GUEST ROOM HITV and IPTV SPECIFICATION


1. IPTV HEAD-END SYSTEM

A. GENERAL

INTRODUCTION

IPTV consists of multicasting system of free to air and subscribed satellite channels.
The IPTV services cabinet will be located in the satellite head-end room near the roof area. The
IP TV systems will transmit multicast channels to guest room TVs any channels and or video
services that will be configured on the IPTV system. There will be some advertisement broadcast
service for the main building’s lobby, food court and open area.
IP Streamers deliver superior performance compared to traditional satellite RF head-end system
solutions and provide a rock solid foundation for audio and video broadcast applications over IP
Data network and Set-top Box based multimedia delivery platform.

B. SCOPE OF WORK:

The contractor shall supply IP TV services System for Hotel over Data Network. The System
will support IP TV multicast, broadcast, and on demand services and also support the
following minimum services:
1. IPTV Streaming Head-end
2. Interactive TV services
3. Compatible with multi-service convergent network
4. Video On Demand server with the option of content is a must
5. SBBs with the LCDs must support IPTV feed from third party ISP like Telecom Provider or
separately from a local IPTV head-end
6. SBB must support IPTV feed, IPTV and analog feed to the LCD.
7. Music On Demand with content is a must
8. IPTV system must support approximately a minimum of 20 Transponder frequencies.
9. IPTV must support a minimum of 150 channels
10. IPTV must offers all TV channels required in the building on the IP Network, including
live programming delivered in real time.
11. IPTV Head-end must be able to stream channels in MPEG-2 Standard Definition, MPEG-2
High Definition, and MPEG-4 High Definition if provided by the broadcasters.
12. SBBs must support MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 HD and MPEG-4 HD and solution must be
complete of hardware, software and not optional.
13. IPTV Head-end must provide channels in Multi-language audio where available like
Euronews, Luxe TV, where broadcasters transmit the channels in multiple languages.
14. IPTV head-end must provide EPG where provided by broadcasters as an optional
15. IPTV head-end must support subtitling if provided by the broadcasters as an optional
16. The centralized management server must be able to configure the solution in a way that
each Hotel IPTV solution must be manageable centrally, i.e.,

a) IPTV feed if delivered from a Telecom or ISP for one property should be
manageable centrally
b) IPTV feeds provided locally for individual properties from local IPTV head-end
must be also managed centrally
c) Properties with SMATV feed should have the option that when IPTV feed is not
available, the system will automatically (Not Manually) switch to the SMATV
feed

The system shall be based and/or operate on the hotel’s local area network (LAN) on CAT 6 or
7 with ITV SBB connected to ITV recommended Display Screen on a plug & play basis.

C. IPTV HEAD-END MINIMUM TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

1. IPTV head-end must support a minimum of 20 Free To Air Transponders between Arabsat,
Nilesat and Hotbird
2. IPTV Head-end must support a minimum of 10 Subscribed channels
3. IPTV head-end must use Multicast with QoS
4. IPTV head-end must support TV channels in Multi-language where ever provided by the
broadcasters like Euronews, LUX TV and others.

5. IPTV head-end must support individual Transponders as individual units with its own
power supply and network connectivity per Transponder Frequency.
6. IPTV Solution must be hardware based solution rather than having one unit supporting
multiple transponder or streamers for maintenance, reliability and stability.
7. IPTV Head-end must not be a PC/Server based solution for Stability purposes but
hardware based.
8. IPTV head-end must also have additional hardware re-multiplexing and grooming of
content through its MPEG processing application.
9. IPTV head-end must also have hardware for bandwidth management of several encoder
pools using IP-based closed loop statistical multiplexing algorithm.

H. QUALITY ASSURANCE

Manufacturer Qualification

1. The equipment and accessories to be furnished for the main head end system shall be of
the products of an international reputed manufacturer regularly engaged in producing
such systems.
2. Provide certificate of origin along with the packing list on delivery of material and
equipment

Installer Qualifications

1. It is recommended that the installations are executed by or under the direct supervision of
the manufacturer
2. The installer is regularly engaged in installing such head end system
3. The installation shall be carried out in a professional manner by experienced and qualified

personnel.

I. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT


All materials and equipment shall be first grade and in current production. No obsolete or
superseded equipment shall be used. All equipment shall be suitable to perform its
indicated functions and all items performing similar functions. The supplier must have at
least a service and maintenance base in the region and shall have enough stocks of spare
parts for the offered system
The supplier must support the system and provided spares and or replacement equipment
for a minimum period of 10 years as per the international laws and the letter of
undertaking must be provided by the manufacturer.
All materials and equipment shall be the best of their respective kind. The supplier shall
ensure that each proposed category of equipment or material shall be from approved
manufacturers who would assume single-source responsibility of the product.

1. DISH ANTENNAS

Dish Antennas shall be constructed of light aluminum alloy with positive locking of all
elements in position. All mounting and fixing materials shall be protected against
corrosion by heavy anodic coating or corrosion resisting compound.

The Contractor shall comply with the following requirements for all software related to all
parts of the project:

 Contractor shall supply original software media. No copies shall be accepted or


installed at any time.

 Contractor shall supply original software licenses from software supplier. No licenses
issued by the contractor shall be accepted.

 All software license agreements shall be in the name of the Client

 Configuration: It is recommended that if changes are required, to be done through


software rather than the hardware

 In case the contractor chooses to offer specific feature through new software
development. The contractor must provide the software media for all customized
software if any.

 IPTV Supervisor Application: Web Interface for stream monitoring IPTV


Administration: Web Interface for the management of TV and radio channel
specifications.

IP Streams will utilizes the Data Network to transport the streams from IP head-end
system to the Interactive cards (SBB) inside the guest rooms.

2. INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS

A. GENERAL DEFINITIONS

1. The specification describes the Interactive Television System (ITV) to be installed into
the premises in the Hotel
2. The Contractor shall be responsible for the supply and installation of all elements
comprising the systems as outlined in this specification, drawings and bill of quantity
excluding any trunking, containment and/or conduit, and the installation and
connection of any mains supplies required.
3. The contractor shall ensure that all systems installed comply fully with this specification
and performance parameters and to the satisfaction of the consultant
4. It is recommended that the main system equipment and accessories are product of
following approved manufacturers and include any other ISO specified companies.

B. INTERACTIVE SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS


1. The HITV system shall provide the Hotel room, in addition to all the traditional
Interactive TV and Video On Demand (VOD), High Speed / High Quality Internet access
services, with a Seamless navigation between Internet HTML pages and Intranet HTML
pages, which can be easily customized for each hotel via a simplified user editor. The
system shall be based on Set Back Box (SBB) solution both of which should integrated
with room Hotel Interactive LCDs.
2. LCDs or Interactive System Solutions with in-built STB or interactive card is not an
acceptable solution for HITV and IPTV and the products with Built-in STB will not be
approved.
3. The system shall provide CONTEMPORARY ACCESS to all the guest room at the same
time. Due to typical problems and limitations of number of simultaneous users Channel
Allocation Technology is not acceptable. The Architecture of the system shall be open,
based on an Intranet platform and shall use standard TCP/IP, HTTP, and JAVA Scripts
protocols.
4. The HITV system must interface with the Guest Room Management System/Access
Control system so that Lighting/AC controls can be controlled through the HITV system
Guest LCD TVs as well as the RF remote controls with LCD display. The GRMS and the
interactive LCD must be sync at all times.
5. The In-Room equipment shall consist of:
a) An Open Architecture TV set, with Hotel Mode features provided with a Full
HD interface with hospitality port for communication with the SBB
b) The HD SBB shall support either a CAT 5E and above network.
c) The HD SBB must support the following:

i. MPEG-2 Standard Definition, MPEG-2 High Definition and MPEG-4 High
Definition – decoder for MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 HD, MPEG-4 HD

iii. Additional Ethernet port on demand for use of laptop connectivity
iv. USB port for flash upgrades
v. On-board internet browser
vi. MP3 decoder
vii. MPEG-2 decoder for digital streaming of digital on demand movies and
television channels via IP streams
viii. The Set top Box must have Integrated Personal WIFI Hot Spot with High
Bandwidth Capabilities to stream Video on/from the Guest Mobile
Devices from/on the in room TV.
ix. The Set top Box must allow multiple mobile devices internet access into
the In Room WIFI Bubble.
x. The Set top Box must allow Guest “PUSH” the contents (music / video)
into the TV set and “PULL” a VOD or IPTV second stream from the Hotel
Servers onto the tablet wirelessly.
d) Minimum connectors shall include:
i. Data Connectors – LAN 10/100 (RJ45), IR I/O (RJ12 6 pin), serial RS232
(DB9) Philips Xpress serial (RJ48 10 pins), USB
ii. Video Decoder – VGA D-sub HD 15, HDMI (cable adapters available for
YpbPr and DVI graphical resolution 1280 x 720 Stereo audio OUT (mini
jack), HDMI
iii. Audio Decoder – AAC LC, AAC LC+SBR, AAC+, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital
iv. Other Connectors - MPEG 1 layer 1,2,3 (MP3) Windows Media Audio

e) Hardware Features:

g) The interface between the HD SBB and the TV screen should be a complete
interface which would provide functions like banner management (True RGB
Insertion) in both the interactive as well as channels Menu. Features like
Picture in Browser and when scrolling channels the channel should be
displayed in the right corner of the screen as you scroll down the channel list.

h) The Interactive System must come with page editing software so that the Hotel
can modify the interactive pages and the Menu rather than going back to the
interactive system manufacturer.
i) A proprietary universal Remote Control shall be supplied to access the Internet
services with pre-defined links classified by category. The control of the TV and
HITV functionality must be achieved via a single remote control with no
external IR.
j) A Wireless Keyboard Virtual/On screen keyboard shall be supplied with each TV
to use extensively with the Internet and E-Mail services.
k) The system shall provide the guest with an internet WEB surfing facility with
defined readability of Internet pages from the typical distance for guest rooms.
l) The HD SBB must be running a Linux Kernel and a Windows based PC is not
acceptable.
6. The Network Computer Architecture of the HD SBB Terminal shall guarantee a high
quality image in terms of brilliance and definition. The system shall provide the guest
with an internet WEB surfing facility with defined readability of Internet pages from the
typical bed – TV distance.
7. The system should be scalable in future for doing NPVR functions.
8. The system shall provide remote supervision facility to monitor system performance,
fault analysis, software downloading, check-in, check out status and also should use a
single interface to the PMS.

C. GENERAL FACILITIES
The system shall be made with the following facilities.
1. Interactive pages shall be generated directly by the graphical processor of the
Interactive terminal and the same shall be resident in the terminal (Channel Allocation
technology shall not be used to provide graphics on the screen).
2. The interactive pages shall be made like a WEB like navigation style resident into the
interactive terminal which allows the guest to “navigate” easily between the interactive
pages using the arrow key buttons of the remote control (and not the numbers of the
numeric paddle)
3. The interactive pages shall come with multiple colors.
4. Local memory: Each of the interactive terminal shall have its own rewritable memory
which can store as much as pages required for any hotel with graphical content.

D. INTERACTIVE SYSTEM SERVER


The system server shall be a Management Server must be a proper server with the latest
applicable specification at time of installation, the operating system shall be Windows 2000
server or above and it shall directly control, or may be interfaced with, the following
external systems as a minimum:

E. FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION
A. Individual alphanumeric room number codes shall be assigned to each TV.
B. Special access codes shall be programmed for housekeeping and maintenance
personnel and no additional remote control must be used for the same service.
C. Language selection shall be flagged at check-in or user assigned in the guestroom. A
choice of various European Languages & Arabic shall be available.
D. All defaults are reset at check-out
E. Alarm conditions are reported at central PC
F. The HITV contractor shall co-ordinate with hotel management to clearly define the
scope of works for system interfacing and shall identify those areas requiring interface
works by third party suppliers to the hotel.
G. Such third party interfaces shall be written to the specification supplied by the HITV
contractor but shall be supplied by the hotel in conjunction with the third party.
H. The HITV system shall be capable of operating continuously in standalone mode
whereby all transactions shall be logged and printed on the HITV printer if required.

I. This data transport structure shall be so designed as to not overload any element of the
distribution system nor require reconfiguration, in order to successfully manage all
services specified for this project.
J. The central management server shall continuously log the polled status of all system
components and generate alarms upon system elements being found outside pre-
configured control point settings.
K. The central management server shall be installed with secure remote access software
such that the manufacturer or the authorized service agent may dial in to the system to
carry out Software Updates, Regular system maintenance and Fault diagnostics.
L. Virtual Hostess (if required by the client) should be available to guide the Guest through
the Interactive Menu. Virtual hostess should be able to Welcome the Guest and guide
the Guest through the interactive Menu or the Services available. It responds to the
Remote Control and explains the requested Service or Selected Function.

F. STANDARD GUEST ROOM FUNCTIONS


Guests shall have access to the following functions of the HITV system by use of the hand
held infra-red remote control OR wireless keyboard supplied with the open architecture TV
sets. The proposed system should have the capability to provide any of the following
features if required by the Client:
i. WELCOME MESSAGE
As soon as the Check IN message is received from the PMS, the TV set shall be switched
on automatically. Welcome page shown with music background, with or without Guest
name. The main Menu shall also include a small live window where the TV programs
can be seen. If animated hostess is used then it should be capable of giving the welcome
message at Check-in.
ii. PIP – PICTURE IN PAGE
All the Menu pages shall include a small live window (PIP) where the TV programs can

iii. PERSONAL MESSAGE
Guest shall receive directly on the TV screen any Personal Message edited from the
supervising software or from the PMS application (the option shall be included in the
PMS communication protocol). The presence of a new message shall be indicated by an
ICON/Message appearing on the TV screen. The guest shall read, and or confirm any
message after having read it and shall revert back to the Main Menu after having
confirmed the message.
iv. WAKE UP
The guest shall program the wake up time easily from the Room TV. When wake up time
is due the TV shall switch on automatically and volume increases slowly. The Guest has
to confirm the wake up call by pressing OK button on the remote control. The Hotel

should be able to define the kind of wake-up sound like TV Channel, Music or the
standard buzzer for wake-up.
v. IN-HOUSE INFORMATION PAGES
a. The central management server shall contain a set of pre-configured templates
for presentation of the information pages. This information shall be customized
to suit the hotel’s requirement.
b. The information pages shall consists of various Text formats with facility to insert
photographic images as required to suit the hotel’s requirement.
vi. VIEW BILL
The guest shall be able to view their bills and this service shall also provide the
possibility for the guest to view the total amount of his bill (Basic) or to analyze the
complete detailed bill (Extended). The HITV system supplier shall liaise with the PMS
supplier to provide billing information’s as per the requirement requested by the hotel.
vii. RADIO
Direct access through a single dedicated button on the remote control to internet Radio
Channels as well as the normal radio channels from the IPTV feed on the same page.
viii. LANGUAGE SELECTION
Manual or automatic from check in – The system shall support multiple languages with
English as Standard with Options of Arabic and European languages.
ix. TELETEXT
The system shall be able to provide quick navigation between standard teletext pages
from the room television if teletext is relayed.
x. CENTRALIZED TV TUNING
The interactive TV system shall provide a centralized TV tuning facility to take control of
all the TV channels distributed in the hotel. From the System Server it shall be possible
in few seconds to create, modify or update the list of TV programs and to control all the
settings of each TV set – Volume, Brightness, Contrast etc from a centralized location.
xi. PMS Link
The Interactive TV system shall be interfaced with the Hotel property management
system (PMS) and the system shall accept the billing protocols within the PMS software.
xii. HOUSE KEEPING (OPTIONAL)
By using a “Service Menu”, the Housekeeping personnel shall be able to up date the
room status by using the guest remote control accessed with a user code and mention
the status of the Room if the same is clean or dirty. Automatic reporting will be available
on the System Server including interface with the PMS.
xiii. MAINTANANCE
By using a “Service Menu”, the Maintenance personnel shall be able to up date the
room status by using the guest remote control accessed with a user code. All the
information related to the maintenance of the room can be customized by the Hotel

and up dated by the Maintenance personnel. Automatic reporting will be available on
the System Server and on a centralized TV.
xiv. BATHROOM LOUDSPEAKER
It shall be possible to connect an external loudspeaker to the television and control the
volume of both the television and the external loudspeaker by use of the remote
control.
xv. SYSTEM CHECKUP
The system shall provide the facility from the System Server to check the real time
status of each TV / Network Computer terminal.
xvi. ROOM SERVICE (Optional)
The central PC shall contain a set of pre-configured templates for presentation of the
room service pages. These information shall be customized to suits the hotel’s individual
requirement.
The HITV system supplier shall co ordinate with the hotels F&B department to collate
details regarding Restaurant Menu, Pricing and ordering time etc. The information
pages shall consists of various Text formats with facility to insert photographic images
prices as required to suit the hotel’s individual requirement and should be able to print
the Guest request of a room service order to a printer either locally or on the network.
xvii. BANNER MANAGEMENT
The HITV system should have the facility to create banner information in the form of a
scrolling banner to send information’s like – news, flash, greetings, advertisements,
Birthday wishes, individual or group messages etc
xviii. LAUNDRY & BAGGAGE (Optional)
The HITV system shall allow the guest to order a laundry or baggage service and the
service shall be printed / notified to the concerned department.
xix. Remote Jack Pack (Optional)
The HITV system must support Remote Jack Pack (Media Hub) integration and should
allow external multimedia devices to be able to connect to the Remote jack Pack
Interface and should be able to navigate between the functions through the Interactive
Menu and the Interactive Remote control. Media Hub has to be quoted as an optional.

xx. INTERNET - CONTEMPORARY ACCESS


 The Interactive TV System shall offer Internet with simultaneous access to all the
rooms at the same time. The system shall be of network computer architecture and
channel allocation technology should not be used. Selecting the Internet Icon on the
main menu shall use the Internet: immediately a list of features shall be shown and
for each feature there shall be the possibility to choose a desired selection of Hot
Links. Surfing the Internet shall be made easier and immediate, and the simplified
remote control shall be enough to navigate through the most useful WEB sites.

 The system shall also be able to access a specific WEB Site introducing its URL
address from the WWW Pop Up menu.
 The Communication shall be through TCP/IP and HTTP standard protocol running
over the ethernet Network.
 All these functions shall be configured in a Pay x Day modality (price to be defined by
the Hotel) or with free of charge modality. If required by the hotel a specific amount
of time shall be available for free for the guest before the charges are requested to
the guest and confirmed by the guest.
 The guest before being charged, has to introduce their room number as
confirmation. While surfing the Web it shall be possible to open picture in browser,
where the TV program can be watched contemporary.
 It shall be possible to access internet via the TV remote control / Wireless key board.
xxi. E-MAIL – CONTEMPORARY ACCESS
Selecting the E-Mail icon on the main menu, a certain number of Hot Links to E-Mail
portals shall be showed. This service shall be included in the Pay per Day formula of the
Internet Access service or can be Free of Charge.
xxii. DIGITAL VIDEO ON DEMAND
 Digital Video on Demand (VOD) shall be supplied by industry standard whereby all
guests must be able to select from their TV set a variety of stored digital videos. The
VOD server shall have a capacity of 100 Contemporary Video Streams, Configured for
minimum 100 Simultaneous Users. VOD server must support MPEG-2 Standard
Definition, MPEG-2 High Definition and MPEG-4 High Definition. Once the selection
has been made and the charge request confirmed the video shall start immediately.
Control functions like Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind and Forward shall be available in the
system.
 The VOD access shall be shall be expandable up to total simultaneous users with
enough storage capacity of videos and the number of simultaneous users shall be
defined by the hotel operator/client. The system shall utilize Ethernet network only
and the network speed requirements shall be coordinated with the HITV supplier.
 A Video cassette Recorder (VCR) based video on demand system shall not be
acceptable.
 A detailed cost proposal on Content Delivery and License fees shall be provided to
the hotel after finalizing the operational procedures of the VOD system.

xxiii. AUDIO ON DEMAND


 Audio on Demand (AOD) shall be supplied by industry standard whereby all guests
must be able to select from their TV set a variety of stored music’s. Options shall be
made to classify the variety of music selections, which shall be customized according
to the hotel’s requirement. Once the selection has been made and the charge
request confirmed the music shall start immediately. The Audio system shall support
MP3 format.

 The AOD access shall be shall be expandable up to total simultaneous users and the
number of simultaneous users shall be defined by the hotel operator/client

xxiv. INTERNET RADIO
Direct access to Internet Radio Stations from around the world must be provided.
xxv. GAMES FACILITY
The HITV system shall include the facility to offer Games either in a JavaScript Format or in
an external server based architecture. The games facility shall be made available to use with
the remote control or the wireless keyboard. The use of Joy Sticks or any external devises
are not permitted.
xxvi. Network Personal Video Recording (optional)
Network Personal Video recording must be provided as a part of the solution. Each STB must
be able to record a minimum of 2 hours of HD or SD content and must be erased during
check-out of the Guest.

G. DOCUMENTATION :
Vendor shall provide documentation in accordance with the Consultant’s requirements and
standards.
Vendor shall provide two sets of the following:
 All equipment handbooks
 All software listings
 Wall chart for control rooms
 Operating instructions for Banqueting staff to cover simple events.
 Operating instructions for engineering staff to cover larger and more complicated
events.
 System Maintenance Manuals
 Measured results from Commissioning
 As-installed system handbook and wiring diagrams
 Full system drawings
 Laminated schematics for equipment racks/systems (as appropriate) inside the back
door of each equipment rack
 As Built Drawings
 A reference list of a minimum of 5 projects in the UAE where the proposed
hardware / software version has been installed.

H. COMMISSIONING & TESTING
The complete installation shall be completed by the system integrator with the final
commissioning by the representative of the Manufacture who is responsible to demonstrate
the operation of the system to the satisfaction of the Owners personnel

I. TRAINING :
1. Vendor should provide the operational and maintenance training for selected
members of the IT and or Engineering staff.
2. A further training session is to be provided within a six month period after handover
at a date to be mutually agreed between the vendor and the hotel operator.

J. TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND PREVENTATIVE SYSTEM MAINTENANCE :


1. The system and equipment shall be warranted for a minimum of one year from the
handover date.
2. Vendor shall provide a maintenance and support scenario, which shall include the
following for the duration of the warranty defects liability period:
i. Regular maintenance program
ii. Emergency call-out (including response time)
3. System vendor shall provide if not the manufacture representative office support in
UAE with secondary support from the manufacturer whose office should have been
established in the UAE for not less than 24 months

3. INTERACTIVE LCDs/LEDs

A. GENERAL DEFINITIONS

1. The specification describes the LCD/LED TVs to be installed into the premises in the
Hotel
2. The Contractor shall be responsible for the supply and installation of all elements
comprising the Systems as outlined in this specification, drawings and bill of quantity
Excluding any Trunking, containment and/or conduit, and the installation and
connection of any mains supplies required.
3. It is recommended that the main system equipments and accessories are product of
following approved Manufacturer's and include any other ISO specified companies.

B. HOTEL INTERACTIVE LCD TV SPECIFICATION

1. LCDs shall be made by the manufacturer for the Hospitality Industry or Consumer model
TV with HDMI CEC protocol 1.3V or above. LCDs must have a Built-in smart port for
interactive capability and shall support all leading interactive system manufacturers as a
must. Multiple Interactive system manufactures with true integration must be available
without external IR eye. The port shall support open protocol and shall be factory built.
It shall support plug and play compatibility with interactive hardware and software
components.
2. The televisions shall be future proof with easy upgrades of operational features via
software and also shall be Full HD and not HDTV ready and capable of HDMI and other
high resolution inputs. Channel selection shall be possible via a numeric keypad or
sequential switching of up and down arrows. Have a high level of display, vivid and
sharp. All options of brackets and mounting accessories for ceiling fix, table top and wall
mounting shall be provided.
3. Be capable of limiting the functions on the television to the guest. It shall be possible to
lock the TV volume at a predefined level. The tuning and other front panel controls
including ON screen menus shall be lockable with password activation. The guest shall
not be able to select the channels that have not been tuned onto the TV. LCDs must be

able to seamlessly interface the TV remote with the HITV remote. Only one remote is
envisaged for TV and HITV applications.
4. Welcome message to be displayed on screen each time the TV set is ON. The message
activation shall be adjustable. Integrated LCD clock display (adjustable brightness) with
wake up and message alarm is a must
5. Fast upload and download (bi-directional transfer) of all programming settings from one
TV to many TV’s via a wireless unit or via the Hotel Interactive System. The televisions
shall be capable of being programmed to switch ON a particular channel.
6. LCD screen shall be with anti-reflection coating and the display shall be high resolution
(min WXGA-1Mega Pixels) TFT LCD.LCD panels shall be as a minimum be of 7th
generation with aspect ratio support for wide screen. Viewing angle shall be wide, i.e.,
min 176o deg H/ 176o deg V. Televisions shall have brightness (min 500cdm2), contrast
ration (1000:1) and response time (min8ms) to industry standards.
7. Speakers shall be integrated with virtual Dolby surround and stereo audio system. There
should be facility for headphone connection and connecting external speakers
(amplified out).Auto volume leveler shall be provided.
8. Picture enhancement features like progressive scan, digital noise reduction, jagged line
suppression, colour transient improvement, luminance transient improver, colour
enhancement, sharpness adjustment, Digital motion compensation, active control etc.
Display resolution for computer and video formats of various sized shall be supported.
Contractor to confirm resolution and refresh rate supported. Screen formats shall be
adjustable. Auto formats to adjust aspect ratio is required. Confirm the on screen
display languages available.
9. LCDs preset channels capability shall be minimum 125, with Tuner bands shall support
hyper band, S-Channel, UHF and VHF if Coaxial based TV channeling is used. TV System
shall be PAL and Video Playback shall be NTSC, PAL and SECAM. LCDs must support
aerial input of 75ohm coaxial. Tuner display shall be PLL digital. Connectivity features of
HDMI, EURO SCART, PC input (VGA 15 pin sub-D), DVI, S-Video in, RJ-12 connector,
external loudspeaker connector, CVBS in Audio (L/R) in etc, shall be provided. It shall be
possible to caption channel with number and name. Momentary display or permanent
display shall be possible.
10. The televisions shall be slim profile, light weight and aesthetically pleasing with high
finish to suit the décor.
11. TV units shall be suitable for 230V AC, +/-10%, 50Hz normal power supply. Any filtering,
stabilizer or surge protection required shall be provided within the TV units. Plug tops
shall be standard fused 13Amps. Auto power ON and muting function shall be available,
energy saving mode shall be available, Televisions shall conform to EC/IEC/European
safety standards, and Anti aging circuit shall be provided where applicable.
12. Televisions shall have picture in graphics mode. Dynamic program differentiation
between TV, Info, radio and HITV shall be possible for screen display adjustment,
adjustable ambient light shall be available.
