2. Information will be given in a chart/ graph/ table/ outline
3. Interpret the data given
4. Describe the facts and cover all the information given.
5. Language should be simple, easy to understand, crisp and very clear.
6. Should be brief( 100- 120 words only)
7. Mention figures and quantities given in the chart etc.
8. Use the same tense theoughout the analytical paragraph.
9. No personal observation or opinuin to be given.
10. Use the passive form of the verb.
11. The key is to choose wisely the important information, organize it well, state correct
facts and summarize it properly.

FORMAT
1. Introduction- 1 or 2 lines. Describe briefly what the graph is about. Introduce the context
of the given chart. Do not go into details. Mention what is clearly visible in the chart.
Use the following phrases
● The chart given above describes…
● The table suggests…
● The line graph shows…
● The data given provides information about…
● The pie chart illustrates that…
2. Body- should contain details given in the chart.
● Look for trends
● Compare and contrast
● Look for large differences that are very prominent.
● First mention differences.
● Then mention similarities.
● Finally mention what has remained constant or unchanged throughout.
● Mention numbers and figures given- you can also mention in terms of percentage, ratio,
fraction. For example, 1/4th of the population…, ratio of boys and girls in the given graph
is …., the rate of undergraduates going abroad for higher studies has gone up by 40 %
in the last decade.
● Use connectors or linking phrases to connect different ideas or information.
● Arrange your sentences in a sequence and connect them rationally.
● For describing trends use words and phrases like- pattern of growth, rapidly doubled,
exponential growth, striking increase, soaring rates, plummeted, leveled off, stagnated,
fluctuation, starting to fall/drop
● For describing quantities use- majority, twice as much, nearly as much as, almost equal,
the highest, lowest, very close to
● For compare and contrast use - similarly, in contrast with, in comparison to, however,
whereas, as opposed to, noticeable difference
3. Conclusion- summarize the idea mentioned and the information in general. 1 concluding
statement. Should not include personal opinions. Simply stick to the facts given.
use words like - Subsequently, overall, in all, in a nutshell, therefore
