Sidna Shaykh’s (may Allah be pleased with
him) Invocations After the Obligatory
Prayers
Translated from: Itḥāf al-Sāmi‘ wa al-Rāwī bi Ba‘ḍ Ajwibati al-Shaykh wa al-
Fātāwī, a collection of Fatwās by Shaykh al-Islam, Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse
(may Allah be pleased with him), compiled by Imam Shaykh Ahmad Tijani
Cisse (may Allah preserve him).
Here, we will transmit to you some invocations of the Seal al-Tijānī
(may Allah be pleased with him). The text is narrated from the Khalī-
fah and pious saint, Sīdī al-‘Arabī ibn Sā’iḥ (may Allah be pleased
with him). He said:
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. May Allah bless
our Master Muhammad, his family and companions with the most
perfect of prayers and salutations of peace. These are the invocations
that our Master and Shaykh, the Greatest Shaykh and the Greenest
of Standards, Mawlāna Ahmad ibn Mahammad al-Tijani (may Allah
be pleased with him and with us through him, āmīn) used to recite
after every obligatory prayer. Immediately after the salām, he would
say:
“O, Allah, You are the Guardian of Peace. From You is
all peace. To You returns all peace. So, cause us to live in
peace. And cause us to enter the abode of peace. Blessed
are You, o, Owner of majesty and honor.” (Three times)
Then he would say:
“I seek the forgiveness of Allah, other than Whom, there
is no god, the Living, the Self-subsistent. And I repent to
Him.” (Three times)

Then:
“There is no god but Allah. He is one and has no part-
ner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all
praise. He causes life and causes death. And He has power
over all things. O, Allah, there is no one to withhold that
which You have given, nor anyone to give that which You
have withheld. Nor does the effort of the one who strives
benefit him against You.”
Then
"O, Allah, help me to remember You, to show gratitude to
You and to worship You excellently."
Then (after the Fajr prayer alone):
“Glorified is Allah, the Most Immensely Great and may He
be praised.” (Three times)
Then, the Bāqiyāt al-Ṣāliḥāt:
“Allah be glorified. All praise is due to Allah. There is no
god but Allah. Allah is the Greatest.” (thirty-three, thirty-four,
eleven or ten times, according to the 4 different reports).

Then Āyah al-Kursī (once):

belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the Earth.
Who is there that can intercede with Him except through
His permission? He knows what is in front of them and
that which is behind them. And they do not encompass
anything of his knowledge, except what he wills. His Foot-
stool encompasses the Heavens and the Earth. And their
preservation does not burden him. And He is the Most
Exalted, the Most Immensely Great.”
Then (once):
“O, Allah, I put forward to you before each breath, each

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Mer-

Then:

with whose name nothing, either in the Earth or in heaven,
can harm. And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

Then Sūrah al-Qadr (three times after Fajr and after Maghrib):
“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Mer-

Indeed, We sent it down on the Night of Decree. And what
will cause you to know what is the Night of Decree? The
night of Decree is better than a thousand nights. The An-
gels and the Spirit descend in it by the permission of their
Lord with every command. Peace until the rising of the
dawn.”
Afterwards, he would say:
“O, Allah. O, Owner of the decree, relieve me of my wor-
ries and my difficulties. ”
This is what has been transmitted to us, and what we were ordered
to act upon by our Master, the Khalīfah of the cities of al-Maghrib,
Sīdī al-‘Arabī ibn Sā’iḥ (may Allah be pleased with him).
