General Instructions:
(1) There are 16 questions in all. All questions are compulsory.
(2) This question paper has five sections: Section A, Section B, Section C,
Section D and Section E.
(3) All the sections are compulsory.
(4) Section A contains eight questions, Six MCQ and Two Assertion
Reasoning based of 1 mark each,
Section B contains two questions of two marks each,
Section C contains three questions of three marks each,
Section D contains one case study based questions of four marks and
Section E contains two long answer questions of five marks each.
(5) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one question
in Section B, one question in Section C, one question in each CBQ in Section D and all three
questions in Section E. You have to attempt only one of the choices in such questions.

SECTION - A

increases at the rate of 1.0 tesla/sec. What is the e.m.f. induced in the loop.

10. A wire 88 cm long bent into a circular loop is placed perpendicular to the magnetic field of flux
density 2.5 Wb/m2. Within 0.5 sec, the loop is changed into a square of each side 22 cm and flux
density is increased to 3.0 Wb/m2. Calculate the value of e.m.f. induced.

11. A bar magnet a moved in the direction indicated by the arrow between two coils PQ and CD. Predict
the directions of induced current in each coil

SECTION – C

12. Derive an expression for induced e.m.f. in a conducting rod rotated in a uniform magnetic field B.

13. A square loop of side 10 cm and resistance 0.70 ohm is placed vertically in the east-west plane. A
uniform magnetic field of 0.10 T is set up across the plane in north-east direction. The magnetic field
is decreased to zero in 0.7 sec at steady rate. Determine the magnitude of induced e.m.f. and current
during this time interval.

14. A metallic rod of length l is moved perpendicular to its length with velocity V in a magnetic field B
acting perpendicular to the plane in which the rod moves. Derive an expression for the induced e.m.f.

16. Electromagnetic induction is defined as the production of an electromotive force across an electric
conductor in the changing magnetic field. The discovery of induction was done by Michael Faraday
in the year 1831. Electromagnetic induction finds many applications such as in electric compounds
which includes transformers, inductors and other devices such as electric motors and generators.

Alternating current is defined as an electric current which reverse in direction periodically in most of
the electric power circuits, the waveform of alternating current is the sine wave.

1. How to increase the energy stored in an inductor by four times?
