IOT BASED SMART HELMET SYSTEM FOR ACCIDENT PREVENTION
ABSTRACT:
Without a helmet, the impact of being involved in a crash at a high speed is
exceedingly dangerous and could be fatal. Wearing a helmet will lessen the
impact's shock and could save a life. There are various nations that have laws
requiring motorcycle riders to wear helmets while operating their vehicles. An
Arduino Uno microcontroller might be used to run the entire system. Only until the
rider has fastened his or her helmet can the motor start. Alcohol detection is
another prerequisite for the engine to start. There are numerous reports of drunk
driving cases nowadays.Even if someone is a suspect, the cops will simply take
bribes because they can't focus on every vehicle. Numerous accidents happen as a
result of not wearing a helmet. The engine stops if even a small amount of alcohol
is detected, which happens frequently. In the future system we envision, wearing a
helmet is required. Police work can help us save human lives, and if alcohol is
found, the engine is shut off.. This solution will be more useful as the necessity of
road safety increases. The distance between the helmet and adjacent vehicles or
objects can be measured using infrared sensors.
On the helmet, IR sensors can be positioned strategically to identify anything that
could obstruct the rider's route. An alcohol sensor can be made to identify alcohol
through skin perspiration or breath, indicating to the rider whether or not they are
intoxicated.Mems sensors are capable of detecting sudden braking, abrupt direction
changes, severe damage to the helmet, and activation of the helmet's or the
motorcycle's safety features. The rider's whereabouts can be tracked in real time
thanks to GPS. The position of the rider can be tracked by sending this data to a
centralized system or a linked smartphone.

EXISTING SYSTEM
There is no implementation of smart helmet in the real-time riders but some
research projects proposed the concept of the same with Bluetooth technologies
were Bluetooth have several disadvantages of connectivity and power supply.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
Essentially, the system comprises of two key components. The two components
Helmet unit , Bike unit:
A flash-type microcontroller that has already been configured to control the bike's
ignition according to the decoded value of the signal from the smart helmet serves
as the microcontroller. It has an alcohol sensor and a helmet detection key.with an
alcohol sensor and a helmet detection key. The helmet detection key is used to
determine if the rider is wearing a helmet or not, and the alcohol sensor can detect
the amount of alcohol the rider has consumed. The sensors and the key were
connected to an encoder, which allowed the values from the key and the alcohol
sensor to be delivered as an encoded signal from the smart helmet. The bike circuit
then decodes this signal to determine whether or not to enable the individual to
start the bike.then checks the rider's safety. If the rider is found to be not wearing a
helmet or appears inebriated, the controller does not instruct the relay to turn on the
ignition. In the alternative, the controller prompts the rider to enter the password
using the keypad for rider authentication, and if the authentication is successful,
the relay is then permitted to turn on the ignition. If the rider enters the password
incorrectly, the bike notifies the user by SMS via the GSM module.
