WEATHER FORECAST FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW 17TH OCTOBER, 2024
SYNOPSIS AND INFERENCE:
Expect rainy weather conditions to weaken by tomorrow over the southern and central
areas, with sunny conditions over more areas likely from Friday, while locally heavy rain is
still expected over the north, where the rain-bearing system will remain confined.
WARNING: Mwera winds, with speeds of around 40 km/h, are expected to blow over Lake
Malawi and other water bodies, causing high water waves of approximately 1.5 m. The
Mwera winds are forecast to start weakening tomorrow, 17th October 2024.
SHIRE VALLEY (areas along Shire River and around Lake Chiuta and Chilwa)
Windy and cloudy with isolated rain drizzle tonight and tomorrow morning. Windy and cloudy
conditions with isolated showers tomorrow afternoon.
Forecast Temperatures: Ngabu Min.19°C and Max.28°C
SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS (Shire highlands, Kirk Range up to Dedza)
Expect windy, cloudy and cold conditions associated with rain drizzle and patches of fog tonight
and tomorrow morning. Expect windy and cloudy conditions with localised rain drizzle tomorrow
afternoon.
Forecast Temperatures: Blantyre Min.13°C and Max.22°C
CENTRAL AREAS (Lilongwe, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Dowa, Kasungu and part of Mzimba District)
Windy, cloudy and cool with some isolated rain drizzle tonight and tomorrow morning. Expect
windy and cloudy conditions with isolated showers tomorrow afternoon.
Forecast Temperatures: Lilongwe Min.16°C and Max.25°C
LAKESHORE AREAS (Mangochi, Salima, Nkhotakota, Nkhata Bay, Likoma, Karonga)
Windy and cloudy conditions with thunderstorms coupled with locally heavy rain mainly
over Karonga, Nkhatabay and parts of Nkhotakota tonight and tomorrow morning. Windy and
cloudy with isolated thunderstorms coupled with locally heavy rain tomorrow afternoon.
Forecast Temperatures: Mangochi Min. 20°C and Max.28°C
NORTHERN AREAS (all areas in the north except lakeshore)
Cloudy and cool with rain drizzle and fog patches mainly over Mzuzu tonight and tomorrow
morning. Cloudy weather associated with rain mainly over Mzuzu tomorrow afternoon.
Forecast Temperatures: Mzuzu Min. 16°C and Max.21°C
