Speech on Technology For Students and Children

A very warm welcome to the resource person, dear teachers and students! This is Prajjuman Raghav
from the Department of English. It is my honor to be a part of this occasion. I would like to convey
my gratitude to my beloved teachers for providing me this opportunity.

Today I'm privileged to deliver my speech about Technology - an impeccable achievement of human
kind. After all, you would not be able to hear me speak without the microphone or the speakers
around, yes or no? We are here today only due to the innovation of technology.

Technology is the practical application of scientific knowledge. The use of technology greatly
influences our daily lives. Technology, from the alarm clock to the nightlight, has become crucial to
our daily survival. Technology has advanced into new fields in our generation. It is continuously
improved, and the results get better every year. Can you imagine a life without any technology? Our
lives would be tragic.

I used to wonder how people thousand years before lived without modern technologies. We are
privileged indeed, to experience the comfort and convenience it provides us. Technology is a
faultless feat of humankind. The access of technology helps us to seek significant knowledge in many
new dimensions. Without further ado, let me talk about the advantages of technology.

Technology has improved our living standards. The evolution of technology saved a huge amount of
time in completing complicated tasks. Furthermore, technology helps us to do work efficiently and
effectively. Our work is easier today than the previous generation who did not have access to
modern day technology. The development of scientific technology is a boon to humans. We are able
to achieve phenomenal things only because of superior technology. Now I will talk about the major
advantages of technology that makes a remarkable improvement on us.

Increases Productivity
Human efforts and energy to work are limited. It requires a lot of manpower to finish a task without
the use of technology. Technology has the capability to increase the productivity and efficiency to
complete a task.

Moreover, there are many tasks that humans could never accomplish without the use of technology.
The work done by machinery is more accurate and precise compared to humans. Output of such
technology will be identical regardless of multiple products. Manufacturing industries flourish due to
the advancement of technology.

Saves Time

The most important advantage of technology that is recognised worldwide is that it saves
tremendous amounts of time! Time is precious as we all know. In today's work time is valued more
than money. Technology increases the efficiency and productivity of a work and saves time in a
larger amount.

We can complete complex tasks easily within a short time. Technology not only saves time in the
production of goods but also helps in our daily lives. Nowadays everything is online. Be it food or any
commodities we want to purchase, within a few clicks we are able to reach it. It saves enormous
time that we spend on travelling and purchasing by walk-in.

Various Services

Technology gives us services. Everything has been digitalized nowadays. Starting from paying bills, to
our bank accounts, work from home, online education and what not? Who would have believed
twenty years ago that students did not need to go to school, and that people could work from
home?

Technology has transformed our lives and given us new dimensions. Even our essential needs are
available instantly with the help of technology. When we face technical issues, we can easily seek
quick services with the help of the same technology.

Makes Communication Easier

Technology made communication unbelievably easier! Two hundred years ago when Heinrich Hertz
discovered the existence of electromagnetic waves, he thought that the wireless waves wouldn't
have any practical application.
Little did he know that his discovery would change global communications into new levels. In the
modern world, technology has improved communication profoundly. We can connect to our dearest
friends anytime and anywhere. Technology has made communication more realistic through video
conferencing.

Our discrete datas are stored with maximum protection with the use of technology. We have the
privilege to capture our fond memories with a camera and save it. All these files are protected and
kept safe to reminisce in the future. Technology provides us a guaranteed safety for much of our
personal information. Though the risk of losing the data prevails, overall we can count on technology
to keep our valuables safe.

Disadvantages of Technology

Though there are many advantages of technology, there are considerable harmful effects too. We
are all addicted to the comfort that technology brings. What if someday there are no more
electronic devices and networks? World will stumble! We are so dependent on modern technology
that we can never live without them. This itself is a major drawback of technology. It is okay to be
involved with the usage of technology but people nowadays are entangled in it.

Unemployment

When the use of technology rapidly rose, a huge number of people became unemployed. Machines
started to work instead of humans becoming a misfortune to men. Also our datas is vulnerable to
theft. Many hackers and terrorists using modern technology are able to steal our datas. We should
be cautious enough to protect our private information.

Addiction and Distraction in Younger Generations

Other dreadful effects include addiction and distraction. Especially youngsters are easily distracted
by modern technologies and lose themselves in the process. Technology gives us access to many
unwanted and unhealthy contents. Chances are high that children get exploited to the undesirable
contents available on the web.

Affects Health

Moreover, technology affects human health. We are locked up in our home and give very little time
to physical activities. We are prone to health disparities because of this. Not only humans, other
living creatures in this world are also getting affected due to the growing technology.
Affects Nature

Innocent are those creatures who do not use any technology but experience the harmful effects. To
meet the requirement of a growing world population, many new technologies come into existence.
These technologies are largely built by exploiting mother earth. Nature is under threat due to the
increasing global warming and climate change. Technology is the main reason why global warming is
increasing. Environmentalists say that the use of technology today will result in the destruction of
Earth in the near future.

Conclusion

Technology exists in everyone's life. It is an integral part of human existence. Technology provides us
a lot of comfort, freedom and advancement. It is high time that we learn how to use technology in a
productive way. Being humans, we are the most evolved species. So people, let us use technology
only as a tool to help our activities. If we completely rely on technology for all our activities, then we
are in trouble. We must learn to use technology wisely and not let it affect ourselves and the
environment. Development without destruction is what we want.
