OFF/V (off/volume) control Controls application of primary power to the entire

system and varies the audio gain.

OFF /CLAR (off/ clarifier) control ln clarifier OFF position, the clarifier is disabled.
Rotating the control out of the OFF position varies
the received frequency :1:100 Hz on USB, LSB, and
TEL modes. The clarifier is disabled on transmit.

S/TST (squelch/test) control Rotating the control varies the squelch threshold. ln
TST position, the squelch is disabled.

CHAN/FREQ (channel/frequency) switch Controls method of frequency selection.

PGM (program) button Used when programming the user channels.

PULL MODE/100 kHz control Pushed in, this control selects the 100-kHz digit in the
frequency display when the FREQ/CHAN switch is in
the FREQ position. lt has no function in the CHAN
position.

Pulled out, this control is used to select the transmit

and receive mode of operation for the HF-230 system.
The modes available depend on whether the system is
operating with a discrete frequency selected, one of
1 the preprogrammed lTU channels selected, or one of
the 40 user programmable channels selected.

PULL 100/1 kHz control ln FREQ, and with the knob pushed in, this control
changes the 1-kHz digit in the frequency display.
With the knob pulled out, this control changes the
100-Hz digit in the display.

1 MHz control This control, mounted concentrically with the PULL

MODE/100 kHz control, changes the 1-MHz digit in
the FREQ mode and the lOO's and lOOO's digits in the
CHAN mode.

10 kHz control This control, mounted concentrically with the 100 Hz/
1 kHz control, changes the 10-kHz digit in the FREQ
mode and the l's and lO's digits in the CHAN mode.

CHAN (channel) display Displays selected channel number in the CHAN mode,
or dashes (----) in the FREQ mode.

MODE display Displays operating mode of the HF-230 system (USB,

LSB, AM TEL SUP CAR, or TEL PLT CAR).

FREQ KHZ display Displays operating frequency and receive (R) and
transmit (T) annunciators. Operating frequency is
displayed in both CHAN and FREQ modes.
