takbeer-e-
Tashreeq once soon after Farz Salaat. The
men shall recite aloud and the women
26
silently.:
Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, Laa Ilaha
Illalahu Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa
Lillahil Hamd. On the 9th of Zil Hajj,
after the fajr Namaaz, take along a plastic
mat, and a prayer mat, fruit and if possible
a packet of milk and sattu because it is
proved that the Prophet (saws) drank milk
& ate at Arafat, Leave the' rest of the things
in your tent. Come out reciting the
"Labbaik." Since the facilities of
conveyance to Mina will be on a shorter
scale as compared to the number of the
Hajees, await the-transportation in:
complete calmness and keep reciting the'
surah "Li-iilaafi Quraish'" till the end and,
27
also keep reciting even'the "Labbaik"
alongwith. When the bus arrives, get inside
without troubling anyone. If the metro
trains are available weight for it, but
getting on to the train is not an easy
task as there will be lakhs of hajees who
will try to get in to the train, so reaching
arafath walking is easy On the way to
Arafat, most people distribute cool drinks,
lassi and food etc., please avoid taking
them because today is the day one should
take from Allah and not from his creation.
And remember you are in the state of
Ihraam whose effects remain till death.
Once Hazrathh Ali (RA) saw someone
begging at Arafath, he said ‘So unlucky is
this person , as today is the day when one
should take from Allah, but this person is
taking from People In short, reach Arafat
before Zuhr and after completing the
28
abulution (wuzu) and other essential
needs, observe the Zuhr namaaz at it's
usual time and the Asr namaaz at it's
prescribed time.
,
The Acts To Be Observed After Zuhr:
Recite the fourth Kalima one hundred
times, and the "Qul-Huwallaahu Ahad''
with the Bismillh one hundred times. The
Daroode-Shareef one hundred times. In
the Darood-e-Ibraheem extend the words
"Waa'lainaa Maa'hum" at the end and also
recite the Istighfaar one hundred times.
Also read the Munajaat-e-Maqbool or the
Hizbul Aazam. Then eat some fruit and the
sattu. Even the guides generally issue food
tokens in some tents,it takes time to collect
the tokens, so it is better to eat what is with
you. Whosoever eats light, his devotion
will be tight and whosoever eats tight his
29
devotion will be light. Then prepare for the
Asr namaaz.
After the Asr namaaz, the men standing
outside their tents and the women sitting
inside their tents, shall involve themselves
either individually or together, in
supplications (dua). Supplicate fervently
and weep. Supplicate till the sunsets.
Generally people stop supplicating the
moment the buses start. It is wrong.
Continue to supplicate till the sunsets. Sing
the priase of Allah and recite the Darood at
the beginning of the dua and end with the
Darood-e-Shariff. Also keep reciting the
"Labbaik" thrice in between the
supplication. You have always performed
the Maghrib namaaz on the setting of the
sun, but today you will perform it at
Muzdalifa togehter on the time prescribed
for Isha.
30
How To Go To Muzdalifa?
As Muzdalifa is just three miles away, it is
easy to go there walking. It is generally
difficult to reach Muzdalifa by bus Metro
trains have been aranged for the
convenience but getting on to the train is
not a easy task as there are lakhs of Hajees
who try to get into the train. The journey by
metro train is just five minutes but you
mave have to spend four to five hours to get
on the train. So start walking by reciting
the "Labbaik."On the way, halt at intervals
to take rest and eat a little fruit. Start
walking again. On the way there are a lot of
facilities made available to relieve and
refresh oneself. So as you reach Mllzdalifa
refresh yourself and pertorm the abulution
(wuzu). Enter the place where you see the
violet coloured signboard written (Bidaya
Muzdalifa) "Start Muzdalifa."
31
Wherever you find a place, lay your mat
(plastic / resin) on the floor, call the azaan,
the Iqamah and perform the Maghrib
namaaz. Immediately after the farz of .
Maghrib namaz, observe the Isha farz
namaaz without saying any Iqamah for it.
After the Farz of Isha, complete the
namaaz following with the Maghrib Sunnah's
and then the Isha sunnah's ending with witr.
Then pick seventy pebbles the size of Kabul
chana. To keep awake during this blessed night,
it is more excellent than the "Shab-e-Qadr."
And this field of Arafath is an evidence of the
custom manner of Islam. "Keep awake, keep
awake in the shade of the sky,' Be asleep till the
Day in the shade of the earth."
If you feel tired, you can relax for some, time.
But one should definitely. get up for
"Tahajjud"· or sleep after observing
"Tahajjud." Caravaans of people will keep
32
arriving the whole night and the call of azaan
will keep resounding. Donot mistake these
calls of the azaan for the call of the Fajr
namaaz. But keep a watch on your timer and
referring the time of the Fajr written in
your notebook, perform the abulution and
give the call of the azaan at the prescribed
time mentioned for the Fajr. After the
azaan, observe the two rakahs of Sunnah,
and then after calling the Iqaamah,
perform the Farz of the Fajr with
congregation. After the Fajr namaaz, start
supplicaion (dua). The men standing and
the women sitting. The supplications,
which the Prophet (saws) had said at
Arafath were all accepted by Allah except
for one which was accepted at Muzdalifa.
33
Stop the supplications fifteen minutes
before the sunrise. After that start walking
towards Mina reciting the "Lab baik." You
will get transportation back, but the route
is also covered easily by walk. When you
reach Mina,it will be the 10th Morning of
Zil Haj
3. The Third Day Of Haj And
This Is A Very Important Day:
The 10th day of Zil Haj is very important and
one has to do three major things on this day
and generally these are done in a irregular
and improper manner. So do it in order. The
correct procedure to do the three major
things are:
1.To strike the big devil with the pebbles
first.
2. To offer the Sacrifice.
34
3. To shave the head.
Generally, during the whole year, we observe
the night first and then the day, but in the five
days of the Haj, the day is observed first and
then the night. That is why the Ramii (the
striking with pebbles) is observed from the
rising of the sun, till the 11th of the Zil
Haj's dawn that is almost (23) twenty three
hours. So decide to offer the sacrifice at the
11th of Zil Haj and on the 10th of Zil Haj
stay the whole day at Mina. there are a lot
of facilities at jamraath and one can
perform rami (striking with pebbles) after
asar also, but it is better after performming
the isha namaz and finishing dinner, pick
up ten pebbles and reciting the Labbaik,
proceed towards Jamraat. It is written in
,the books that to observe Rami after
Maghrib is Makrooh. But, in the present
condition, it is not so, because before
35
Maghrib there will be a huge crowd
gathered thereby creating lot of difficulties
and also there is the fear of loss of life.
Since It is obligatory (farz) to protect one's
life, so there is no necessity for the Ramii
to be Makrooh after Maghrib. When' you
proceed towards Jamraat, you will first come
across the small devil, proceed ahead. then
you will come across the medium devil,
proceed ahead. Then you come across the big
devil. When you reach the big devil, stand in
such a way that the right shoulder is towards
Mina and the left shoulder towards Makkah.
The place we are heading is towards Makkah
only. Stop reciting the "Labbaik", the
moment you pickup the pebbles .
The Method of Striking 'With
The' Pebbles:
Hold the pebble between the forefinger
and the thumb and saying
36
Bismillaahi Allaahu Akbar Raghmal-Lish
- Shaitani Wa-Rizal-Lir-Rahmaan
throw the pebble in such a way that it lands
in the boundary, irrespective of its striking
the pillar or missing it. If the pebble strikes
the pillar and rebounds out of the
boundary, do not try to pick it up Strike
with the pebbles seven times separately
one after the other. If all the pebbles are
thrown at once, it will be considered as a
one time strike only. After observing the
Rami, come back to your resting place
without any supplications (dua). Observe
the "Tahajjud" and the 'Fajr' offer the
sacrifice after "Fajr."
37
Sacrifice:
Never take the token for sacrifice from the
bank because the sacrifice continues for
many months, perform the sacrifice by
yourself. The arrangement of the slaughter
house by the Government is very good.
Halaq:
It means the shaving of the head of men in
such a way that no hair remains. For the
women, they should divide their hair in
three parts. Then cut a little more than an
inch of . the hair on the right side, then cut
the same size for the hair on the left side
and finally the same that-is a little more
than an inch for the hair on the back by
bringing them in the front. Then take the
38
Ghusul (obligatory bath). Now the men
can, after taking the Ghusul, wear the
stitched clothes. There is no more binding
of the Ihraam except to restrain from the
wife.
4. The Fourth Day Of The Haj:
On the 11th Zil Haj, perform the Zuhr, Asr
and Maghrib at Mina. After the Maghrib
namaaz; pickup thirty (30) pebbles and
proceed towards jamraat. First strike the
smaller devil with seven (7) pebbles and
then move towards left and facing the
Ka'aba, supplicate (dua). then move
towards the medium devil and strike him
too with seven (7) pebbles. here also move
a bit towards the left side and supplicate
facing the Ka' aba. Then again proceed
forward and striking the big devil with
seven (7) pebbles, move ahead without
39
supplicating. Here you will get
transportation SAPTCO (Saudi Arabian
Public Transport Company) Buses to go to
Makkah, with the aid of these
transportations go to Makkah for the
"Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath." Busses stop at BAB-
E-ABDUL AZEEZ-GATE NO. 1 “ Alight
and use the washroom and toilets Donot go
to your rooms even if your accommodation
is near by haram sharieff arragement for
washrooms toilets are excellent. After
refreshing, perform the Isha namaaz
outside Haram. There are hotels at
misfalah eat something. remove first the
left footwear and then the right footwear
and put them in the bag brought along for
footwear Enter the Haram Sharieff in the
sunnath way. When the gaze falls on
"Baitullah" supplicate. (Du' a) Then
going near "Baitullah", perform
40
the "Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath."
The "Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath"
Face the Baitullah and stand near the
coloured strip of the "Hajr-e-Aswad"
(Black Stone), in such a way that the
coloured strip is on the right side. Then say
the "neeyat" (intention) for the Tawaaf.
The "Neeyat" is
Allaahumma Inni Uridu Tawaafa
BaitikalHaraam Saba'ta
Ashwaatin -lillaahi Ta'alaa Fayassirhu-Li
Wa- Taqabbal-hu Minni
(O Allah! I intend to perform the
"Tawaaf' with seven (7) rounds, make it
easy for me and accept it).
41
Then observe the Istelaam by standing
near the green light and then start the
"Tawaaf." the men will perform the first
three rounds of tawaaf by observing ramal
Do the balance four Without observing the
"Ramal." After completing the Tawaaf,
perform two (2) Rakahs' of "wajibut
tawaaf' near “Maqaam e-Ibraheem" or
wherever you find a place. after the
namaaz drink as much as "Zam Zam" as
you can. Coming from there go towards the
"Hajar-e-Aswad" and observe the
"Istelaam." This will be the ninth time of
Istelaam. Then go towards the hill of Sa fa
and recite Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar
Allahu Akbar Wa lilla hil hamd. then start
the "Saee."
42
"Sa'ee"
To perform the "Sa' ee", stand on the hill of
"Safaa" and observe "Neeyat." The
"Neeyat" is
Allaahuma lnni Uridus-Saa'ya Bainas-
Safaa Wal-Marwata Saba'ta Ashwaatin
lillaahi Ta'alaaFayassirhu-Li Wa-
Taqabbalhu Minni .
(O Allah! 1 intend to perform the "Saee" of
Safaa and Marwaa with seven rounds.
Make it easy for me and accept it.) If you
turn slightly towards the left, you will face
the Ka'aba, supplicate with at least a
minimum of twenty five (25) ayaths and
say
43
Abdau Bimaa Bada-Allaahu Innas-Safaa
WalMarwata Min-Shaa' airillah
(I shall start from where Allah began)
Verily the "Safa" and "Marwaa" both are
from the signs of Allah. Now move
towards "Marwaa" from "Safa". On the
way you will find "Melain-e-Akhzarain"
(green lights) recite
Rabbighfir Warham Watajaawaz Amma
Taa'lam Innaka Antal-Aa'zzul-Akram
move with haste. If the above verse cannot
be remembered, say, "O Allah! Forgive me
and have mercy on me. "lf women are
44
accompanying, do not fasten them but ask
them to follow slowly, and after you cross
the “Melain-e-Akhzarain", wait for them
to reach you. Then taking them along reach
"Marwah". there turn slightly towards the
right and supplicate (Dua).then proceed
back, towards "Safaa" from "Marwah" the
same way which you came from "Safaa"
The Seven (7)
Rounds Of "Sa' ee"
1. Safaa to Marwah
2. Marwah to Safaa
3. Safaa to Marwah
4. Marwah to Safaa
5. Safaa to Marwah
6. Marwah to Safaa
7. Safaa to Marwah
45
In this manner, the "Saee" start from Safaa
and ends at Marwah. Perform two rakah of
Namaaz after finishing the "Saee". Then
proceed to Mina by vehicle.
5. The Fifth Day Of Hajj:
On the 12th of Zil Haj stay at Mina, there is
only the act of the three Jamraats to be
attended to, and nothing else. On this day
the Hajee's show a Jot of hastiness
especially the women. When the guides
buses are seen, to save ten (10) riyals, they
forget to perform the Rami, and appointing
others to perform the Rami on their behalf,
leave for Makkah. This is incorect.
Remember, the Ramii of all the three days
is Waajib and leaving a Wajib becomes
incumbent to give the "Dum." One can
appoint a person to do the Rami on his, or
her behalf only if he is disabled or in a
46
completely bad condition .
Anyway, stay the whole day at Mina
and observe all the namaaz at their
proper time. Be involved in solitary
devotions till maghrib. After
maghrib,pack your luggage and leave
to perform the "Ramii" along with the'
luggage. Stop at the little devil, place
your. luggage at nearby spot, and leaving
somebody to take care of your
belongings, go and strike the pebbles to
the devil one by one. After finishing,
come to the spot where your luggage is
kept and supplicate from there. (Du'a)
Then from there proceed to the medium
devil, place the luggage nearby and strike
him with the pebbles one by one, and
coming to the spot where you kept your
luggage, supplicate. (Du'a).
47
Then go towards the big devil and
placing your luggage strike him with
the pebbles one after another, and
without supplicating, pickup your
luggage, go out and reach Makkah by
vehicle. You can reach Makkah tilI the
dawn of 12th Zil haj. The mentioning in
some books that., one should spend the
12th maghrib at Mina and to strike the
devils on the 13th also is not correct but
when one fails to leave Mina by the 12th
dawn then the Rammi of the 13th becomes
Wajib. The moment we strike the" big
devil, the boundary of Mina comes to an
end as though we have come out of Mina.
So the 13th "Ramii" does not arrive in
question at all. Prophet Mohammed
S.A.W and Sahaba (Rz) performed rami
on 13th zil Haj and even great saints have
performed rami on 13th zil haj. All
Scholarly saints
48
even today perform rami on 13th zil haj
hence my request to all haji’s is to follow
same Allah be praised, all the acts of Haj
have come to an end and only the "Tawaaf'
and “Wida" (farewell) were pending,
which becomes"Wajib" now. You can do
this on the return from Makkah.
Note: Women should do one more extra
"Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath" when they perform
them because there is a possibility that on
the way back, they might be in their
periodic cycle and where they may stand to
lose, so they gain with this extra addition.
49
The Ideal Time To Strike' With
The Pebbles:
1) The first day i.e. 10th of Zil Haj after
the Isha namaaz (after finishing
dinner) till dawn.
2) The second day i.e. the 11 th ofZil Haj
after Maghrib till dawn.
3) The third day i.e. the 12th ofZil Haj
after Maghri b till dawn.
Ideal Time for Sacrifice
On 11 th Zilhaj morning.
50
The Ideal Time For
"Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath" :
1) On the llth of Zil haj, after the Maghrib
nam, aaz, . it is better to perform the
"Tawaaf-e-Ziyarath", but ,only after
completing the "Rami",
We pray to Allah that He accept our
journey to the Harmain Shareifain, and
make it blessed return.
“Farewell Farewell O helpers of Allah”,
you are in the care of Allah, We shall
remember you every time do remember
us."
51
Ziyarat e Madinah
Recite as many a Darood as possible while
traveling towards Madinah. If one can
remember any "Naat/Ash'aar", they too
can be hummed. The enthusiasm should
increase once the walls of the city are
sighted. Recite the following prayer,'
“Allahumma Baariklanaa feehaa warzuqna
janaaha wa habbibna ilaa ahlihaa wa

complete humility and deep respect.
Remove the footwear as you did in
Baitullah. recite the following prayer,

e'itikaaf
Observe two rakaat of Tahiyyatul Masjid
and supplicate after observing two rakaat
of Salaatus Shukr. Then going alongside
the wall facing the "Qiblah'· stand in front.
facing the Roza-E-Aqdas with complete
humbleness and dignity, recite
54
55
If possible recite the above darood times at
least 70 times and then say.
"O Prophet of Allah! Many have sent their
greetings to you (saws). Please accept
56
them. They are in hope of your
intercession on their behalf'. Also say, "O
my Master! I have left many of your
devotees behind who await in earnest of
your call day and night".
Then move three feet to the right where the
beloved companion of the cave, Hazrath
Abu Bakr (rz) rests and say,
“Assalaamu alaika ya sayidina Aba
bakrinisiddique Assalaamu alalika
57
ya khaleefatha Rasoolil lah. Assalaamu
alaika ya sahiba Rasoolil lahi fil ghaari
warahmathullahi wabarakatuhu.
Then one foot ahead rests Hazrath Umar
(rz) Say,
“Assalaamu alaika ya umar bin khattab.
Assalaamu alaika ya Ameerulmumineen.
Assalaamu alaika ya izzal islaami wal
muslimeen Assalaamu alaika ya abal
fuqura’i waz zu’afa’i wal arami wal
yataami wa rahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.
Go to the Jannatul Baqi immediately after
58
the Fajr or Asr salaat. On entering the right
side you will find the resting place of
Hazrathh Fatima (rz),), Hazrathh Abbas
(rz), Hazrathh Hasan (rz), Hazrathh Zainul
Abideen (rz),and the blessed head of
Hazrathh Hussain (rz) is buried here.
A bit ahead one will come across the three
daughters of the Prophet (saws) Hazrath
Zainab (rz), Hazrath Ruqaiyya (rz),
Hazrath Umme Kulsum (rz), then the
honorable wives of the Prophet (saws)
Hazrath Ayesha (rz), Hazrath Saudah (rz),
Hazrath Zainab binte Jahash (rz), Hazrath
Zainab binte Quza'imah, Hazrath Umme
salmah (rz), Hazrath Hafsah (rz), Hazrath
Umme Habibah (rz), Hazrath Juwariya
(rz).
Alongside are Hazrath Abdullah ibn Jaffer
(rz), Hazrath Akhil ibn Abu Talib (rz).'A
59
little ahead one will find th grave of the
blessed son of the Prophet (saws) Hazrath
lbraheem (rz). On moving forward one will
find the resting place of Hazrath Usmane
ghani (rz): His is the most elevated place
among among all resting at Jannatul
Baqi. On the left are the graves of Hazra
Halima Sa'adiya (rz), and on the righ
Hazrath Abu Sa'eed Qudri(rz),
Hazrath 'Fatima , the mother of Hazrath
Ali (rz) and the aunts of the Prophet (saws)
Hazrath Safiyya (rz), Hazrath Aatika (rz)
Hazrath Ummul Fazl (rz) (wife of
Hazrath Abbas (rz). It is preferable to visit
the Jannat-ul-Baqi after the Fajr prayers
especially on Saturday. But if one wants
to go on other days, one can do so. To
60
observe two rakaat of Nafl in the Masjid e
Quba will earn a Sawaab of one Umrah.
Then visit the plain of Uhud. One can
see, the hill of Uhud there. The Prophet
(saws) has said, "the hill of Uhud holds
me dear and it too is dear to me." There
is a boundary located in Uhud where lie
the marty rs of Uhud including Hazrath
Syedina Hamzah (rz), Hazrath Mas'aab
(rz) ibn Umar (rz), Hazrath Abdullah ibn
Jahash (rz) which are in the forefront.
Standing 'near their graves recite the
“Surah Iqlaas” thrice and supplicate for
their elevation.
Then visit the Masjid e Qiblatain and
observe 2 rakaat of Tahiyatul Masjid. Then
there a few mosques where the battle of
61
Ahzab took place. Observe a few nafl
salaat there also.
Most of our time sho'uld be spent in
Masjid e Nabuwwi and forty salaat should
be accomplished behind the Imaam 'with
the “Takbeer-e-Oola”.
Perform as many as sunnah and Nafl as
possible. When ever possible one should
convey the Salaatus salaam with complete
humility and dignity. One should also try
to complete one Qur'an at least, and recite a
lot of Darood.
In the Masjid e Nabawi, there is a blessed
spot known as the "Riyazul jannah" of
which the Prophet (saws) has said,
62
"In between my house and the pulpit there
is spot which is a part of the Paradise"
Jurisprudents have said that if any person
eats a date in that spot and says that he ate a
date in Paradise, he would: be saying the
truth: It is marked with a white carpet laid
over it and the pillars are of white marble.
One should try utmost to perform a sa1aat
in the "Riyazul Jannah", without
disturbing Others.
Nearby are the Ustwaane Ayesha, Ustwaan
e Abu Lubaaba, Ustwaan e sareer,Ustwaan
e sareer, Ustwaan e Wafood. One should
also try here too observe two rakaat of the
Nafl prayers without troubling anyone.
63
Platform of Ahle Suffa
There is also the platform of the "Suffa".
One should try to observe two rakat of
Nafl Salaat there too, and also engross
oneself in the recital of the Qur'an as much
as possible. When it is time to return, go to
the "Roza-e-Athar" and bid farewell.
Try to complete atleast One Quraan during
the stay at Madinah.
May Allah complete the journey and
accept it. May Allah make it easy and guide
us on every step. May Allah illuminate and
bless the entire world with the radiance of
the Hajj and the same radiance do continue
to stay with us till our last breath. Aameen.
