Pentadur HB Zinc Primer 8537

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Pentadur HB Zinc 8537 is a two component polyamide cured Epoxy Primer with high loading of metallic
super fine Zinc which imparts Cathodic protection to base metal and also prevents under film creeping
corrosion. This is a fast drying type primer which help early recoatability. Product contains 80% Zinc in
dry film and confirms to SSPC-Paint 20 Type-II-level-II Organic Zinc Rich Primer, Zinc Dust
confirming to ASTM D-520 Type II

INTENDED USES As a long life primer on steel subjected to moderately to severely corrosive marine and industrial
environment, eg. Sluice gates, crest gates, penstocks, floating roofs of tanks, bunk houses, structural steel
in docks, refineries, thermal power station. Also approved for defence use

Where a cosmetically acceptable topcoat is required, the following products are recommended.
Pentadur MIO, Pentadur Epoxy Topcoat, Pentathane Topcoats

SURFACE PREPARATION
The performance of this product will depend upon the degree of surface preparation. The surface to be
coated must be clean, dry and free from contamination. Prior to paint application all surfaces should be
assessed and treated in accordance with ISO 8504:1992. Accumulated dirt and soluble salts must be
removed.

Abrasive Blast Cleaning
For atmospheric exposure performance will be achieved when Pentadure HB Zinc Primer 8537 is
applied to surfaces prepared to a minimum of Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP 10. Surface defects
revealed by the blast cleaning process, should be ground, filled or treated in the appropriate manner. A
surface profile of 50-65 microns (2- 3 mils) is recommended.

This product will perform best when applied on Surface preparation to SA-3 ( ISO-8501) or NACE 1 or
SSPC -SP-5 .

APPLICATION Mixing Material is supplied in two containers as a unit. Always mix a complete unit
in the proportions supplied. Once the unit has been mixed it must be used
within the working pot life specified.
(1) Agitate Base (Part A) with a power agitator.
(2) Combine entire contents of Curing Agent (Part B)
with Base (Part A) and mix thoroughly with power agitator

Clean Up Clean up all equipment immediately after use with Thinner 145 . It is good working
practice to periodically flush out spray equipment during the course of the working
day. Frequency of cleaning will depend upon amount sprayed, temperature and
elapsed time, including any delays. All surplus
materials and empty containers should be diagnosed of in accordance with
appropriate regional regulations / legislation.

All work involving the application and use of this product should be performed in compliance with all
relevant national, Health, Safety and Environmental standards and regulations.

In the event welding or flame cutting is performed on metal coated with this product, dust and fumes will
be emitted which will require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adequate local
exhaust ventilation.
