Key
1 Let’s sing
10 mins.
This stage is to introduce the theme of the lesson. Ask the students to sit in a circle, show
them the Christmas scene, and ask what they can see. Teach the word Christmas and then
practise the pronunciation. Then add the word merry and practise them together. Then
practise the whole sentence we wish you a merry Christmas. Then play the song so the
students can hear the tune. Then ask the students to stand up and hold hands. Tell them
they will sing along and when they hear the word wish, they raise their hands in the air.
Listening
Play the song and encourage the students to sing along.
2 Let’s practise
10 mins.
This stage is to introduce some Christmas vocabulary. Ask the students to sit back in the circle
and show them the Christmas scene again. Point to the snowman and ask if the students
know what it is. Teach the word. Use checking questions to check the meaning. Practise
pronunciation.
Do the same for Santa, Christmas tree, and the reindeer. Then introduce actions for each
word. Practise each one with the students. You can play a quick game to reinforce the words.
Ask them to stand up and when they hear the word, they have to do the action. If they get it
wrong, they sit down. Say the words in random order, you can speed up the words as the
game progresses. The last student standing is the winner.
Santa Claus – pretend to carry a sack
Snowman – make a carrot nose with your hand
