Using divisibility rules for 2, 5 and 10 to find
the common factors of numbers.
I. Introduction:
In this module, you will learn how to use divisibility rules of
2, 5, and 10 to find the common factors of the numbers. There
are examples, discussion and varied activities to help you master
the lesson.
II. Objective:
Use divisibility rules for 2, 5 and 10 to find the common
factors of numbers.

III. Vocabulary List:
In this module, you will be guided with the following words:
COMMON FACTOR- a factor that 2 or more numbers have in
common.
DIVISIBLE - means dividing a number without any remainder.
DIVISIBILITY RULES- are set of general rules that are often
used to determine whether or not a number is evenly divisible by
another number.
FACTOR - is any of the numbers used in multiplication to form a
product.

Dan has 30 blue marbles and 10 white ones. If he wants
to place them in identical groups without any marbles left
over, what are the common factors of the number of marbles?
How can you get the common factors of 30 and 10?

When we have a larger number that we are factoring,
we need to use divisibility rules to help us find the factors of
that numbers.
Divisibility rules looks at different numbers in a given
number. Depending on the numbers of combinations of
numbers, we can determine if a number is divisible by 2, 5 or
10. This can help us to identify those factors of a number.
Here is a chart that shows the divisibility rules for 2, 5 and 10
Divisible Method of testing the
by numbers
The ones digit is even
2 number
5 The last digit either 0 or 5
10 The last digit is 0
Is 30 divisible by 2? By 5? By 10?
How about 15? Is it divisible by 2? By 5? By 10?
Write all the factors using listing method of 30 and 15.
30 : 1 , 2, 3, 5 , 6, 10,15,30
10-: 1 , 2, 5 , 10
Common Factors: 1, 2, 5, 10
