Description
In this class students will learn to design and build Simple Websites using text editors and dedicated
software. Students will learn the basics of website design and programming using HTML5 and CSS3.
They will explore the ways to design a simple site and integrate different content into the HTML
pages. Part of the course will be on graphical design as a first step in producing website content
(images, logos, banners …). We will then explore other solution available for website design and
hosting solutions. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to create, manage
and host a basic HTML website.
The student will spend time working with HTML to produce browsing ready websites fully functional
and use web browsers to display webpage contents and styles. Will also be used during this course
some of the fundamental tools for producing images and programming websites.
Course objectives
This course will prepare students to :
Understand the internet, how it is organized and how it functions.
Design, Creating and Processing images and graphics
Create simple webpages
Incorporate divers content into webpages
Create simple navigation-ready websites
Apply styles to website and pages
Host websites on a webserver
In general, this course would contribute and prepare participants to act as entry level web design
professional.
Main Methods
The course is held in an interactive environment with one three-hour session per week.
All sessions are held in the laboratory.
