Start of Class Teacher will display two images on the projector. One image is from the video game Dead Space and another is from the video game NBA 2K11. Students will be asked to compare the graphic styles of the images. Students will then be

informed that these differences are the very same differences that made art in the Renaissance period unique. 9:12 AM Introduction of Lesson Teacher will explain the objectives and topic of the lesson. Teacher will show introduction video that gives an engaging overview of the Renaissance period. Teacher will then ask students what they were already familiar with from the video, and what they have already learned about the Renaissance in the previous weeks as a whole. Students will be prompted to recall the Proestant Reformation, the rise in humanism, the changes in architecture, and other information already covered in class. Lesson Instruction You have already learned about the changes in culture, architecture, religion, and society during the Renaissance, and today we are looking more specifically at the changes in art. Students will be given the handout on Renaissance art characteristics, and will be asked to individually read it. How do these characteristics relate to other ideas that emerged during the Renaissance? Then, students will use the information on the handout and apply it by comparing pre-Renaissance and Renaissance works of art shown on the Renaissance art Prezi presentation. 9:25 AM Assessments/Checks for Understanding Students will be asked to apply what they learned about Renaissance art characteristics by making their own drawing that incorporates at least two of the characteristics. Students will be told to provide a title, write out the characteristics they are incorporating, and to put effort into the drawing. The rest of class can be used on this assignment. These will be collected the following Tuesday when I will be back at the placement.
