Final Project of Syntax
This project is given to show that students are able to describe some syntactic
aspects of a language using concepts from the course. Students can focus on
one of topics or subtopics already discussed during the semester. The main
point of this project is that you propose a syntactic topic to be applied to
English, Bahasa Indonesia or any local language that students are familiar
with in Indonesia. The sections to include are as following:
Title of the Project followed by student’s names and registered number
(NIM)
Background (no less than 500 words)
The section is an introductory part describing the proposed topic and
laying out the basic facts needed to follow discussion of the language and
the data which constitute the core of the theoretical problem to be
addressed. This section should clearly identify the reason why the topic
is interesting. Additionally, you should include a brief overview of the
language, including language name, specific dialect you’re presenting on
(if appropriate), geographic region where the language is spoken, how
many people speak the language and so forth.
Analysis and Discussion (no less than 1000 words)
The section includes data presentation, analysis and discussion.
Conclusion (approximately 300 words)
In this part, you not only draw conclusion of the analysis but also write
reflective paragraph(s) of what you have learned in the course and
particularly after analyzing the topic in this project.
Reference (optional)
The project will be evaluated on the basis of mastery of the topic being
discussed (30%), grammatical accuracy (15%), organization of ideas (20%) and
analysis (35%). This project must be submitted on the day of final examination
as scheduled. However, early submission is accepted.
