The measuring variable and the measured values are displayed as clear text. If
the text of the measured variable has too many characters and cannot be dis-
played as a whole, a running text is displayed.
The symbol indicates that there is a new log entry present that has not
yet been viewed and acknowledged. If this button is operated, the display
jumps directly to the log entry.
The button allows to jump from the basic display to the main menu.
2 Main menu
The main menu is split up in seven sub-groups.
Select the sub-group with the buttons and invoke the selected sub-
menu with the button. Two of the sub-groups, "Test" and "System set-
tings", can be invoked only with the relative password. The button quits
the menu.

Attention!
For safety it is important to change this password after com-
missioning the system.
The standard password set by the manufacturer for menu level 1 is "1". This
prevents accidental incorrect operation. The customer is advised to change this
password as soon as possible.

When you change over to the characteristic "battery test", the device will
immediately perform a battery test using the parameters that are stored in the
controller. The query "ok" serves only to complete the selection. The test can
be aborted prematurely by switching over to one of the other characteristics.
Starts the test of the battery circuit by reducing the charging voltage below the
battery open-circuit voltage. Checks the presence of the battery voltage.
Attention! This function is not possible if two devices without parallel opera-
tion line feed both one common rail. Faulty measurements and er-
roneous messages are possible due to voltage influence!
2.4.3 Manual operating mode selection by way of characteristic change- Formatted: Bullets and Numbering
over
The controller can operate at five different voltage levels that you can select
here. If the device is e.g. set to "float" and if the function "boost" is selected,
then the charging characteristic is switched over immediately.
If another rectifier unit is shunt-connected by way of the internal bus and the
operation mode has not been selected on the master, changeover may take
some time until the changeover command has been sent by way of the bus.
The characteristics boost charging, equal charge and battery test can be dis-
abled separately on the controller. In this case, no switch-over will be per-
formed!
The characteristics:
Float (EL)
Basic setting of the device on start.
Boost (LA)
Second voltage level for the rapid charging of the battery.
Manual (Man)
Required only for special configurations,
2.4.4 Relay
In this function, the selected relay can be checked for function.
When tested, the respective relay is switched to off-position via the test. After
a delay time of 15 seconds, it is switched back to the position held before the
test.
Attention!
Relay K3 may only be tested when the rectifier is at no load!!!
In the normal TDG version relay K3 is provided for the circuit of the mains
contactor. If the relay is selected and checked for function, the rectifier
switches off! Switching-on the relay K3 with switching-on the mains contactor
without start-up phase of the controller can get critical under certain circum-
stances. Therefore, relay K3 may always only be tested when the device is at
no load.

Here, you can select a language. German and English are always stored; a third
language can be optionally programmed.
Press button to select the language. Confirm the selection with the but-
ton . The button quits the menu.
During the LED test, the version number, the SAT address and "Device is mas-
ter (or slave)" are displayed.
By default, the ex factory setting is rectifier voltage (DC) and rectifier current
(DC). If another voltage value is desired to be displayed, check whethervoltage
2 is set up for the measurement.
Invoke the measured values with the button and select the desired value
with . Confirm your selection with . Quit the menu with .
2.5.6 Backlight
The backlight of the display will go on as soon as you operate a button. After a
defined time, when no button has been pressed, the backlight is switched off.
This time can be set from 0 to 254 seconds. If you enter 255, the display is
switched to continuous operation. (Setting range 0 – 255 sec.)
Here, the entire display is switched dark from the sides and from top and bot-
tom. (The four LEDs located above are also tested.)
The password is a number between 0 and 999 is selected using the but-
tons. The standard password set by the manufacturer for menu level 2 is "2".
This prevents accidental incorrect operation. The customer has to change this
password as soon as possible.

Nominal voltage:
This value serves to calibrate the voltage levels in the controller program.
If the battery type ( PB , NiCd ) or the number of cells of the battery changes
for technical reasons, the changes must only be made in the following menu
items "number of cells" or "cell voltage". By changing the values in the menu
items, all values of the device are changed automatically without further inter-
vention.
Only the " free measuring devices " may be subject to adjustment.
Nominal current:
It is possible to change the nominal current
between 0% and 100% Inom.

Since there are voltage drops in the lines between charger and battery, it is pos-
sible to balance this voltage drop by increasing the device output voltage auto-
matically. Line lengths between 0 and 255 meters as well as cross sections be-
tween 1.0 and 255 sqmm are programmable. Attention, if this function is acti-
vated, it must be ensured that the loads are not damaged by increasing the de-
vice voltage.
Date and time are not protected by a voltage source and must be entered during
commissioning. During short interruptions of both ( AC and DC ) supply volt-
ages of the controller the values are preserved.
In the menu "system settings" (password query), invoke the directory "time"

This function allows to determine the functions of the individual LEDs. Usu-
ally, the LEDs are allocated to their functions in the factory. If a free LED is to
be activated, proceed as follows:
In the menu "system settings", invoke the sub-menu "LED hold function" by
operating the button . Select input or function and confirm with .
Select delay time and confirm with . Select config. flags and determine
there whether the function is to be inverted and the error to be hold.
Attention: The number displayed after the LED ( e.g. LED13 ) is not identical
with the number of the LED ( No. 12 ).
The four relays are located on the controller and can be adjusted in their func-
tion from here. In their basic configuration, they correspond to the Thyrotronic
messaging standard.
Seven further I2C bus relays are programmable ( special board ).

2.7 Logbook
The controller includes a ring buffer with the last 200 fault conditions (the so-
called fault log). You can call up this log at any time from the main menu
while the basic display is active. Then, you can scroll through the entries using
the jog dials. The last entry will always appear first. Use button to delete
all entries.
