VIDEOCONFERENCING

— Due to the high cost of transportation and time

spent travelling to meeting, Videoconferencing
being introduced.
— Eg: PC-cameras, NetMeeting, and Google meet
MULTIMEDIA TRAVEL SYSTEM

CORPORATE TRAINING

— Reduce the training costs and improve employee

productivity. How??
Eg: CBT (Computer Based Training)
— Not on paper, use computer with user interactive

ART

— Books à pictures are static and unconnected

— Multimedia à Ability to display more than 16 million

colors lets computers exhibit artwork in true colors
that rival those on the printed page.
— Show artwork no need by paper, can use tab / online
to show artwork.

BIOLOGY

— Biology teachers are taking advantage of

multimedia ability to bring classrooms to life with
animations, full-motion video clips, and stereo
sound.
— Multimedia curriculum resources include animals,
dissection, genetics, and cellbiology.

CHEMISTRY

— Problem: Students do not have enough time to

conduct experiments.
— Dangerous à Chemicals cause cancer
— Expensive
— That’s why chemistry adapt the multimedia for
teaching and learning.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES

— Books can teach grammar and vocabulary

BUT ….. they cannot interact with us
— Multimedia computers are perfect tools for teaching
language
1. Provide pronunciation capabilities
2. Full motion video put students in real-life
situations

VIRTUAL REALITY

• Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to

create a simulated environment.
• Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user
inside an experience.
• Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are
immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds.
• By simulating as many senses as possible, such as
vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is
transformed into a gatekeeper to this artificial world.
• The only limits to near-real VR experiences are the
availability of content and cheap computing power.
