1. INTRODUCTION
The electrical control box to which this manual refers can be used to regulate and manage
automatic distribution units consisting of electromagnetic industrial vibrators that have a
maximum intake that is not greater than that indicated on the rating plate on the box. It has in
fact been conceived for control systems using modules that are also different from one
another and dialogue.
In all the available versions the box in question is stabilised inasmuch as the circuit (EL7_ST,
EL7_PLC, EL7_AC, EL7_AC_PLC) is not only stable in terms of temperature and reliable but
is also equipped with features that enable it to compensate any line variations (± 20) thus
keeping constant the intensity of vibrations regardless of the fluctuations to which the network
is subjected over the space of twenty-four hours. This feature is unaltered by any type of
power supply.
The EL7.AC and EL7.AC.PLC are the versions with vibration sensors. The circuits that they
contain (EL7_AC or EL7_AC_PLC) not only enable line voltage variations to be stabilised but
also stabilise the weight variations with which the vibrator is loaded.
The versions EL7.SE, EL7.AC.SE, EL7.PLC.SE and EL7.AC.PLC.SE consist of two circuits,
one for actual regulation of the vibrator (EL7_ST, EL7_AC, EL7_PLC and EL7_AC_PLC) and
the other for managing time (SE).
2. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Before connecting the control box to the power supply, make sure that the power supply is
compatible with the rating plate values.
The control box must be used only for the purposes for which it has been designed, i.e. for
controlling an electromagnetic vibrator. Any other use is improper and therefore hazardous.
The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any improper, incorrect or unreasonable use.
In the event of faults and/or malfunctions of the appliance, switch it off and do not tamper with
it. For any repairs, contact only TUMAC , which will use original spare parts. Failure to comply
with these instructions may jeopardise the safety of the appliance.
Any adjustment, measurement or check that is required must be carried out by authorised and
qualified personnel. The manufacturer accepts no liability for harm to persons, animals or
things caused by interventions to the control box by unauthorised and unqualified personnel.
! WARNING
Do not use the appliance near zones subject to vibrations or in damp and/or acid
environments. If the vibrator has a fault, check the wiring, check settings, disconnect the
power supply and check that the fuses have not burnt out. If the fuses have burnt out, replace
them with identical ones (if fuses burn out repeatedly, check vibrator power intake).

3 CONNECTING PARTS ON LID
Before switching on the control box, check that the system is properly earthed and then
connect the parts of the lid to the clamps of the connectors of the card (EL7_ST, EL7_AC,
EL7_PLC or EL7_AC_PLC) as shown in the fig. below (Fig.1).

! WARNING
Before carrying out any operation on the cards contained in the box, disconnect the power
supply and loosen the screws on the lid to open the box.
• Wiring
Connect connector 1 as follows:
− the power supply to clamps 1-2 ;
− vibrator to clamps 5-6;
− earth to clamps 3-4.
In compliance with the EMC standard, the card is equipped with a filter with leakage
current towards earth of less than 1mA.
8
• Setting minimum and maximum vibrator speed
The vibrator’s minimum and maximum speeds can be set either only by a potentiometer
command (versions: EL7_ST and EL7_AC) or by a potentiometer and PLC command
(versions: EL7_PLC and EL7_AC_PLC); in the latter case the selection must be made by
jumper Y4 as shown in the fig. (disconnect power supply before making the
selection).
The vibrator can be switched off using the connector 2 in the following manner:
connect the inputs 3-5 of the connector 2 with a clean contact that carries no voltage
(e.g. relay contact) or connector of input 3-4 of connector 2 with 24-VDC input signal (e.g.
from PLC). In the latter case, pay attention to + and – polarity.
Disconnect power supply before making the connections.

5 FITTING VIBRATION SENSOR (ACCELEROMETER) AND SPECIFIC
USE OF CARD EL7_AC (EL7_AC_PLC)
The vibration sensor (Fig.5) must be located in such a way that the sensitive part is arranged
according to the vibration direction and in such a position that it picks up all vibrations (see fig.
6).

Once the sensor has been fixed, connect it to the EL7.AC (EL7_AC_PLC) circuit and after
powering up the control box, set min. and max. vibrator speed (see paragraph 4) in order to
obtain a sufficiently ample adjustment. Then set the vibrator at the desired speed.
The EL7 control box AC (EL7_AC_PLC), uses the data supplied by the vibration sensor
(accelerometer) to vary the supply to the vibrator in order to maintain the set speed whatever
the quantity and weight of the material loaded on the vibrator.
The circuit is supplied with standard calibration but the vibrator vibration may be different from
the reference vibration and therefore from the standard calibration.
To overcome this difficulty, it is sufficient to adjust the sensitivity setting trimmer located on the
interface circuit of the accelerometer interface in such a way as to adjust the operation of
vibrators with widely differing vibration ranges without having to shift the position of the
accelerometer.
The trimmer shifts both the minimum and maximum limit so as to facilitate alignment of the
required variation.
The following points must be considered in order to obtain an optimal working point:
− If the circuit is optimised with an empty vibrator, the work point must be sufficiently below
line voltage that when the load is increased the circuit can keep vibration stable by
supplying more output voltage.
− If the vibrator with full load is optimised, the voltage on the vibrator will fall as the channel
or the container empties, so the work point can be nearer line voltage.
The circuit EL7_AC (EL7_AC_PLC) is supplied with response times that are such as not to
cause oscillation problems in the vast majority of cases.
If the vibrator and circuit nevertheless fail to reach a stable operating condition, this means
that the quality of the vibrator is much below the normal standards (too much sensitivity or too
light a structure).
In such cases, everything must be stiffened by mechanically modifying the vibrator or
increasing the spring pack.
The EL7_AC (EL7_AC_PLC) circuits with vibration sensor enable the operation of the vibrator
or of the system to be greatly improved but cannot completely correct system design errors.
But a good design can only benefit even further from such circuits that have been specially
designed and engineered to optimise and perfectly control all types of electromagnetic
vibrators in all operating conditions.
