Procedure for Applying T-88 Adhesive on PVC-Coated

Fence Mesh
This procedure provides detailed steps for safely and effectively
applying T-88 adhesive to repair PVC-coated fence mesh. Proper
preparation, application, and post-application procedures are outlined to
ensure durability and adherence to safety standards.

1. Preparation and Safety Measures

1.1 Work Area
 Ventilation: Set up the workspace in a well-ventilated area, ideally
outdoors or in a space with a high-capacity exhaust system. Avoid
confined spaces to minimize vapor accumulation.
 Ignition Sources: Ensure there are no open flames, sparks, or hot
surfaces nearby, as T-88 adhesive is highly flammable (Flash Point:
-9 °C). Keep a fire extinguisher within reach.

1.2 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 Respiratory Protection: Use a respirator with an A-rated filter to
protect against organic vapors if adequate ventilation is not
achievable.
 Hand Protection: Wear solvent-resistant gloves made of butyl
rubber or nitrile (minimum thickness: 0.12 mm).

 Eye Protection: Wear tightly sealed safety goggles to protect

against splashes, as T-88 adhesive can cause serious eye irritation
(H319).

 Clothing: Use solvent-resistant protective clothing to avoid skin

contact with the adhesive.
1.3 Materials and Tools
 Adhesive: T-88 adhesive in its original container.

 Applicator: Brush or small spatula for controlled application.

 Cleaning Supplies: Clean, lint-free cloths and a mild solvent for

surface preparation, if needed.
2. Surface Preparation
2.1 Clean the Damaged Area
 Surface Cleaning: Use a dry cloth to remove any dirt, dust, or
loose particles from the damaged section of the PVC-coated mesh.
 Solvent Cleaning (If Needed): If contaminants like oils or grease
are present, lightly dampen the cloth with a compatible mild
solvent to clean the area. Allow the area to dry completely before
proceeding with adhesive application.
2.2 Ventilation Check (if required)
 Airflow Verification: Double-check that there is adequate airflow
to prevent the accumulation of vapors, which may lead to
symptoms like dizziness or drowsiness (H336).

3. Application of T-88 Adhesive

3.1 Open Container Carefully
 Minimize Vapor Release: Slowly open the adhesive container to
avoid releasing excess vapor. Position yourself upwind if working
outdoors.
3.2 Apply Adhesive
 Even Application: Use the applicator to apply a thin, uniform layer
of T-88 adhesive to the damaged area of the mesh, covering both
the PVC coating and any exposed underlying material to ensure a
strong bond.
 Avoid Excessive Adhesive: Apply only enough adhesive to
achieve a solid bond, as overuse can lead to unwanted buildup or
dripping.
3.3 Allow for Initial Tack
 Tack Time: Allow the adhesive to air-dry for 1–2 minutes until it
becomes tacky. Tack time may vary based on environmental
conditions such as temperature and humidity.
3.4 Bonding the Mesh
 Press and Hold: If bonding two parts of the mesh or overlapping
PVC-coated sections, press the glued surfaces together firmly once
the adhesive becomes tacky. Hold for several seconds to secure the
initial bond.
3.5 Drying Time
 Full Cure: Allow the adhesive to cure completely as per the
manufacturer's recommendations. Drying time will vary based on
ambient temperature and humidity.

4. Post-Application Cleaning
4.1 Dispose of Excess Adhesive
 Seal and Store: Reseal any remaining T-88 adhesive in its
container and store in a cool, dry location, as per SDS storage
guidelines.
4.2 Clean Equipment
 Tool Cleaning: Clean applicators and any tools used with a
compatible solvent immediately after application to prevent
adhesive residue buildup.
5. Disposal and Environmental Considerations
Waste Disposal
 Adhesive Waste: Dispose of any excess adhesive, used cloths, or
contaminated materials following local hazardous waste disposal
regulations. Do not dispose of adhesive in household trash or
sewage systems, per Section 13 of the SDS.
Environmental Precautions
 Prevent Runoff: Ensure that any runoff or spilled adhesive does
not reach soil or water systems, as the undiluted adhesive can be
harmful to the environment.

6. Emergency and First Aid Procedures

In Case of Inhalation
 Fresh Air: Move to a well-ventilated area if symptoms like
dizziness or drowsiness occur. Seek medical advice if symptoms
persist.
Skin Contact
 Wash Area: If adhesive contacts the skin, wash thoroughly with
soap and water. Seek medical advice if irritation persists.
Eye Contact
 Rinse Eyes: In case of contact with eyes, rinse cautiously with
water for several minutes. Consult a doctor if irritation continues.
Ingestion
 Rinse Mouth: If ingested, rinse the mouth and seek medical
attention if symptoms develop.

Important Warnings
 Flammability: T-88 adhesive is highly flammable. Do not use near
ignition sources, and store away from open flames (Flash Point: -9
°C).
 Health Hazards: Prolonged inhalation may cause dizziness or
drowsiness; avoid breathing vapors and ensure continuous
ventilation.
 Storage: Store the adhesive in a tightly sealed container in a cool,
dry, and well-ventilated area.

Following these detailed steps ensures safety and maximizes the

effectiveness of T-88 adhesive in repairing PVC-coated fence mesh.
Please adhere to all guidelines and SDS safety measures when handling
the adhesive.
